Denis Private Island

We came here in 1998 on our honeymoon and were delighted that we loved the whole experience just as much now! The lodge and rooms have been much upgraded since then of course. More glossy and much larger open sided reception/bar/sitting area/dining area leading out to the swimming pool and sea behind. No sea view from the dining area as the vegetation is quite tall. Our villa was lovely - spacious and comfortable with an open air bathroom with bath, shower and outside shower in a little patio. Veranda with day bed and table and chairs leading out to a garden area down to the beach with sun loungers under a palm thatch umbrella. Very tranquil and peaceful. No wifi in the villas. We used the bikes which came with the villa to explore the island. A beautiful place for birds, both sea and land. Long beach walks straight from our villa. Snorkelling just off the beach over little rocky areas, not a huge amount of fish to see but enough and it couldn’t have been easier so that made it very relaxing for me as I am not a strong swimmer! All the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, we enjoyed all our meals. Dinner doesn’t start till 8 pm which is quite late for us but we usually found we could go in a bit earlier. One evening there was a barbecue at a specially built dining and bar area elsewhere on the island, we were ferried there by buggy, sat on the beach first for a drink and it was a delightful evening, though barbecues are not usually our thing!

If you’re looking for peace & tranquility this is the place to go. A beautiful island with fantastic staff who make your stay so enjoyable. The accommodation was excellent & so was the food. We would highly recommend this resort if you want to get away from it all.

Denis Island is little piece of paradise. We spent one week on Denis Island and wished we had booked another week. It’s the only resort on the island and you feel like you are completely alone — so quiet and relaxing. Our villa was beautiful. The food was so delicious — we ate amazing fresh fish almost everyday — sometimes twice a day. Their chefs could easily make you think you are dining in a 5 star restaurant! They have a farm and they produce all of their own vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry and eggs. They even have quail eggs in the morning! It is truly farm to table. We would like to

Denis island is a dream with the turquoise water, water turtles even when snorkeling, land turtles of all ages, phantastic food and very friendly and professional employees. It is an island to relax and re-energize without partying. The island is to 70% self-sufficient on Food, energy etc.

After two months of traveling around the Seychelles islands (Silhouette, Praslin, Desroches, Mahe, La Digue) we can definitely say that for us Denis Island is the best of those we have visited. The hotel's infrastructure may not be the newest, but the staff's service successfully makes up for any shortcomings.

This was our 7th time in the Seychelles islands as this is our favorite country to vacation under the sun.

Since 2003 we have visited La Digue, Mahé, Ste Anne, Silhouette, and Alphonse (visited in 2006) was on the top on our list. Denis is now our favorite island for the following reasons:
- attentive, personalized, outstanding service: the very dynamic and attentive staff was outstanding to our every need. We were always pleased with the attention we received. We were never disappointed.
- home grown vegetables and fruits and exquisite meals: as vegetarians we were spoiled with a variety of mixed salads and delicious local hot dishes. We stayed 9 days but never felt bored with the meals (buffets, a la carte, even on the beach dining)
- tiny island but a variety of activities: kayaking, snorkeling, walking, biking, guided tour…
- adorable entire staff: from the gardeners, to the housekeepers , to the reception staff…
- only 23 cottages (with an amazing “garden” bathroom ) to make you feel like you are alone in the world!

We wish to go back to Denis on our next trip to the Seychelles. Thank you so much to the entire team for a memorable perfect vacation !

Cannot recommend Denis Island enough! My boyfriend and I loved our experience from start to finish—staff were extremely attentive to every detail, all of our needs and desires. Beds were freshly made morning and evening, champagne delivered to the room upon arrival, amazing dining experience with the best food we had in the Seychelles by far. A special thanks to Florence, Maud, Varaj, John, Joel, Vanessa, Zoro, Captain Michael Jackson, Saresh and Olive for making our experience incredibly personal and memorable. And the chef’s of course, for the delicious food! If you’re looking for a serene, intimate and relaxing experience, Denis is the place to go. 90% of the food is grown on the island so yummy.

Outstanding few days on the remarkable Denis Island. Stand out for us was the diving experiences, which were exceptional in everyway, from the friendly professional service to the breakfast buffet, and the sensational set menus where the chefs produced a dinner with incredible flavours from the farm. Next up is the nature; grabbed our bikes and rode around checking out the endemic birds, restored forest, and tortoises. Finally, with no wifi/tv in the villas, it was a great way to switch off and properly relax. Will definitely return for longer.

Difficult to know where to start, if you're considering Denis, don't hesitate, just book it. From the moment you catch sight of the island from the small plane as you approach the grass airstrip, if feels like you're arriving in somewhere very special, and it certainly is.

Set in the most beautiful location in the Indian Ocean on a small island surrounded by incredible sandy beaches and turquoise warm waters.

Everything here is first class. The private beach fronted cottages are very luxurious, so relaxing (no wi-fi which is great!) with lovely facilities inside and out, including an outdoor bathroom. Bikes are allocated to you to make moving around the island very easy.

The food is just about the best we've ever had on holiday, most of it sourced on the island from the farm and the sea, so fresh, high quality and flavoursome. The two nights eating at the beach, a creole night and a bbq night were really enjoyable.

What really makes this destination though is the staff, the service we received was alongside the best we've experienced anywhere in the world. Every single person we met were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help, too many to list really but we have to give special mention to Olive, Joel, Narender, Viraj, Suresh, Vanessa and Robert the chef who all looked after us so well.

Denis has its own PADI centre and I had a couple of really enjoyable dives with Bakari.

We very rarely return to a holiday destination as we like to try new places but we may well make an exception here.

What a wonderful island! We loved every minute of our, far too short, stay. The staff were so friendly, smiley, helpful and professional. The rooms were large and very comfortable with a gorgeous, private outside area leading to the beach and the sea. We were so impressed by the quality and variety of food, much of it grown on the island, which was delicious, a real treat.
Highlights include cycling around the island, cocktails and supper on the beach by firelight, and swimming with turtles.
Denis Island is a beautiful, tropical paradise, a glorious, peaceful retreat. We would love to return.

Denis Island was an incredible experience from the moment we landed on the grass runway the staff were welcoming and made you feel at home. It is a beautiful island and retreat to enjoy nature. The food was exceptional.

We had a great visit to Denis Private Israel. The island is magnificent. The cabins are well-designed and spotlessly clean. The beaches are beautiful. Most important, the team is fantastic; the level of service and the quality of the food is as good as you will find in the very best hotels internationally. Bottom line, if you want a great vacation to recharge your batteries after a crazy year, this is the place.

The ambiance is terrific but the staff will blow you away! My only suggestion is my next visit I will spend a couple of nights coming and going in Dubai. Food is quite good and the farm vegetables are exceptional esp the tomatoes! Their tipping policy is perfect.
