I came in response to the offer of £65 for bed and breakfast per night. I had a very good room and any requests were responded to with no problem. Friendly welcome, as always before. A good additional short break.
Pass codes are all wrong 😑. If your station business don’t bother. 🥴
Nice room breakfast good hotel had a nice feel for an old hotel .it's good to keep these old hotels alive.charging for parking is a no no just make it first come first served.price not too bad as ferry included although deal I booked gave us 3 nights with one nights meal included .must say that food was good wife had the lamb I opted for the fish and chips wish I hadn't as was served a kiddies piece of fish.although I was annoyed decided to say nothing at the time .apart from that it was a pleasant enough stay but value wise probably too much .
We used the function room for a wake recently and the whole experience from arrangements to final settling up was managed with professionalism and exceptional customer service. Family and friends stayed at the Hotel and found the rooms and service of a high standard - although views slightly marred by the fog ! The finger buffet was really lovely, the attention to detail and service was just great - thank you all so much
Have stayed at this hotel on numerous times and always enjoyed my stay,I must say the breakfast on Sunday was not that good quality
Very warm and friendly welcome nothing was too much trouble
Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean
We loved Harry’s bar and the murder mystery was great fun which included an amazing two course meal all together brilliant time great value for money and would definitely recommend to friends and return
Lovely classic hotel. Nice breakfast included.
The price was great for a double room but we had a little dog that added £25 to the cost of the room which I thought was a bit steep for a dog the size of a yorkie.
Just home after another excellent stay. Friendly and helpful people looked after us and gave the usual warm welcome. Lovely room, good food and comfortable surroundings. Thank you everyone for a great stay.
Brilliant stay . Room spacious and comfy. Staff really friendly and polite
Value special offer including ferry crossing. Clean no noise service good In all a fabulous stay. the weather outside awful but inside hotel warm and friendly
Outdated, creaky hotel with no WiFi in rooms and no mobile reception. This hotel must have been great in the 1800’s but lacks basic services
Visited for an overnight stay, room was warm and comfortable although bathroom was small making the toilet difficult to use for the larger person.
Breakfast was excellent and staff were all friendly and helpful
The staff are great! Welcoming, helpful and really lovely. The room was quiet, warm and very comfortable. We had a superb nights sleep! Spacious bathroom with a bath & plenty of hot water. Kettle with plenty of coffees, teas, hot chocolate sachets & milk. Harry's bar & the staff were also great. The hot breakfast and buffet breakfast are excellent value for money and yummy! We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much!
Super location, with “first class” helpful staff.
Room was very cold for first night but temperature improved for second night. Location of wall-mounted electrical heater within the room was almost ineffective; as it was located in the corridor adjacent to entry door to room.
An established hotel with dated decor nevertheless clean and comfortable and has a good atmosphere.
After being let down at very short notice by another hotel for our AGM . The team at the Royal Esplanade provided us with the conference room . A three course meal for forty people , and lots of extras to ensure our AGM was a success . They achieved this in four days . The food was delicious, the service was excellent, the staff was professional and friendly. The rooms we stayed in was sparkly clean and very comfortable. Big Thankyou to Tracey , Daria , Lisa and Hannah . A real gem on our island.
Everything was great, staff happy and helpful, room very clean and well appointed, food perfectly cooked and tasty would recommend
Lovely old fashioned hotel with proper door keys and breakfast cooked to order! Lovely homely atmosphere and the staff are very caring. Will undoubtedly return.
The hotel is located on the seafront in Ryde opposite the Hoverport so easy to find if coming from the main land although I was there out of season the hotel was quite busy with most of the rooms booked, My room (41) was located on the 1st floor over a few stairs and around corners but after a few minutes I found it once inside the room it was very clean and well presented and staff were friendly ,polite and welcoming
Breakfast was served in the main lounge with a cold buffet and hot menu
Went for a short winter break. The room was excellent. Lovely and warm seeing though it was January. Comfortable bed. Very nice en suite. The hotel building is quite grand and the breakfast room was beautifully set up. The coffee lounge served good coffee and cakes and the sofas were a great place to sit and watch the hovercraft leaving and arriving. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was brilliant and we also ate in the bar one evening where good hot food was served up at a very reasonable price. Great location close to the transport hub where trains, busses, ferries and the hovercraft can all be accessed. Am about to book another short break today. Thank you hotel.
Great location and so convenient buses rail and ferry connection which is ideal if you leave the car at home. It's a lovely Victorian hotel with large warm rooms and comfortable beds. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and helpful.
The breakfast choice was great and service very quick. Special mention to Amelia our waitress who was a charming friendly young lady.
Enjoyable 7 night stay.
Only negative. Lounge seating very uncomfortable.
If I could give it 3.5 stars I would have done. 4 stars is on the generous side and 3 stars would be a bit mean considering the value and the points made below. Plus points: The owner and staff were pleasant and helpful. particularly regarding our little dog who I hope caused them no trouble in return for their kindness. The room and en suite were fine and the other sea facing views It was lovely to overlook the pier, hoverport, Portsmouth in the distance. - I suppose not everyone would like it this busy. The hotel was also ultra-convenient for transport to the other parts of the island - bus and train opposite. For those who travel light, it would be perfectly possible to come without a car, The breakfast was absolutely fine. Nothing fancy but everything we wanted.
Minus points: Overall the hotel looks rather tired. As a tiny example, the front door really could do with a lick of paint.
We stayed in January and the lunch/evening kitchen was closed - fair enough in Jan but we had received the wrong info about a bar meal being available. The panelled bar looked quite snug, by the way but I didn't partake. (and there was a good 7-day fish and chip shop 50 yards away.)
.I booked based on the availability of a lift, which there was, but there were steps to the front door and more steps between the lift and the second floor room. Maybe it's my fault for not asking more questions.
All in all, the price, the good standard of room and quality of breakfast made it an OK stay without being anything spectacular.
