O ambiente, o pequeno almoço, os funcionários, a comodidade, a vista, quase tudo.
Quartos sem AC, muito quentes, falta de elevador, o que para uma pessoa de 83 anos é muito difícil, quando é colocada num 3.º andar!!
The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. They went out of their way to be helpful.
The room was a little stuffy because of the very hot weather. A larger cooling fan would have been helpful.
Location
The bar area is tucked away at the back of the restaurant and it would be nicer if it had a closer proximity to the lounge area.
Location, Staff were friendly and professional
The room was dirty with dust on the radiator in the bathroom. The room was so hot and were unable to open the windows wide enough to let fresh air in. The room and shower room were tiny.
Excellent breakfast
Excellent lounge area
Easy parking
Lovely staff
The room-advertised as ‘cosy’ which was a euphemism for far far too small.
Tiny bathroom almost unusable.
No room for suitcases
Just about enough room to squeeze past the end of the bed.
No storage space for everyday clothes
Lack of security. Anyone could walk in during the night and get access to the accommodation.
Restaurant food amazing
Downside our bedroom mattress was very dirty which freak me out 🙀
We had a wonderful four-night stay at The Gannet and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. We were delighted to be upgraded to a beautiful, spacious room that was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable.
The staff were exceptional throughout our stay – friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile. The food was plentiful, delicious, and of a consistently high standard.
The hotel is ideally located, just a lovely 20-minute walk from St Ives and only five minutes from Carbis Bay Spa, where we spent several relaxing afternoons by the pool taking in the stunning sea views. The walk back from the spa is quite steep, but the hotel staff kindly arranged a taxi for us each day, which was greatly appreciated.
We had such a fantastic experience and would not hesitate to return. Thank you to everyone at The Gannet for making our stay so memorable.
Breakfast excellent
The room we stayed in the blue bell has some road noise. If you are a person that spends alot of time in the room this might not be a good place
The interior stunning . The decor and finish was top class
I didn’t think a chair was needed in the bedroom, as not enough space
Was just ok as an experience but expected better in all areas to be honest
The room - tiny shower area is black and could do with bleaching or re doing ! but nice decor in room.
The food - both Breakfast and Dinner where again just ok could be more choice for breakfast and you need a toaster in the kitchen as the toast is just hard bread!
Dinner was over priced for the starters, in particular the goats cheese was served on a stale bit of hard bread which I could'nt cut..the portion was miniscule, waitress was abrupt both at breakfast and dinner!
Amazing food .. great staff … lovely vibe !
I must say that our stay for both of us turned out to be perfect. We enjoyed a very nice room with a great view, the bed was very comfortable, food just great and the staff, second to none, they were brilliant. Certainly going back again, just to see the staff.
The food was incredibly good both breakfast and dinner.
The sea view was beautiful - as described.
There was a welcoming sports bar next door.
The room was up 3 flights of stairs and no lift available. We are in our late 70s but we managed.
We booked a superior room but this was an attic room with many sloping ceilings where we seemed to keep bumping our heads!
Also being an attic room it was incredibly hot, though there was a fan available which we used.
Paying £1500 for a 5 night stay I would have expected a change of bedding.
We come to Cornwall and usually St Ives every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary after getting married 9 years ago at Tregenna Castle. Having enjoyed drinks with friends and breakfast at The Gannet on previous visits we decided to lock this in as our base last year on our return trip last week.
This was a fantastic place to spend our 5 nights and I think exceeded expectations in many ways with everything hitting the spot perfectly! The location is ideal as it’s only half an hours walk along the coast path via Carbis bay beach and hotel to St Ives which is wonderfully scenic or less than a 5 minute bus ride on the 14/17 which we used daily to get around as they were so handy to just tap on and off.
The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and well maintained with plenty of character and charm but boasting modern facilities and decor that enhance the experience and tie into the overall aesthetic with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in the main building on the top floor in Pickleweed which was a beautiful room with a partial sea view. On first impressions the room felt a bit compact for our duration but ultimately had everything we needed from a big comfortable bed, ample storage space, modern shower and bathroom and included water, biscuits and towels being replenished daily which was a nice touch.
On our first evening we decided to stay local and eat downstairs in the restaurant and the food was delicious. We both had the black pudding scotch egg to start and my husband had the burger and I the mussels which went down very nicely with our wine and Guinness. Most evenings once we had finished dinner and a drink in the town we’d always have a nightcap in the bar and choose to sit in the window or in the comfy chairs near the front which was a really nice way to unwind and relax over a game of cards or chess before calling it a day.
The complimentary breakfast that was included as part of our stay was excellent, the variety was plentiful which meant a different choice could be made each day from a starter snd then main as well as toast and preserves and juices also being on offer. We definitely made the most of this so we could fuel up and know we had a decent hearty meal in before our days adventures unfolded.
Finally, the staff here were incredible and are an absolute credit to the hotel! They are all polite, professional and hardworking-nothing was ever too much trouble. Some of them who served us in the morning were still there in the evening but remained smiling and upbeat throughout. Special mention to Joe and his girlfriend whose name I didn’t get they were brilliant and so was the older gentleman who had superb charisma and a great personality.
We had a wonderful stay and every year it gets harder to leave but we’ll be back again soon to visit our home away from home. Thank you Gannet, you were great! ❤️
This hotel.is a mile and a half from St Ives along a bus route that is very regular. St Ives is fabulous and worth a visit with its many hidden gems.
Our room was two houses down from the main property. Access was by stairs only. Room was pleasant and clean lovely decor and king size bed.
Bathroom had old style standalone bath and shower was on wall at this. However you have to climb into the bath to use shower and it is high.
Breakfast was fabulous with good menu choice.
Walk in shower and less stairs.
