Everything was perfect
Great heritage hotel
The Shalimar continues to be one of the best places to stay in Malang if you appreciate history and great service. The rooms are clean and the ambiance is very relaxing.
A huge thank you to the team members who looked after me: Mr. Fatwa for a warm welcome at check-in, Mrs. Sherly for making my departure seamless, and Mrs. Ami at the restaurant for her kind and polite service. It’s the people here who truly make the stay memorable. I will definitely be back!

Some of the rooms on the ground floor can be noisy, as near dining room and common areas.
Better to choose upstairs rooms
This hotels is in a fantastic location and offers comfort with a beautiful and calm decor. The staff were very welcoming snd always very friendly.
The room was elegsntly decorated,spacious and light. The bed was very comfortable and we rested well. The bathroom had a great shower too. It was very quiet at night.
The hotel has 2 restaurants, we only tried their Italian themed restaurant which we liked very much. It has a 'secret speakeasy bar' behind some shelves. Beware it is a smoking bar so we didn't enjoy it that much as it was very uncomfortable and left after one cocktail. The hotel has also an Indonesian restaurant but we didn't try it. The pool is beautiful and there is a gym on site too as well as a coffee shop.
We loved the spa and had an amazing massage and the nail salon was great too. We loved this hotel and would come back

I love the architecture and sense of history. All of the public spaces are comfortable and relaxed.
The deluxe rooms are a little sparse and a comfy sofa or chair would be welcome. The corridors are quite sparse and some attractive hangings, paintings and photographs would add so much.
We’ve stayed few times in this hotel pre covid when the name is still Graha Cakra. Beautiful colonial style hotel, with a very friendly staff.
The linens/towels are quite old. Could have some upgrade in this.

We were very impressed with this hotel. It is a beautiful property and the upkeep of the place, the rooms and common areas was excellent. The pool was cool too. The rooms had small balconies for those who may want fresh air or feel claustrophobic in closed areas. The amenities are really good too. If this has impressed you already, then you are in for a bonus because their food and bar is top notch! The food at the Italian restaurant Le Regina is comparable to any great restaurant in a big city. The drinks at the bar were amazing - we tried several and would highly recommend the Strudel, Calgary Bay and the Desert Rose. The spa was also great as the masseuse there is very experienced (over 30 years of experience). You will not regret this place. There are several nice restaurants nearby too.
The location is excellent, there are lots of restaurant nearby in walking distance. It has old colonial atmosphere with javanese touch and full of history. The room and bathroom is very clean even though the bathtub is a bit old. This is already our second time here and we’ll definitely visit again. Thanks to Sherly for making sure our stay was enjoyable.
Superb ambience and service
None
Almost everything about this luxury hotel is lovely. From the classic retro kerb appeal as you approach the main entrance to the well-thought-out interior design and architecture throughout. The location in a leafy, quiet residential hood is perfect for my serene stays. I wish I had stayed for a whole week, but alas, only 2 nights. Breakfast is gorgeous, with lovely Javanese ladies and cute lads always at the ready.
Wifi was gone from Day 2 onwards. I was told they were working on it, so when I really needed some connection for work, they suggested I used the library. I had the perfect space to myself.
