Nothing. The room was not what was advertised. The hotel said booking.com list a room this hotel doesn’t even have. Hotel staff said they would refund but I had to get the money from booking.com. The guy literally approved the cancellation while there.
The room was listed as a 2 bedroom with a king & 2 queens. It was only 1 bedroom with 2 queens. Not big enough for what we needed.
Location and amenities.
Nothing.
This is my favorite place to stay in Lincoln. It is a new facility. Very clean. I love the fitness center. I feel safe.
The price is often too expensive for me to be able to stay here. I travel often, but the price goes up and I work for a nonprofit.
We stayed here in mid-May on our way to a wedding in another state. This property was roughly halfway along our journey. The property, front desk area, and hallways were all pleasant, clean, and attractive. However, when we entered our room we noticed a "not fresh" scent and started looking around the room. We discovered that the refrigerator had been turned off and someone else's leftovers were in it in a Styrofoam container.
We brought this to the attention of the front desk associate. She was very empathetic and apologized for the oversight, gave us some rewards points as some compensation (which we thought was nice), and asked us to let her know if anything else cropped up. She may have offered to move us to another room, but we were okay with staying put. We very much appreciated her attempt to "make it right."
In the course of the evening we noted in a corner of the bathroom floor, two or three black hairs and noted that the shower curtain was a bit short for the height of the shower curtain bar, which made it hard to keep the water in the tub. Minor enough that we did not mention these to the front desk. The hotel breakfast was great with a number of options, no issues there. We also liked the king-size bed. We both sleep well on them, whereas the queen-size beds at many hotels don't seem as comfortable and we sometimes feel like we sink in the middle.
We like Holiday Inn Express because they have a no pet policy unlike most hotel chains (I have animal dander allergies) and will continue to stay at them, but the two or three small issues we found here were a little bit of a disappointment.
-----
A week later (late May) we stayed again at this property on our way back home from a wedding in another state. As with our previous recent stay, the property, front desk area, and hallways were all pleasant, clean, and attractive.
Although the room itself was fine this time, we noted one of the bath towels was somewhat frayed and there was a faint stain on it. Another towel was not hanging and folded on the bar neatly like towels usually are, almost like it had been used by someone before we arrived at the room. My wife was bothered enough that she took the one with the fraying and slight stain to the front desk.
Interestingly, the same front desk associate was there that had been there the week before (and was very helpful with a previous guest's leftovers in the turned off refrigerator during that stay). Perhaps my wife didn't convey her points about the towels articulately enough or convincingly enough because the person at the front desk refused to replaced the towel and was not helpful. My wife was rather unhappy and came back to the room upset.
Later in the evening we found the bathroom exhaust fan would be slow to start, not start, or sometimes stopped. Also, when I got up late at night to go to the restroom, the toilet would not flush nor would the water refill. Then it would suddenly do so after a 1/2 hour or hour. It happened a couple of times. Since the experience with the front desk had not gone well earlier, we decided not to bring up these issues.
However, when we checked out in the morning there was a different person for the morning shift. We told him in passing about the bathroom exhaust fan and toilet issues (I don't remember if we mentioned the frayed/stained towel). He took a great interest and wrote down what we mentioned. He asked where we were traveling back to which was another eight hours on the road. He offered us snacks and a drink for the road and as a thank you for letting him know about the maintenance issues since sometimes that is the only way they learn about them.
We appreciated his attempt to acknowledge the minor inconveniences during our stay. While in the end both stays at this property were somewhat rectified in the end, we may look at some other Holiday Inn Express properties further back west of Lincoln or east of Lincoln on our next road trip to Minnesota. This area is the halfway point in that journey.
Everything else
The view wasn’t the best
We had a stand out front desk experience. We were helped by the Night Shift person who was just coming onto shift while the dayshift person was just finishing up with another customer. The dayshift noticed we were a family of five and immediately went to get extra towels. We typically end up having to go back downstairs and ask for enough bath towels, so this was quite nice. The room was clean as well. The bathroom had some wear but it was nothing that would have been unexpected. We switched to Holiday Inn after Covid when the other hotel chains stopped cleaning the rooms daily and Holiday Inn seemed to be the only ones still emptying garbages and not requiring you to leave your three day old towels in the hallway. Six years later, and we are still happy.
DO NOT STAY! They have BED BUGS! My family and I woke up to bites and bed bugs. General manger was horrible and would not show their face and talk to me.I tried to ask for compensation for all the items I had to buy to get rid of the bugs and they would not take my calls! Worst management I have ever experienced! I had to call the health department because they have an infestation and would not do anything about it! Do yourself a favor, go to a better hotel!
It was very convenient!
