Breakfast could have a bit more selection. I realize it's continental, and there was a good selection of pastries. Toast and bagels which was great. Hard boiled eggs an added bonus. cheese --which I know is expensive would have been an added bonus

The hotel was very accommodating as we arrived a night early after leaving a hotel which was dire in Tofino. The receptionist Francine was lovely and very helpful.
The room was spacious and the bathroom well equipped. The bed was comfortable and as my husband had 'man flu' for a couple of days, it was needed. Underground parking was a bonus as the parking by the entrance got quite filled up.
Dinner was quite nice and was very busy. I found it odd to have a restaurant open by reception and the foyer.
It was nice if a bit old fashioned.
There is no breakfast to speak of during the week. You need to go out for breakfast. I also needed laundry doing but the hotel doesn't do this either. I had to send it out.
No double glazing for noise which is a bit of a problem as it's right by a main road.
Comfy beds, clean rooms, friendly service, good location, hotel with character.

There was a lot of apparent chaos during breakfast in the mornings...you were definitely understaffed for this event. Getting coffee, or a clean plate or a cleared off table was challenging at times.
Location away from the deplorable homeless and open drug use that is downtown Nanaimo. Close to Cactus Club, brew pubs and some good restaurants. Bed was comfortable and the rooms was very clean. Air conditioning worked but did not have a temperature thermostat. The room was quiet.
It's getting very old, dated and worn inside. I had to take a couple meetings and do some work from the room but the desk was tiny and the chair was very uncomfortable. There was only one available plug and no USB ports.
Modern and beautiful
There was an ice bucket but no ice machine. Breakfast was marginal with nothing hot. The only protein was cold hard-boiled eggs.

We arrived late and left early; however, our stay during our business trip was great.
The breakfast setup was confusing. A simple thing like having the bread close to the toaster means a lot, especially early in the morning.
The beds are amazing
We loved the old world charm of the Grand. It was totally unexpected . The decor was very well done. The only drawback to our stay was that we couldn't stay longer. Maybe next time.
The coffee maker in the room could be updated.
