I spent with my colleague one week at the Marriott in room 1606. The apartment is big with great view of the city. All services were great and the quality of the bed fantastic. Cleaning service was great and provided every day. Two toilets were perfectly working with laundry machine provided with the cloth drier. Kitchen well equipped and all working. The wi-fi internet was quick. We used to take the breakfast and some dinners at the Hotel lobby and were great too. The quality of the restaurant of the hotel is very good. Service personnel and receptionists very helpful and nice. There is a great gym at the 20th floor with very nice view of the city and alo a sauna. Above all a great accommodation, especially when travelling for work. They also provide pick up from the airport.
If staying somewhere for a couple of nights I prefer a hotel, but for an extended stay an apartment is ideal. The apartment facilities cover just about everything. washing machine, iron and ironing board, well fitted kitchen (with simple to use microwave as well as cooker, plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, coffee machine, dishwasher, etc.). Staff are courteous, friendly and helpful if anything goes wrong. The small shop has most of the basics. The bar is very quiet but a pleasant spot to spend an hour or so or reception will get you a taxi within minutes to get you out and about. All in all, the MEA is ideal for an extended stay in Atyrau; clean with everything you want in a home from home.
I stayed in one bedroom apartment, on one of the high floors which had a normal size large living area and open kitchen etc. which was really good.
The bathroom have band windows on ceiling level with the view of sky which was really great.
The building, rooms and hotel facilities are allmclean and the building itself is very close to the Ural River and round-abouts.
My unit had great views of the river and surroundings.
The breakfast was also good and acceptable.
Long time resident, Packing now and Moving out. Elevators not work AGAIN. A/C has been turned off, because it's time. Even though the apartments are roasting. Soviet mentality, TURN OFF A/C IN OCTOBER, Lenin says, we obey.
Still no starch for the laundry, they say they don't have, even though it is sold in every grocery store. Wow,
Front staff great, back of house either not trained, no supplies or both, who knows. Out of sight, out of mind. Either way, I have no idea why Marriott allows a hotel like this to carry their name. JW Marriott is rolling in his grave, for tarnishing his name.
First, the staff is great. You could not ask for better.
But, as a long term resident this place is not the best.
The Gym is pretty good.
Beds a great.
Furniture and decor is nice.
Kitchen is very good.
Now the bad.
The restaurant is good, but a bit over priced and they have no idea how to fry bacon.
The laundry can't seem to understand creases go in the front/back of pants not the sides; and they have no idea what starch is, even though it is on the laundry sheet.
Elevators didn't work for several weeks and it is 20 story building (only one working at one point). Manager said they were made by a Malaysian company, which is now out of business. Should have gone to Otis, but instead they went cheap, like many of the other things here. Working now, after many weeks with one elevator. Thanks Guy (General Manager. pronounced Gee) for getting the elevators back up and running. Guy is a good man, works hard to make you happy given the poor quality build of this "Hotel".
A/C not working now. They told me Russian guys will come and fix. What? Buy A/C from a country with cold weather?? What do they know about A/C. Week later, still not working. Apartment is in the 30s, even though all curtains closed and thermostat set on 15. Should have bought A/C from US not Russia. America knows A/C. I guess they went cheap again.
The TV. a very small 37 inch and although "Technically" HD but not really in the modern world, not even 720p. I looked at the model number and they were last made in 2004, so 14 years old. Come on Marriott, not even 720p, 4k is the standard now, it's 2018. Even in 2004 1080p was the standard. Do you think they went cheap?
this used to be only available for long term leases, so if you are staying in the city for 3 or more days, it is an ideal place. Because you can cook your own meals, live like at home. There is a fitness center on the top of the building withe beautiful views. Also, for golf lovers you can play golf inside the equipped room for this - quite an interesting experience. there is a restaurant on the second floor - the day we were there there was a curry night. They have some specials for some of the nights. I recommend if you want to mingle with other residents and guests.
the apartment has very comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen.
This was our second stay in the MEA within the last year. Stayed 9 nights this time. I wish I could give a better review, particularly given that the staff is so kind and accommodating.
But, here were the issues:
- housekeeping was inconsistent and not particularly thorough.
- one lift (of two) in this 20-story building is out indefinitely. The staff elevator is available but it’s not well located for guests.
- the “fryer” in the restaurant broke during our stay, limiting the menu selections.
- the coffee maker in the restaurant broke during our stay. Instant coffee only!
- the room prices are about double what they were last summer
Hopefully we’ll have a better stay next time.
we always stay in this place, the staff warm, the app are beautifully decorated, cozy, warm and comfortable. close to the other commodities, close to ginza.
the app has all the necessary needs for a short or long stay
Although the front staff is great, as well as the restaurant staff. No fresh air, windows don't open, soviet a/c ie: no fresh air. The front doors haven't worked right in months. Many times elevators, only one works for 20 story hotel.
Long term resident (because my company chooses "Marriott"). Not really a Marriott, in the real world. In Atyrau, the Renaissance, although owned by the Marriott, is actually functioning and maintained. The gym is minimal, no swimming pool, no spa/lounge.
My brother, brother-in-law and I visited Atyrau in Western Kazakhstan for five nights for my son's engagement to a beautiful Kazakh lady. Our three bedroom, three bathroom apartment, room 809, with large living area, kitchen and washing machine was perfect for three adults - very clean and comfortable and very close to the Ural River which defines the border between Europe and Asia.
Views of the frozen river and surrounding area were great and we were close enough to walk across the bridge to Asia for the most excellent lentil soup for lunch! My brother and son actually walked back on the river. Highly recommend Ginza where that night we had a superb dinner with a great band. We had an amazing lunch at Sarayshyq, beautifully decorated and with a small historical area - definitely worth a visit. Also had a good lunch in Booblik.
It was freezing, but we never felt cold with our warm coats and the central heating. As we would pull up at the Apartments, someone would immediately let us inside. Service was great; breakfast was convenient but average.
Fully serviced apartment. Restaurant available.
No issues other than AC unit was centralised and windows could not be opened.
Select a room to the north in the summer as they are cooler.
Function room on 3rd floor - under used. Patio bar in the summer.
Great views from higher up.
Excellent gym on the top floor with sauna too.
Bicycles available too. Dogs permitted.
Golf-o-tron electronic version on top floor.
The hotel itself is fine, could be a pleasant stay if not because of the reception staff, that made the stay quite uncomfortable. Especially Ms. Assiya, and Ms. Zhibek. Ms. Assiya has no idea about the way how customers should be treated, raising her voice without letting the customer to talk. Not even a smile, a rude, annoyed face. I can not believe that in the hotel such a Marriott, people without manners are allowed to work. Its really a pity, and I think that is the main reason why I wouldn't return there.
Excellent place to stay. Facilities first class. Service excellent. Room very comfortable and well furnished. Enhanced wi-fi is good. All staff are are well trained and most talk good English. Special note must go to Lyzat and Dinara the two cleaners who cleaned my room. They did a great job. Hotel highly recommended
Nice apartments. Modern apartment Executive living but with some definite drawbacks. The bed was like concrete and the suite was very hot with no way to turn down the heat. You couldnt even open a window for fresh air...frustrating sleepless night. Would not stay again.
I've stay here for one week. At first this is apartments, so it is quite big, unfortunately you can't open windows. There is wasting mashing but no tide, you have a tea pot but no tea even slot and paper. You have to ours have all of this staff to stay here for week.
Expensive breakfast. It costs triple normal price.
I'd choose another option next time to stay in Atyrau
Was assigned to MEA for work stay, apartment clean, modern, good gym facilities, limited restaurant menu, 4 mins driving distance from the grocery and mall. There's a grab and go with basic items available for purchase. reception staff quite helpful.
Stayed there for almost 2months as our temporary accodation. It was really pleasant staying there. The apartment and service were good. They allowed our 4 ledges kids staying with us as well. The restaurant has variety of menu. Every monday, wednesday and friday it has special menu such as burger night or curry night and BBQ night. Overall we were happy.
I stayed in this apartment complex 2 times when i was on business meetings in Atyrau. Both stays were perfect. Reception check-in went quick, personell is good of service and always smiling, rooms are clean and made clean every day and fresh towels changed for the ones you use.
I had an apartment with one living room, kitchen and seperate sleeping room. The floors were quiet, the gym good, and you have no noise at all.
It was a great stay and between all my busy work i could relax!
Apartments are completed of all stuff that you need, are clean, and very nice.
The atmosphere is cold, no bar inside to get acquaintace with somebody.
The position is along the main Atyrau street and even if you have a room in high floor, during the night you can hear the loud of cars...
Food is poor for breakfast
I've been travelling to Kazakhstan since 2003 and Marriot is one of the examples of a country getting more and more integrated into the global world.
In all respects, this hotel can be in Atyrau or anywhere else in the world: its quality is worldwide standard. It is as western as you can get.
Rooms are clean, comfortable and spacy. Personnel might sound harsh when speaking, but they are fluent in English and ready to help.
Location is good, easy to access from the aiport and on the way to town center.
Breakfast is limited to the basics. But when it comes to lunch or dinner, you can get acceptable western and kazakh food. You even have a couple of bars which are quite lively.
