A superb homely resort in a beautiful setting, with the most attentive staff - could not recommend highly enough and wil
Pros:

As a family of 5 with 3 young children the staff at the Kalla Bongo were incredibly helpful and accommodating, particularly the manager Chandana who went out of his way to meet each of our requests and to ensure that we had a fantastic start to our Sri Lankan holiday. The peaceful resort has a beautiful setting on Hikkaduwa Lake with canoes which could be borrowed. The pool was lovely, clean and well-maintained and our kids spent a lot of time in there. The resort is only a short (5mins) tuktuk ride from the main town of Hikkaduwa and the nearest beach. Each morning we were served a very delicious and generously portioned breakfast of fruits, eggs, toast, jams, pancakes etc and each evening we ordered a tasty dinner from the on-site restaurant. We were so well looked after and when we visit Sri Lanka again we will definitely be staying at the Kalla Bongo!

Es liegt sehr schön am See, ab von dem Trubel und man kann dort gut runterkommen.
Wir hatten das Glück, dass kaum Gäste da waren, weshalb es am Pool leer war und man richtig gut abschalten konnte

Location, Lake View, Pool. Friendly staff.

Cons:

Rooms are old. A lot of peel off of the floor. Toilet fittings are aged. Meals are okay but not worth the value for money (too expensive).

Booking.com mentioned that the hotel accepts AMEX credit cards, which is an utter lie. I had to pay from my debit card (cash).

Excellent place to relax & unwind.
Pros:

Awesome veiw of a most tranquil lake with lots of peace & quiet. Rooms were well thought out with all needed amenities & comforts.

Cons:

Breakfast was nice but basic.
A boatman to take guests on the canoe or boat would hv been perfect.
Double bed instead of two single beds put together would have been best

Peaceful lakeside haven with amazing food
Pros:

I was volunteering in Akurala and needed a weekend break location, somewhere quiet and peaceful, with a pool and a restaurant. This place was perfect... The pool area is a suntrap and I would spend a while doing laps or looking out at the lake view. The room is large and cool with both AC and a fan. The internet had some issues but it was easily fixed with the help of the manager.
I didn't leave in 2 days, and had all my meals at the restaurant, also overlooking the lake. The food was really really nice, and very reasonably priced. I could pay cash or card upon check out and they gave me a flexible check in and out as my schedule was odd timing.

Cons:

Trying to find this place was a tad hard, we ended up going in circles, and after my driver contacted them he still couldn't locate the entrance. I had to call them again and ask them to stand outside. They really need a sign as they're at the end of a dead end road and it's just a wall.

Pros:

Absolutely gorgeous property - matches and in my view exceeds the pictures provided. The rooms were well equipped and clean.

An oasis away from the main hustle bustle of the city centre but still very close to the city!

Another highlight was the manager and the staff - who were accommodating to our needs and provided high quality services!

Cons:

Roads in the last 500m might be bit bumpy but the location is worth it in my view.

Pros:

We loved Kalla Bongo! The area is idyllic and the staff could not be faulted - they were all so helpful, friendly and professional, whilst still giving us our own space. There is a lot of nature and we loved watching the birds and water monitors and just basically enjoyed totally chilling out. It was also the best rice and curry we had in all of Sri Lanka! Travelling as a single parent with her child I felt entirely safe and comfortable here and staff helped with tuk tuks to the main beach area. We will definitely come back again!
