Courtyard by Marriott Elmira Horseheads

Before booking, I called the hotel specifically to confirm that the pool was available. Even though it is listed in the app, in my 16 years as a Marriott customer I’ve learned that sometimes the website can be outdated or the pool may be temporarily unavailable. The pool was the main reason we chose this property for our complimentary annual Marriott Bonvoy night. With temperatures around 5°F, we needed an indoor activity for our children, and the pool was the deciding factor.
Upon arrival, the front desk employee confirmed that the pool was open, and we were able to use it for about an hour on Saturday night. However, the next morning, the same employee informed us that the pool was closed for chemical treatment. We checked back multiple times, but the pool remained unavailable for several hours. Because of the timing and length of the closure, we were only able to use the pool for a total of about one hour during our entire stay.
Having worked in hotels and amusement parks myself, I understand how pool checks and maintenance cycles work—even during peak summer hours at large resorts or in tropical destinations. For such a small pool, it was surprising that the treatment required such an extended closure.
While I understand that maintenance is necessary, scheduling a closure during peak Sunday morning hours—especially after confirming availability the day before—was very disappointing and significantly affected our experience. I genuinely dislike complaining and rarely write negative reviews, but in this case the impact on our stay was significant. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel for families with children who rely on advertised amenities being available.

Clean , large room

Very clean and modern !!!

Beautiful modern rooms kept very clean. We loved the bistro eatery downstairs. The staff was extremely friendly and pleasant. The only downside is I am a sensitive sleeper and each night. There was a constant motorized sound throughout the night. Not sure if it was coming from the elevator, but I would suggest sleeping with a sound machine if you are staying here to block out the random noises you hear during the night.

Was uns ganz besonders überrascht uns gefreut hat, die Unterkunft verfügt im Garten über einen sehr guten Grill den wir benutzen konnten und uns wurden Teller, Besteck und was wir noch notwendig war zur Verfügung gestellt. 👍

We did a family trip we stayed for two nights the hotel charged me over $568 I paid thinking was a top level hotel but they failed to provide the most basic services like housekeeping. This lack of service spoiled the trip for me and my family. They are in the service industry, I hope they do not choose to provide different service based on the customers they host.

We like it there. We have stayed there several times. Always had super nice , helpful staff, especially front desk staff. Our room is always comfortable and clean and whatever we need is in there. Hard to beat!

Nice hotel!

Overall great stay. The only two things I noticed were spiderwebs and cobwebs above the showers and in the windows of both of our rooms (I reserved two adjoining rooms as there are 5 of us) . Also there were no clocks in the rooms. I know everyone has cell phones but it’s just nice to not carry my phone around everywhere in the room. I will be staying here again!

Clean nice room

Great place to stay but you pay for it. The price point for Horseheads NY is a little ridiculous.
