location
I travel weekly for work and stay in many hotels and usually like Art Series, but sadly not this one and I felt I needed to write about it.
Firstly I was allocated a dark apartment on the basement car park level-level 3, so even in the morning when it was light outside, it was dark inside, requiring lights on. However as I was on street the level the only window, with a few plants outside, allowed anyone walking past to see directly inside, so if the light was on I had to close the blinds.
I asked to move rooms straight away but could not do so until the following afternoon which was not a good start.
As a female on my own I felt a bit unsafe and almost trapped, having to close the blinds and not see any light.
The washing machine had mould inside it(!!) and someone's previous clothes. The dishwasher smelt (the filter had food in it) and need to be cleaned also as there was dirt all around the inside of it. Both appliances (in both apartments) need to be properly cleaned by hand, not just run a cycle with a cleaner.
The bedrooms were dark, one had no window facing outside but a window adjacent to the kitchen and the other had a high window that faced other apartments so blinds need to be closed for privacy. A very strange design.
The lounge are was entirely floorboards and no rug so it was not inviting.
The car park has limited spaces, I often returned from work and had one space to choose from and it was a small, tight carpark so if you have a large car it would be difficult. Additionally near the entrance off the car park were several old mattresses and rubbish-they were there for the whole week.
It was walking distance to St Andrew’s hospital. It was clean quite and the art works where nice
It felt a little worn
Everything about this hotel is great, from the staff to the cleanliness of the hotel and the location.
N/a
The hotel is in a great location, only about a 10‑minute walk to the CBD, and overall it is well appointed. The pool area is very nice, and although the fitness room is basic, it has what you need for a short stay. My room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable, which made for a pleasant stay overall.
However, the parking situation was a major downside. The hotel advertises parking at $20 per day, but they do not make it clear that the onsite parking is extremely limited. I arrived to find no available spaces and had to use the alternative parking, which was very expensive — I was parked from 7:30 pm to 12:30 am and was charged $90.
If you are planning to have a rental car I would advise finding another hotel with better parking options .
