MG Setos Hotel Semarang

Check-in supposed to be at 2pm but was delayed until 2.30pm. Very disappointed.

The room and bathroom are dirty, dusty and bad odor. The windows/doors are not sound proof so you can hear everything from outside (very noise). The breakfast is standard for 3 star hotel.

However the beds are comfortable with big room and good TV shows. The hotel is located close by other resto within walking distance.

The room was clean, neat, and I think the bathroom wins here cuz it's hella spacious. I love that. It's also near to the downtown of Semarang so it will be great for you. We (3 girls) were actually coming back from Simpang Lima to the hotel on foot for apprx. 15 mins and it's worth calorie-burning.

The location: considered OK. There are limited number of decent restaurants near the hotel. But since it’s only 10 minutes to Simpang Lima, it is suggested to stretch some legs, go and have various meals in Simpang Lima area.

The staffs: considered OK.

The place: spacious bedroom, more spacious bathroom, but nothing is outstanding.

The breakfast: average. But the coffee tastes good. The restaurant is spacious with many tables and chairs. The outdoor seating arrangement is better.

I booked this hotel because from the review in the internet they have a large room. However, please don't expect more. Few things to note before you book:

1. The hotel is located on unoccupied mall, so don't expect the mall
2. The room is spacious, however it looks dull and dirty.
3. The food is bad. I had a breakfast at 8.30. Most of the foods are finished already. I wait until 9, and saw they still empty. So I asked the egg lady, will they be refilled again. She answer no. Then I ask again what time the breakfast ended, she replied me at 10am. So they left the foods empty even though the breakfast is until 10. The restaurant is not fully occupied with guests (about half of their capacity) so I suspect they did not provide enough food. So I just leave the restaurant and find food outside the hotel.

A night before, I also ordered soto betawi and the taste is also awfull.

All ini all, I think with the same price you can get a better hotel. I stayed few times in semarang with another hotel, and this is my worst experience.

Spacious bedroom and lobby hotel. Friendly hospitality, clean and reasonable price. Strategic location (near Simpang Lima) and easy to reach. Quick process to check in although at midnight. Recommended hotel in Semarang.

I booked this hotel for my family hoping that the kids could enjoy their amenities, but turns out the pool is such a confusing place to reach and poorly accessed.
There's no proper greeting on the receptionist.
The plus point is the room quite big.
Breakfast was just average in term of taste and standard option for 3-4* hotels.
Wifi is good.

I just checked out from MG Setos, the Hotel is huge but have no park (actually they have a park but outdoor like if raining and you have a car you cant out to take your car), this hotel has a proper and amazing lobby area, all the furniture in lobby so perfect.
After checked in, we entered our room, the first thing out from my mouth is big room, big bathroom, but the room was old, not clean, even the bed cover (we got itchy).
The pool in unproper, as a guest we have to walk through the basement to get there. And its sooo dirty I could say.
Im not so happy with my stay and we wont come back for sure. Better in Pesona than here. I got you 3 stars because of the lobby first impression.

Hotel connecting with new mall, but the mall not really much store open.
About the room, room so big cause i choose junior suite, bed king size, no view from this room, in bathroom they have shower an bathtub.
Breakfast is good to but not really delicious.
This hotel in same area with apartement and another hotel name is mg suite (i think one management with this hotel too) but the swimming pool location in mg suite area, so need to walk. They have cafe to beside the swimming pool. But when i want to swim, swimming pool close because of someone reserved for birthday party. So they going suggest me to swim in apartement swimming pool, need to walk again.
Location near to go mall and main city of semarang (paragon mall 10min, dp mall 15 min, citraland mall 20min), near to go semawis/china town (10min), train station place (15min)

-.Dirty Pool (not maintained properly)
-.Working Constructions? Made my staying not confortable
-.Ordered non smoking room however when we are arrived our room smelt cigarette? Asking to change the room luckily they give the proper one which is odorless.
-.One of the worst Parking management, not adequate space then force to use the open parking space however construction dirts are everywhere and covering the car within few hours.

My suggestion avoid this hotel until improvements been made. And as I noticed apparently this has been occurring and reported by other reviewers as well. Which is pitty apparently they don’t make any progress to improve better.

low maintenance hotel there is crack at the hotel seat the shower holder almost fell off, there is stains in the bed sheet they didnt take our dirty plate after food delivery last night, there is live music until 11pm right under our room 915 and i can hear it clearly, when i complain to the cs they said no one complain before, wth with the answer?! the wifi also not working

Staff hotel nya ramah dan membantu. dari proses check in dan ketika memerlukan bantuan memanaskan makanan.
hanya mungkin minta tolong kolam renang nya di bikin lebih bersih.

Room was huge but small washroom, no bath tub.... no view facing inside, I asked to change room......
Although view was spectacular, Breakfast was terrible... huge dining area but little choice of food,... no coffee machine for cappuccino, ... no French stick ,... no hot food instant cooking area for some noodles or bihun

Located at center of the town. Many food places. Good service, nice SPA, nice room. Good staff.
Also like the interior because everything is match each other. And not too much.
Would back again in another time!

A quite hotel, the room & bathroom was very spacious and large. Just a few mins to simpang lima using cars. They have a nice pool but it's very complicated to go
They provide free wifi, free parking, and breakfast

Careful not to mix this with MG Suites since they are different management.
Spacious room, carpet floor, spacious bathroom, friendly staff. This place is located a bit hidden and the address can be misleading, to find it you need to stroll gajahmada street (one way), and see to your left side there is a small pavement road with signs MG Hotel (not MG Setos), turn here into the road and you'll there.
This hotel supposed to be one building with Semarang Town Square, but the mall is not developed yet.
Concierge on ground floor will help you nicely, parking space is very limited I would say. Lobby is at floor 8th. Floor 1-3 is a children playground, many rides are available as well as a quite good 5D theater, all comes with a cheap price of USD 8 for unlimited plays.
Some food vendors are available at floor 4-5.

Pros:
- Efficient check in & out process
- Friendly and polite staffs.
- Quiet
- Located near Simpang Lima
- Local restaurant and food court on the lower floors
- Strong shower with good temperature.
- Free wifi internet
- 4 elevator plus 2 elevators from 8th floor above

Cons
- Narrow parking lot in the basement area
- No security key in the elevator, so everyone can access the guest room area
