Reception friendly , location close to city safe parking. Breakfast.
Beds were hard old and uncomfortable didn’t get any sleep. Noise from the road, scaffolding outside the window. Rooms tiered and need decorating.
The location
Clean, warm, comfortable, inexpensive, good breakfast, friendly staff
Bedroom area was small - but shower good size

Grand old building with period features and high ceilings. Very friendly and helpful staff. Meena kindly carried my bag up al the stairs, and she tried to help when my room was not what I had requested on booking.
Quiet hotel and quiet room. Bed comfortable with crisp cotton sheets. Bathroom warm. Breakfast buffet offered good choice of fruit, cereals, cold ham and cheese, and hot options. Pleasing outdoor space, and parking.
Location just out of the city, level walk into city centre via subway, about ten minutes. Staff all particularly pleasant.
My room was up two-and-a-half flights of stairs. Room allocation was peculiar - I had requested (3 nights) in a room with bath, but was given a room with a shower (and low, sloping ceiling, so cramped-feeling especially trying to get round the door). When I asked to be moved this wasn't possible but I was able to use a bath in another empty room on that first night. As I was going out for the day at 10am the next morning it was neither possible, or desirable, to pack up and move into another room at 11am after its occupant had checked out.
For the following two nights just one other guest and myself were the only people in the hotel, so I would have preferred to have been allocated the requested room with bath for the entire three-night stay, and one without scaffolding outside my window, which I only discovered in the morning when I opened the curtains, and which was not mentioned on booking. This scaffold platform blocked the view of the garden.
The shower had no soap dish or shelf on which to put toiletries, only on the floor. Decor tired. The room was too warm the first night, then too cool during the second night so the heating may have been altered, I adjusted the radiator for the third.
The cottage is spacious and simple but all you need and perfect for two large dogs!
The sofa was incredibly uncomfortable and the cottage uncomfortably hot. Also pillows aren’t great.
