Popped in for a quick drink and came across the tapas/small plates menu which looked delicious so we ordered 3 items. All delicious and we can highly recommend!
Had the most amazing stay at this beautiful hotel. Staff were so welcoming, especially Atif at breakfast, which was delicious! We stayed in room 3, which was absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Loved the lush bath products too! This hotel has thought of everything and all the attention to detail and decor in the rooms was just beautiful. Location was perfect. Couldn’t fault a thing and will definitely be back again! Thank you!
As I write this IV just finished a beautiful Sunday lunch. Stunning. Service by Red was lovely, such a nice girl. Rob the chef certainly knows his stuff. Even gave us some stuffing which was great. Thank you we will be back very soon.
Excellent stay at such a lovely hotel, staff are friendly and very hospitable.
Rooms and bed are very comfortable and offered us a great nights sleep.
Breakfast was Excellent quality with impeccable service.
We've stayed at this hotel a few times over the years, it always delivers a 'special' experience.
Thankyou to all the staff and wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year
We had an amazing time staying in The Townhouse. Really welcoming! A good night's stay with comfy beds and a great shower. A delicious breakfast served to us by Atif who was soooo nice! Thank you!
My friend and I stayed for 1 night after seeing Macbeth at The Other Place in November. We received a warm welcome and were able to leave our bags while we saw the matinee performance. The location is fantastic-close to theatres, history and shops. Stratford is a lovely place. Our twin room was on the top floor but the stairs weren’t steep. Beds were very comfortable with clean, fresh linen. The en suite was small, no bath only a big shower but that was fine. Couldn’t figure out how to turn the heated towel rail on but the bedroom itself was very warm so didn’t bother us. Towels were large and fluffy. There was plenty of storage and lighting, tea & coffee, mirrors and TV. Slept well. We didn’t eat here as there are lots of lovely cafes around for breakfast. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again in the future as I thought it a lot more characterful than a premier inn.
I would actually give it 2.5 stars.
I'm going to start with what's great about this place.
*Amazing location. Everything that you want to do in Stratford is walking distance (5 to 7 min) and the train station is just 13 minutes away. A lot of nice places to eat are also around the corner.
*The girls who work at the reception and bar are incredibly friendly and they make you feel welcome.
*The room I stayed in is spacious. The bathroom is big enough (comfortable I would say) and the shower is very good. It's a lot bigger than other showers I've seen in hotels of better category. The bathroom was well cleaned, and my cleanliness expectations are high.
What is not great about The Townhouse:
*This place really needs some investment. As you walk around the bedroom halls, and even inside the room, you can feel where, below the carpet, the wood has just given in and it's actually the carpet what's keeping you from twisting your ankle. It could also do with some new carpet, in the room and in the entire place in general. In the room the carpet was full of stains. it can def do with some painting too.
*It didn't smell awful, but it could do with better ventilation.
*The mattress was uncomfortable. It just doesn't hold anymore.
*The quality of the breakfast isn't good. The coffee was tasteless and the jam was of that kind that's like a chunk that doesn't spread. It didn't taste good either. I chose the continental option and only enjoyed the granola.
*When I made the booking I got an email saying that they would charge the amount due (they charge you 20% when you book) at check-in. 48 hours before check-in day I got another email saying that they had changed management and now all bookings are fully charged 48 hours before arrival. I don't agree when a business changes their policies but don't honour the initial policy they had with the clients that booked with them while they had that initial policy.
Overall I would say that it can be a good experience for a night or two, but I would look for a different alternative if you're staying for longer. However, I can't stress enough how well this place is located! It's very convenient.
Large well appointed clean en-suite room in a lovely period property. The bathroom is showing signs of ageing (cracked floor tiles, shower tiling could do with a little treatment and wooden loo seat probably needs replacing). Lovely style overall in a super location but just a little tired in places.
Staff weren’t very welcoming.
No food service on evening.
Light bulbs not working in room.
And being quizzed by staff who aren’t on duty asking us in the middle of the bar where we are going when we were resting to our room. Was absolutely not impressed.
Not bad but needs a good spruce up. There was a bath mat covering a burn in the carpet next to the bed and the ceiling of the shower was moldy and dirty.
We loved this place. The room was spacious, the bed was big and comfortable, and there was a refrigerator. The breakfast was great, as was the staff. The carpet was pretty worn on the stairs and halls, but everything else was in pretty good shape. We did have to park in the NCP parking lot a few blocks away, but that was no problem. And the location was wonderful-- for most of the Shakespeare activities, for the market, for the theater, and for great restaurants and stores. We would stay there again.
Staff was the very best! It's usually about people, people, people.
Staff very helpful, great location and comfy bed. Only area of improvement would be the en-suite, floor tiles cracked and unstable in places. Room still functional though.
Without doubt the best place for food, atmosphere and top class service.
We held our post wedding meal here. 27 guests. We had a roast dinner. It was stunning. Beautifully presented and tasted delicious and came out at the same time piping hot. They catered for allergies and dietary needs with perfection. I can’t recommend this venue more highly. It is a beautiful premise decorated tastefully and the staff are the cherry on the icing.
Don’t miss out on what is guaranteed to be the best experience you could have in Stratford upon Avon.
Ideally located in Central Stratford upon Avon, short walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
Welcoming friendly staff
Nice good size room with large shower room/ toilet.
All relevant facilities available
Nothing
Lovely hotel, very central
The staff were very welcoming, and when I arrived early I was allowed to book in.
It is a beautiful of building, however it does need some updating.
The carpets are worn, and in some places threadbare.
The window lock in my bathroom was broken
There was a kettle and several different teas, coffee, etc., but there were just 3 tiny milk pods. I would have liked more milk.
The bed in my superior room was comfortable, however it was a standard 4’6” double. There was a small fridge containing two bottles of water.
There was a large good quality 500ml soap/shampoo dispenser in the shower, a mini soap bar, and a mini hair conditioner on the sink.
The roll top bath was against a wall however there was no provision for towels, soap, or shampoo. I had to put them on the floor and because the bath was so deep I couldn’t reach them by leaning over, so I had to stand up each time. There a TV, but no safe
The breakfast was very good, and they served great coffee.
The reason I only gave them four was the price (£130 for single use), and in a superior room I would expect a king size bed, and though the toiletries were adequate, In a superior room I would expect more.
Nice location
Quite a lot actually. The carpet in the room was absolutely filthy, the room was very hot even with the fan on. The shower head and fan wasn’t the cleanest.
Very welcoming staff and a fantastic location
Maybe stairs to the rooms could do with a do over, but apart from that great
