Superb, will return
Pros:

Beautifully refurbished, every member of staff was engaged and welcoming. It had a great feel, an independent hotel that values it guests and delivers excellent service.

Cons:

Aux petits soins...
Pros:

Average which is a shame as a great location and a nice Hotel
Pros:

Breakfast was poor and very greasy
The room was on the top floor in the roof and therefore too warm with an AC that didn't work very well
The bathroom was very nice but let down by a very weak shower
Massage was absolutely excellent
Danny on reception was lovely but most staff disinterested

Flatters to Deceive
Pros:

I can only say that the Spa Hotel flatters to deceive. The frontage gives the impression of a grand five star hotel and the reception and lounge area are to match. However the bar lacks atmosphere and the decor is mostly 50 shades of grey, grey walls, grey carpet, grey wood work etc., it's all a bit yesterday. The food was quite unremarkable. Diner was okay but not memorable and breakfast suffered from the bain of many hotels; a partially working toaster that was so slow it would have been quicker to show the bread a heated argument! How difficult is it to get some decent working toasters?
Our room, on the top floor was large but didn't quite cut it. The tea tray set up where there's no socket for the kettle, a wall mounted TV that didn't swivel towards the bed and a wardrobe with the hanger rail fixed so high my wife couldn't reach the hangers; all daft things that detract from a top notch room. But, above all the bathroom, one of the largest hotel bathrooms I've seen had one of the smallest baths ever with just a spray-head over the bath as a shower. The tiny bath made for a really narrow shower with a nasty flimsy, steel, sharp edged soap tray intruding into the showering space. Just seemed rediculous given the floor area available for a bigger bath and a nice separate shower cubicle. The hotel boasts of having been refurbished so I just wonder if perhaps our room had not yet been done.

Never disappoints
Pros:

This is my go to hotel when I visit family. Never disappoints. Beautiful hotel, very clean, wonderful air conditioned bedrooms ( which were so welcome as I was there during a heatwave). Parking a dream, which in this area is almost unheard of.

One thing I must mention. It looks like more training has been given on allergies. Mum is Coeliac and for the first time her food was served on a plate that had a sticker confirming gluten free which was very reassuring.

I wish I could name and thank all staff as they are all so helpful and welcoming. I must mention the fab young man who was managing the bar on Sunday Evening ( wish I'd got his name). He was rushed off his feet but took time to go through menu and then delivered our order in person to the kitchen to ensure the chef understood the dietary needs and used the separate fryer etc for our order. That young man should be applauded for his Care and knowledge .

Roll on our next visit.

Great location, comfortable, but, feels like profit gouging, and tired in places
Pros:

The location is great. Electric car charging facility is a bonus

Cons:

Firstly, I’ve stayed here a few times, but, there are niggles. It’s a 4* hotel, that, in places is feeling tired
But, my bigger gripes.
The iron in the bedrooms are the horrible cheap electric ones, with no steam. They don’t get a crease out of anything. Worse, their cables are threaded through the ironing board, so, it’s always snagging. And feels cheap
The clothes rails in rooms have plentiful hangars. But, the room I was in, had double bar set up, but the lower bar was too close to the floor to hang men’s shirts on, and the upper bar wasn’t far enough away from the lower bar, so, your ( freshly ironed, still creased) shirts could not hang freely, and you ended up with more creases. Cracking result!
And don’t get me started on the drinks prices in the bar. Coke is only served in 200ml bottles, and works out 50% more expensive than beer for a pint. (And they charge you something like £2.50 for unlimited water, which I presume is tap water (albeit the menu says filtered)
