I would love to leave a detailed and honest review of our experience with this venue/hotel, but due to the terms of a wedding contract, I am unable to do so.

Take from that what you will.

Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet area

The pool access was great for my kids and proximity to the boardwalk.

The location was fabulous. Great bathroom and very friendly staff

The service from the front desk to the concierge was AMAZING!! James really went above and beyond on giving me and my best friend the room we wanted and sending over some prosecco up for her birthday celebration!!! The only down side was that the floors were visibly dirty with marks all over the white tiles, the phone in our room wouldn’t work so we constantly had to use our personal phone to get a hold of the front desk and the diner that is next door is not a part of their room service, so we had to go pick up our food before heading upstairs which is not that big of deal I just wish I knew that beforehand.

We loved our stay at the Asbury. Such a cool place with a lot to do between the pool table, bowling, pool, etc. location couldn’t be better - so close to beach but walkable to Main Street and cookman areas for food, shopping, etc.

Love everything about this place: location, energy, pet friendliness, comfort, cleanliness. One of my favorite places. Asbury Park + The Asbury = my idea of a perfect getaway.

It was a great hotel, with decent pricing, ample king room, clean, bright, great rootop bar and pool, and close to the beach.

TLDR:
Given the room, the price, and the way the experience added up, I would strongly recommend looking at other options before booking here. From other poor reviews I did not see much to suggest the hotel makes meaningful efforts after bad stays but I feel it apt to share my experience.

Room

I was very dissappointed upon entering the room. The room was tiny and felt even smaller than it should have, and the design made that worse. Notably, the nightstand setup is baffling. It takes up visual space in a room that already has almost none to give.

The air in the room felt sticky from the moment I walked in. The AC was blasting, yet the room had a sticky, humid feel that somehow felt worse than outside. That set the tone fast and unfortunately stuck around.

Looking at the floor map, rooms 05, 07, 01, and 14 on each floor seem to get especially cramped layouts. My room was one of the smallest hotel rooms I have stayed in, even compared with compact rooms I have had in Japan.

The bathroom was the nicest part of the room. It also seemed to take up close to half the total square footage, which made the rest of the layout feel even more awkward.

The checked floored tiling is a strange choice, especially in a room where cleanliness already feels questionable, making grime and dirty more obvious, I wondered if housekeeping really came by before our arrival or if its expected for the floors to be in this state.

The rest of the furnishings have the same dated feel, like a 2008 Disney sitcom set trying to look cool. The broken shutter in my room added to that feeling. The view was nothing special.

At this price, I expected more care. The room felt a hair above shabby.

Amenities

The pool was decent. It was busy with families, which was fine.

The lobby is spacious and works well enough for coworking, although that is not where most people want to spend their time on vacation.

Amex Hotel Collection Benefits

We booked through Amex Platinum’s Hotel Collection. The room upgrade never came through. Late checkout had no flexibility. The $100 credit also had very little useful place to go. None of these are necessarily the fault of the hotel, I take their word for it when these weren't available but these may be a saving grace for an overall poor experience.

Our room wasn't fully clean - there was left over food in our fridge. Also, our room was in various ways damaged - broken tiles, broken towel racks, broken AC vents, stained blinds, etc. We told the staff immediately upon our arrival. A new room was not offered, nor any kind of credit. We were told that an engineer could be sent to our room to make repairs. That's ridiculous. We couldn't sit there and wait for someone to fix our room while our two young children ran around the lobby.

I met family on Asbury for a pool day and dinner.

Great overnight getaway. Front desk was very helpful. Was frankly surprised that the hotel charges $55 per night to park for reserved guests.

Great hotel! So much going on! Live music, movies, bowling, food and more. Great pool with great food and cocktails. Coffee pastries and sandwiches all day in the lobby. Special shout out to Isabel at the pool, James at the front desk and Jessica t The Counter.

Loved the boutique atmosphere, decor and amenities. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Allowing us to continue to use the pool after checkout is a great touch.

There is no sign on the outside of the building; I had to drive around for a while before I found the entrance. There is really no food except for snacks. The Asbury Lanes is NOT part of the hotel. There is a single 6' pool table. The pool is small and has no spa. There is a huge condo construction project (until 2028) across the street. There is no gay culture. Really no vibe of any kind. Way overpriced; plus undisclosed resort fee.
