Good looking hotel and historic, but a bit noisy (noise from other rooms and beds) and old especially the heating system.
Great place to stay for a motorcycle ride
There is no elevator and had to carry luggage up to room.
Beware, no elevator in this hotel!! Stairs are steep and long! This is an old hotel that is in very nice shape, but not really modernized. Not ADA compliant.
Room is adequately outfitted and clean. Bed is comfy.
Restaurant is adequate. Limited choices in Leadville. Servers were very proficient and friendly.
Property was well decorated. Room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Having coffee in a flask available through the night outside the room was great!
Sink was outside the bathroom in the living space which was inconvenient to use.
We absolutely love the Delaware Hotel. This was our second stay and again, the highlight of our road trip. The staff is great, the quirky historic building is a delight for antique and history lovers and the location is fantastic. The hotel’s restoration is beautiful and the touches in each room make it a much more special stay than you can find at a typical hotel. There is no AC, but we were comfortable with a fan in the window. The bar and restaurant are top notch and deserve their own 5-star review. We will be back each time we pass through the area.
No AC in the room. No problem, just open both windows. There were noisy people out side talking. It was quiet around 10:30 PM and I finally fell asleep, but woke up 2:00-3:00 AM from more people talking loud outside. The room was too warm if I closed the windows.
Breakfast is delicious and reasonably priced
location good over priced for what it was
Lovely historic hotel
This was the worst hotel stay we have ever had. We’re both in our 70’s and travel quite a bit around the country and average about 20 hotel/motel stays each year. This stay at the Delaware was a new low for us, especially for costing upwards of $200 for the night.
First we were not told that the room was on the 3rd floor with extremely steep stairs and no elevator. We did make it up with our luggage though. We flipped the light switch just inside the door and the ceiling light came on to a barely noticeable flicker. We stepped into the room and both nearly fell because the floor is sloped sideways like the side of a mountain. Fortunately there were some lamps that worked so we had enough light to get by.
The bathroom door would not close enough to latch and remained partly open. There is no sink in the bathroom. It’s in the big room about 2 feet away from the side of the bed.
Then we couldn’t watch TV because we couldn’t get it to turn on.
The shower is so small that it’s hard to turn around without pushing the shower curtain outside the threshold. I bumped into the liquid soap dispenser on the opposite wall of the shower while turning around and it fell off and lit on my toes. They’re sore but okay.
There were two good things about the room. It had a nice king-sized bed and the shower put out a good strong flow of instant hot water.
We mentioned to the desk clerk this
morning how awful our stay was. She said the manager may call but of course. No one did. Beware!
Historical hotel in a great location, right in the middle of historical Leadville. Parking was not an issue. It is a comfortable hotel with very interesting & historical aspects to it. If visiting I would stay there again, even though it is not a modern hotel. The staff is great. Hopefully renovations will continue to its previous grandeur.
The lack of an elevator made it difficult for us , an elderly couple, to get to and from our 3rd floor room, especially when carrying our luggage!
Really pricey. Totally understand no AC in a mountain town but a fan in the room would have been nice in a hot hot day
The ambiance of an original old hotel was a highlight of our time in Leadville. The staff has been especially friendly and helpful.
Historical
Great quaint hotel with lots of history. Wife noticed the picture frames moved for no reason and thought it was the ghost!
Bar and restaurant right in hotel was very nice.
The combination locks were tedious to use.
Nice, quiet, steep stairs
