Wir waren im Zimmer im 1. Stock mit Meerblick und Balkon und es war traumhaft schön. Das Zimmer war top ausgestattet (mit vielen Schränken), geräumig und das Bad modern und mit super Dusche. Die Unterkunft liegt direkt am Strand und hat auch schöne Sitz- und Liegeplätze. Die Bucht ist ein natürlicher Swimmingpool und daher auch in der Saison mit viel Wellengang sehr ruhig und schön zum schwimmen. Man kann hier auch sehr schön schnorcheln, es gibt viele tolle Fische insbesondere Papageienfische zu sehen. Direkt links um die Ecke ist der schöne Strand zum surfen und mit Volleyballfeld. Es gibt ausreichend Restaurants direkt vor der Tür und es ist nicht überlaufen aber ausreichend touristische Infrastruktur vorhanden. Für uns war alles perfekt
Das WLAN ist leider öfter ausgefallen. Da man im Zimmer keine mobile Datenverbindung hat ist man dann mal etwas vom Internet abgeschnitten, aber nicht so schlimm im Urlaub.
Super freundliches Personal, tolles Essen...
Die direkte Lage am Strand war super. Das Personal war freundlich, konnte aber kaum Englisch. Frühstück direkt am Wasser.
An einem Abend wurden wir sehr lecker mit frischem Fisch bekocht.
Der Betrieb lief auf Sparflamme...außerhalb der Saison. Dafür war alles ein bisschen zu teuer. Z.B. ein recht einfaches Frühstück für 4000 Rupien...
We were the only guests during most of our stay (end of season), so we had the beach beds all to ourselves.
Having breakfast right on the beach was great. Ocean near the hotel is perfect for young kids (no waves).
Rooms were unexpectedly large and quite comfortable, with solid wood furniture.
AC was working fine in our rooms. And we even had WiFi right on the beach.
The non-functioning bar at the entrance to the hotel and the view of an abandoned nearby building gave me really spooky feeling...
I don't know if it is common for hotels in Sri Lanka, but in our 5 day stay we had absolutely no room cleaning... I would expect at least for the trash can to be emptied every couple of days, especially since the staff obviously didn't have much else to do...
But the worst part was that my 5 year old child had an accident in the bathroom. He slipped on the tile floor and cut his hand on sharp corner of a metal thing between the floor and glass wall of the shower. The cut was so bad that he had to have 3 hour surgery when we returned home (thankfully the accident happened on our last evening there). I really hope they fix the sharp corner and no one else gets hurt!!!
The manager promised to arrange taxi to the airport "for a good price". The taxi ended up having 3 passenger seats and there were 4 of us, so I had to hold my child in my lap for 2 hours... And the "good" price was not that good either.
Spacious bathroom though water was cold
Had to navigate a labyrinth of dingy alleyways lugging my cases to get to the hotel. None of the facilities advertised existed, no tv, no car park, no bbq, no English breakfast, no lounge, no daily room clean in fact no room cleaning at all! Though there were rats and cockroaches. Lots of people smoking, no credit card facilities had to pay by cash which I had to obtain from the town atm. My husband is 75 and had to climb 3flights of steep stairs to get to the room.
Our view was of a derelict building.
I will definitely be demanding a refund from booking.com they should take this property off of their list
The only thing good was the Location. But had to walk with luggage through narrow street and then the beach to reach the property.
1. A/Cs were not functioning properly.
2. Of the 3 booked rooms, 2 had bathroom windows opening to a common balcony, compromising privacy, while the third had a window opening directly into the room.
3. No lifts available.
4. Staff reacted aggressively to our complaints, bringing a dog and asking us to leave. They misunderstood the second complaint, resorted to racist remarks, showed middle fingers, and insulted us.
The property didn't cancel the booking after asking us to leave and Booking.com charged us the next day.
Families and decent guests should avoid this hotel. Booking.com must take action to prevent such incidents and consider removing this property due to discriminatory behavior against a certain nationality.
Attentive staff, always very kind and helpful. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful and of good quality. The location of the hotel is idyllic! Go without hesitation.
It was a really amazing location on the beach front. The rooms were really comfortable as well.
We had an issue where the ACs in one of the rooms that we booked didn't work and it was a room we booked for 3 persons. However the owner was very helpful and reaccomodated us to a different room with AC though it was only a 2 person room
Large Rooms and updated bathrooms. Bathrooms even had a bidet, but didnt work in one of the rooms.
Small Property is located on the beach, but no direct access to the property by road. you have to park the car way off, and then walk up to the property. Building is also very old and dated (but surprisingly very large rooms, with updated bathrooms). Hotel is small and sandwhiched between other propertys on both sides. Lacks any ambience whatsover. Rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floor, with no elevator, but have to walk throgh a "abandoned" restaurant on the ground floor. not sure what is on the first floor. We went in the offseason, and I dont think we got much of a discount here.
We got 2 rooms, but AC did not work in one. Manager/owner changed the room after talking to him, but had to haggle about price adjustment, as the replacement room was a lower end room, nonetheless he agreed to the price we finally gave him.
Dont bother with the premium for beach facing room, not much view to be had, and the balcony is also shared. Also beach outside is okay, not great like other beaches we have been to in Srilanka.. Check it on google satellite view and photos.
We are completely satisfied with our stay in Coconut Sea Bar Lodge. We are warmly welcomed by the host and provided with good breakfast. Our room was very spacious. Also Water and towels was provided. The property is very well maintained. The host helps with the planning and implementation of excursions. The host also provides surfboards and snorkelling equipment . Always happy to stay again
Right at a lovely beach with a couple of restaurants around. Huge rooms in a quiet neighbourhood. Friendly and helpful people and locals around

Hard to find this place by car - especially by night - as there are no indications and none of the hotels around knew this place either.

The staff is great, the room is clean and spacious, they even left me a bottle of water that I needed so bad upon arrival. The juices are so tasty👌🏻
This is Garry very Friendly Hotel only one staying there Five star location Simnon how cooked clean what ever needed doing always smiled was good got sick of eggs every day but had some nice curry there , just me I like good Wi Fi was not good, TV there was no TV coffee in room there was none but might be better in season
