Nice room, love the resistance cords in the room. Very clean! Comfortable bed! Beautiful new bathroom!
Very pleasant lobby with many tables! Great location! Very quiet, you don't hear any traffic from the city! Good value! Definitely would come back!
Like of privacy with open shade, therefore no natural light at room 604. I would suggest a shade that gives you privacy but also lets the natural light come in to the room. Doors are not soundproof. You can hear other guests open the door. It almost feels like someone is trying to get to your room.
We returned having stayed in Dec 2024 for Jo’s 40th birthday. We loved it and felt like we were valued as guests. This year we did 4 days in Washington DC before taking the train to NYC for a further 4 days and we picked the Even Midtown again because we enjoyed it so much last time around.
Whilst not much has changed we didn’t feel the same warm welcome. We were disappointed by the assistance from the front desk - especially regarding a late checkout. We asked on Day 1 and were told we would need to check the night before leaving. Then we were told we would need to ask on the morning of departure - and when I did that I was told the hotel was ‘fully booked’ but we could have an extra hour (absolutely no use whatsoever) but if I wanted I could pay for an extra night - err…. If you’re ’fully booked’ so you can’t give me until Noon/1pm how can you find me an extra night.
Last time around they gave us a drink token for each night we had booked - this time around just 1 token each … we thought we would save it for our check out, have a drink when we returned to collect our bags - only when we arrived the guy at the bar said it was closed and didn’t open until 4pm, so that was that.
Whilst the room was clean and no complaints about the amenities, and whilst it is ideally located for Midtown and all that it offers (especially proximity to Grand Central) - I don’t think we will be back.
Location
Nice art work
Small room for a family of 4. Not much storage space. Receptionist not very helpful or welcoming
A simple “thank you” after a three-night stay from the desk on Sunday morning, April 5 would have been appropriate.
BREAKFAST VOUCHERS. Huh? 3 guests, 2 vouchers, 3rd person (child) pays. Shrugs. Food is good. Voucher system seemingly works via the ethereal plain.
Room. Clean & tidy but no space- if you’re travelling with a carry-on or hold-all, fine. 2 or 3 large suitcases = live out of them as no hanging space. Ok for 2 people, 3 is a squeeze (2 adults + 16y.o.).
Tip: Ask for a kettle. Coffee in room isn’t good; sorry, its not. Keurig machine is a bit meh. Also, machine delivers tea through same spout meaning tea tastes of coffee….not ideal. No milk in room but available from foyer cafe bar space. Actually….sorry, coffee throughout the hotel is poor. Full disclosure- I usually have a double-double espresso to start the day, and I’m heavy scooped with my other coffee devices. :-/
What’s interesting is that other IHGs (at least one!), say that IHG no longer provides kettles to guests. Well Done this hotel for keeping the kettles!
Wall sockets and USB charging ports; some work, some don’t, some sockets don’t grab the plug, some needs supporting with books, pens, folded paper…needs some fixing work there. Worn out parts.
Random gym equipment- stretchy bands, foam blocks, a yoga mat. Plus a weird numbered column like a climbing bar..? Shrugs.
Fold out desk + whiteboard. Weird. Work meeting, anyone?
Bathroom sink; no plug. Take one of those universal “hostel plugs” with you- be aware the sink plug hole in the room sits flush with the porcelain, so your “travel plug” will need to be flat.
Bar is apparently “cashless”, but NY State has a law that says vendors/traders must accept cash? Shrugs again. Doesn’t say how big the beer is.
Overall, yes I’d stay again, but with a smaller suitcase!
Convenient location, cool place, friendly staff!
Only three elevators in the whole building. The shower titles were hard on my feet.
Overall, clean and tidy, a “you get what you pay for hotel”. Can’t beat the price - it’s a box in Manhattan with a bed. If you want to lounge in your room and have lots of space, look elsewhere
Cons:
HVAC - VERY LOUD - we set ours to cool and 67; never went below 71; ZERO towel bars in bathroom despite 3 large empty walls; Our room was without a fridge; every room is supposed to have one (so if that matters to you, double check)
Pros: close to Grand Central Station; Close to Times Square and Broadway; EAST side of the city; FREE exercise clothes laundering, very comfy bed; Excellent toiletries
If you are interested in Circle Line boat tours/Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, The Intrepid, food in Hell’s Kitchen (other side of Manhattan, for those not familiar with the city) - not a con of the hotel, I just find that stuff useful from reviews when I am coming from away
