Room service is very bad reception is same as asking money for early check in how much 3500rs Marta kya na karta de duya maine
Nothing very bad service pls change staffing
We were upgraded to a premium suit by the duty manager which was highly appreciated. She was considerate and anticipated that we would be tired after our visit to the Kamakhya temple. Priya the duty manager was excellent in her service.
Priya's good gesture and genuine concern for her guests was not supported by the cleaning and maintenance staff of the property. The room had dust everywhere. The bathtub didn't have drain cap. Shower area was not water locked and during shower the entire water came out in the bathroom dry area. Had we not stopped using the shower area, the water would've entered the bedroom. We had a bad experience.
Had an absolutely wonderful dinner experience at Umami, Vivanta by Taj Guwahati. Truly one of the best Pan Asian dining experiences in the city with an impressive variety of dishes to choose from.
We tried the Lamb Massaman Skewers, Pad Thai with Chicken, and LIIT — every single dish and drink was perfectly crafted and full of flavour. The entire meal felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.
What made the experience even more special was the warm hospitality. The service was top-notch throughout the evening. A special mention to Dawa, Sushmita, and Chef Sudesh for making our dinner so memorable. We even got the chance to interact with the chef, who patiently shared detailed insights about the recipes when we asked out of curiosity — such a lovely and personal touch.
The complimentary birthday cake was the perfect ending to a perfect evening. Thank you to the entire team for the amazing hospitality. Looking forward to visiting again soon!
Overall upkeep
Distance from town
Good location, 30 min drive to Kamakhya temple. 30 min drive to airport. Good connectivity with highways
Property needs renovation
Stayed here for day and honestly expected a lot more from a Vivanta! That too basic expectations, like good rooms and good service. This is an aged property, while rooms are good size everything else feels and is super old. Bed which makes sound as you turn, flickering lights, shower in the bath tub which is so difficult to get in and out (and beat this, with shower mixer is placed you have cold water over you before hot comes) and black patches on the wall and ceiling. Worst is the service, you hardly see a smiling face (apart from the security and the bell boys…the reason I am probably giving a few extra stars), i had to call at least 3 times for water and that too gets you plastic bottles and what made it worst…there were no hand towels. We were told to wait for an hour at least for any hand towel which then never came. Last but not the least the restaurant and food, surely something which needs to be looked at, very little options and service..little i mention. How can you being in Assam not have a good tea option available!!
Please someone look into all these, you are sitting at a great location and with a great name, please make this Vivanta great.
Surely not worth the price and not the Vivanta you expect.
Our stay at Vivanta Guwahati was disappointing from start to finish, especially considering the expectations from a premium hotel brand.
Right from arrival, there was no welcome experience at all. No one came to assist with luggage from the cab, and similarly while leaving, no one escorted us or helped with luggage to the cab either.
During check-in, we had specifically paid for two mountain view rooms, but only one room actually had the promised view. The other did not match what was booked. And yeah, no upgrade as well for being Taj loyalty member.
The rooms themselves felt outdated and poorly maintained. The shower setup was extremely inconvenient. There was only a bathtub arrangement, and guests are expected to stand inside the bathtub to take a shower, which felt impractical and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, there was no proper drainage stopper for the bathtub.
Although the room size was decent, the TV was a tiny 32-inch screen with no smart features at all, which felt outdated for a hotel in this category. There were also no welcome snacks, greetings, or any thoughtful touches in the room.
Basic maintenance was lacking throughout. The light switches barely worked and had to be pressed multiple times. The convex grooming mirror in the washroom had a non-functional light. Curtains smelled bad, looked unwashed, and were full of creases.
The gym experience was equally poor. The equipment looked extremely old, the treadmill made excessive noise, and the entire gym corridor had a bad smell. I could not stay there for even half an hour.
Breakfast was another disappointment. Except for the paneer paratha and mango, almost everything felt mediocre or stale. The muffins and croissants seemed old and locally sourced with poor quality, and overall the food spread did not meet expectations at all.
The only positive part of the stay was that the billing process was handled properly.
Overall, this was one of the most underwhelming hotel experiences I have had, especially from a property operating under the Vivanta name.
We had a bad experience at the onset at vivanta Guwahati especially the restaurant and the staff.
The room was upgraded but there was no feeling of upgradation.
Posted pics where one can see the room had leftovers from earlier guest meaning the room was given without proper cleaning which should be the industry standard.
Cigarette lighter, bottle lid etc. Were visibly lying on the floor and we had kids along.
The bamboo basket was empty which otherwise should have had some complimentary cookies or fruits.
The hotel is made of structure which lasts for long and needs lengthy renovations when taken up BUT when guest checks in he looks for comfort and pamper at the cost he is paying and not to find garbage lying in a given room.
The restaurant we were in served buffet as well as Ala carte but the staff there was more interested in guests taking buffet only! It was a dhaba style experience in five stare vivanta Guwahati where the 7 restaurant staff seemed to be in a hell lot of hurry not even making eye contact with guests and no warmth..the moment we said we want to go for a la carte the staff started to behave very rudely.
Fine...the table it was also fit for just two while we were 4 persons. Hardly there was any place to put big plates forget small plates. Do look at the pictures attached. I kept the water bottle on the floor as there was no space on the two by two table!
The staff on a road side dhaba to kaziranga is more polite, smiling and well dressed rather than this vivanta's.
We were at vivanta Shillong and there we had a all together different and very pleasant experience with staff taking one to one personal care and insight about our food and were smiling and very professional.
Overall the service here seemed lacking.
Huge parking, huge hotel but lacked professional etiquette and it seemed the staff here is not trained enough to satisfy the guests requirements.
I wish all the best to the management to have their staff on their toes NOT just running around while serving food but also to understand that a guest needs more of love and not just comfort.
We saw one steward just roaming with two glasses of juice and he asked everyone whose order was it and ultimately completing it with the couple who actually was sitting just at the entry!
Location is good.
Parking is ample.
One to one contact needs to be developed.
Service staff needs to be smiling.
The guests in the restaurant were much less compared to vivanta shillong but still the staff here gave us a feeling that we were bothering them!
