In the Shade Hotel is very clean with an efficient working air conditioning, nice water pressure in the shower and enough space in the room.
Front desk person was friendly and informative.
On either side of the hotel you have a choice of restaurants to eat. And you have a bank, stores and restaurants within walking distance to the hotel.

The hotel was fantastic. Service was impeccable and staff very attentive. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff recommended many restaurants and activities to make my stay perfect. Highly recommend.

All of the staff especially Maggie made my stay very comfortable. As a young traveler Maggie gave advice, safety tips, and fun activities. Whenever there was a transportation concern Maggie was right on top of it with solutions. The free coffee in the morning was a cherry on top. And the safety in a city was astonishing. I will for sure be staying here again and for anyone thinking of staying in Tamarindo pick this hotel!

In The Shade is amazing!! I have been to Costa Rica 8 times now and have tried all different places, but this is at the top. The staff is all so friendly and they serve a great cup of coffee in the morning. What really makes this a good place to stay in Tamarindo is that it's very close to the main roads you will want to spend your time at, but the Hotel is very private. The Hotel is cozy, clean and quiet - what more could you ask for? Overall a 10/10 experience, hopefully I will be back!

Great stay - cafe food on site was excellent, staff was amazing and helpful on everything.

I will say this, the property photos really help it shine! It is a very simple space, but I would stay there again. The room smelled fresh and clean and was nice and cool when we arrived. But the rooms are basic, think dorm style. However, what it lacks in luxury, it makes up for in service, location, safety, and food. There are about 16 rooms total so it is very quiet and intimate. I got to know a lot of the guests and the staff got to know us. The food was delicious! Maggie and Sandra were extremely helpful with arranging transportation and excursions even from home. They helped us plan a spa day at Sibou, kind of nearby and it was the best spa experience I have ever had. The beach is a 7 minute walk and within a 5-10 minute walk, there are tons of shops and restaurants. Tamarindo is very touristy, so if you are looking for spots that locals run, this is not that place. But this hotel is a perfect place to access what Tamarindo has to offer as well as take taxis to other locations and excursions. Breakfast was delicious every day and very reasonable. Book here if you mainly want a cozy spot to hang outside by the pool and to serve as a landing spot between adventures. I feel like I unlocked a new way of traveling outside of the big fancy hotels and all-inclusive resorts and I like it! Simple can be super beautiful and fun!

Fantastic space, extremely helpful staff, pool was cool and the beer was always cold. 7 minute walk to the beach, could not ask for a better stay.

It is well located, easily walkable to the beach.
