Pros:

The resort does not allow local taxis or external transportation services, which limits guests' options for getting around. The in-house transport services are significantly overpriced—often charging 3 to 5 times more than the normal rate. This felt like an unfair advantage being taken of tourists. They say it is government rule but nothing wss shown to support that.

If you're planning to stay entirely within the resort, this may not affect you much. Just you'll end up paying much more than expected just for airport transfers or simple outings.

Aside from this issue, everything else about the resort was excellent.

Very good option If you plan to relax. It's far from city center and other nature districts within Salalah, so it's recommended for the last couple of days (after visiting planned districts).
Once arrived to the property, it will be difficult to find out easy transportation with reasonable cost, unless you have your own vehicle.

Pros:

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel . It’s perfect for families. The hotel provide nice activities for kids and relaxing sites for adults . The kids club is very good , the water park is very nice as well. The hotel is close from most of the sites in salalah and the weather is cool with little humidity from time to time . This season the rain was not much so u won’t see any water falls but the greenery is everywhere

Relaxing Hotel.
Pros:

The hotel is located inside Hawana Salalah resort among three other hotels. It has amazing area with lagoon beach and marina which has resturants, coffee shops and few gift shops. The rooms are sepacious but outdated with clean old furniture. Staff is amazing and friendly. Food is delicious but make sure if you order room service that they got your order correctly. There is free parking lot. I highly recommend it and I will come again.

We traveled as Family with kids in end on June (not high season) so hotel wasn't crowded yet we loved our trip.

We were traveling with small kids..We expect kids club to be available even if it is not high end season...
It should be clearly communicated upon booking that Aqua park is closed on Sunday and Monday
Quality of shampoo used is not for a 5 stars hotel

Recommended hotel!
Pros: Fantastic location with beautiful sandy beaches, plenty of activities to do, all very well organized, extremely friendly staff attentive to guests’ needs, and excellent quality food.
Cons: Without a premium experience, the included drinks are too few, the rooms need significant maintenance and possibly some modernization, and the Wi-Fi is very slow and doesn’t work in many areas of the hotel (including part of our room and some beaches).

Staying at Al Fanar is one of the best experiences in life.

I went there with my wife, & we enjoyed each second of our trip.

1st; the hospitality is beyond expectations. The staff is very kind. I would like to personally Thank Mr. Hussein Al Ma'ashani for his extreme kindness and hospitality. They even offered complimentary coffee & fruit platter.

The hotel is safe and quiet, the rooms are very clean, & the parameters are very nice to walk&talk, & enjoy the ocean from the different seating areas and cafes there.

I wanted to have a dinner on the beach, so the hotel made it possible in just 2 hours,& made it a very unique & memorable experience thanks to Mr. Umlesh who stayed after working hours to make are that we are happy with arrangements.

The dining options are vast,& the breakfast open buffet is great with lots of varieties (One can have the breakfast at Al Fanar,or at Rotana Hotel (5 minutes way from Al Fanar)

One very enjoyable service you get to experience when booking with Al Fanar is a limitless free entrance to the adjacent AquaPark,which is a very nice experience with must-try slides, & the memories there are non forgettable.

Another great experience we had with Al Fanar is the bike rental to ride around the ocean and areas of Hawana Salalah. Very great experience.

What needs improvement in Al Fanar is the quality of bed mattress and pillows, plus the quality of Shampoo & Shower Gel they offer.The ones they have are below expectations.

De kamers zijn oud en hebben een stankgeur. Schimmel in de badkamer. De kast stonk. Het matras was versleten. Kamers moeten echt vernieuwd worden. Overal vieze vochtgeur. Het ontbijt was goed. Maar zulke slechte kamers niet eerder meegemaakt. Zonde van me geld.
