Playa Negra Guesthouse

The property is a mini animal sanctuary, with many agouti running around and sloths hanging in the trees. Many birds and frogs and even a kinkajou, although hard to spot. The hosts are very nice and helpful, Marise will make sure you and comfortable and Pierre will tell you all about the wildlife. The room is clean and comfortable, although there is no AC, so keep that in mind. It is walkable to Cahuita although a couple more min out of the way than some of the other hotels, wasn’t a problem to walk to the beach, park or city though. Overall safe, comfortable, and friendly, I would recommend a stay here especially if you want easy access to sloths and wildlife out your front door

A lovely 3 night stay in beautifully maintained tropical gardens and well kept comfortable 2 bed cottage. Lots of wildlife in the gardens and trees including Sloths. Hosts were fantastic and nothing was too much of a problem. Beautiful swimming pool and right on the beach. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance.

All was fine

A very pleasant guesthouse where we had a pleasant room and a large veranda. Nice big swimming pool and beautiful garden. The room is clean, has a fridge and kitchen necessities.

Just across the street from the ocean and beach, a beautiful, secluded property. Each room/cabins has private outdoor space. Our quad room had great mini kitchen type amenities. Ocean waves, sloths, parrots, toucans, iguanas, tree frogs and CONSTANT agoutis running around! A little paradise. The owners are very helpful. Our only complaint is that it was a bit of a walk from town for our six year old’s legs, but we knew that up front so the property can’t be faulted for that. Just lovely in every way! Beach toys, towels, and chairs all included too.

Incredible owners, perfect location, gorgeous grounds… we saw multiple sloths, toucans, parrots, tree frogs, and more… ALL on property!

We loved every second of our stay.
Place is run by 2 passionate owners. They shared local ideas and advices in between pointing out slots, iguanas, toucans that inhabit their wonderful property. Couldn’t recommend that place enough and can only be jealous of next guests that will be staying in Maria and Pierre’s property.

Marie and Pier are excellent host or the place and stay.

This CNN is a bird watchers paradise. Amazing natural property. The room # 4 had a squeaky bed but a great veranda for watching birds. Extra small table and chairs in the room would have been good. The use of the BBQ at the pool was wonderful!

Wow! This place is wonderful. Lovely room, beautiful grounds, nice pool. Excellent staff. Beach right across the street. Wish we stayed for longer than 1 night. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Cozy and friendly! Excellent location. Perfect for beach and natural living on Caribbean coast. Black sand beaches as well as white sand beaches are easily accessible. The host is very hospitable and welcoming.

Our bungalow was extremely nice, spacious, comfy beds and with basic kitchen supplies to allow us to cook basic meals. The. Grounds were absolutely beautiful and well-maintained. The hosts were generous with showing us the local flora and fauna, the large, clean pool was an added bonus to cool off and entertain our daughtet. The hosts even allowed us to use the pool and store our bags until we could check in to our next hotel as we had accidentally not booked an extra night and had to stay somewhere else one more day. Cannot recommend more highly!
