Waldhotel Doldenhorn

Our visit was great. Very friendly staff (no Swiss German but still flawless communication in German). The suite Sonnbühl was wonderful, even though it’s very open-plan (no bathroom door).
The spa area was very enjoyable as well. We visited 4 different saunas and a steam sauna, all of them clean and nice. The pool is cool, it has an inside and outside area. There are lots of spots to chill with nice views of the mountains. The cold bath was too cold for us, but there are other good options to cool down (showers, a cold mist shower, a bucket with cold water, you can step outside as well)
The food was amazing, and they were very flexible with the orders.
All in all an exquisite experience!

We stayed at the Waldhotel for two nights where we enjoyed hiking and the amazing scenic views of the Alps. Hotel had breathtaking views of the Alps. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was large and updated. We did have a challenge figuring out all of the electronics to get the lights on and shades closed.

Check in leider ein wenig lang, da nur eine Person.
Gratis Parkplätze.
Grosse und saubere Zimmer.
Grosses und abwechslungsreicher Spa Bereich mit Pool. Lange Öffnungszeiten.
Bei Ankunft ein Getränk an der Bar inklusive.
Beim gehen Flasche Wasser erhalten.
Schönes Ambiente.

Frühstück:
Einfach Hammer. Viel frischen Käse und Fleisch zum selber schneiden. Alle warmen Speisen werden frisch zubereitet und serviert.
Neben Lachs auch Shrimps und Cottage Cheese.
Inklusive frischen Orangensaft und Prosecco mit und ohne Alkohol.
Sehr lecker war die Zwätschgewähe.

Ich kann das Hotel nur empfehlen.

Beware of additional fees such as electricity surcharge !!! Finally got a refund for it but the whole experience was impacted by this unfair practice..
During our stay , three of the sauna also did not work !

Unfortunately this hotel was a disappointment:
- does not compare to other Relais & Chateaux
- very unfriendly / unhelpful front desk staff (Maia in particular)
- room was dirty/in disrepair (broken glass on balcony, dog hair, tv only worked when lights were switched on)
- cigarette smoke always filling our room if windows open
- spa is awful, no attendants, no extras like tea, apples, etc, no towels
- breakfast buffet was mid (had better in high mountain huts)
- dinnner options were confusing and the owner and his son were snooty
- this hotel gets a ton of business from Backroads which is great but they maybe rely on that without worrying about other guests much.
- Beautiful area, great town, but expected better.

If you are looking for something like this but want far better service and overall experience, I recommend: Spa Hotel Jagdhof in Austria (not affiliated but stayed there in 2024)

Super hotel with great staff. Excellent place to stay

Bel hôtel et spa fantastique. Très bon accueil également.
Seul regret, la chambre n’avait pas de volet et un velux laissait passer trop de lumière. De plus, l’isolation phonique des chambres était déplorable, permettant d’entendre vraiment tout ce qui se passait dans celle des voisins. Dommage pour un établissement de ce standing

Unfortunately this appears to be a nice hotel online. The experience has not come close to my expectations and even worse there has been not one apology or admission of wrong doing. We had a late check-in and I communicated several times with the hotel to arrange beforehand. As it’s in the middle of nowhere I wanted to make sure everything was sorted before arrival. It was confirmed multiple times that keys would be at the front desk. They were at front desk but unfortunately not a single door was unlocked to get into the hotel. They have not apologized, comped the room or anything. We were standing outside in the middle of the night in the pouring rain for a very long time. The way we made it in was not their doing. Most hotels would be mortified to do such a thing!
Additionally, coffee machine broken, no down alternative pillows for an allergy, no turn down service. Those are all minor details I would never have complained about but after the super stressful event they put us through without apology or any amends I will throw them in. If you like a decent hotel this isn’t for you.

Eine kleine Oase am Ortsrand von Kandersteg.aussergewöhnlicher Spa -Bereich.freundliches,aufmerksames Personal, geschmackvoll und landestypisch gekleidet,Spitzen - Gastronomie und excellente Weinkarte.
Diskretes Management , Familiengeführt.Einziger Wehmutstropfen: Zimmer war sehr klein und dunkel und leider nach hinten mit Blick auf Felswand und in die Jahre gekommene Holzterrasse vom Zimmer im unteren Stock.
Insgesamt aber fünf-Sterne Bewertung!

Cet hôtel est tout simplement fabuleux. Il est situé en dehors du centre de Kandersteg, dans un écrin de verdure. Les chambres sont jolies et confortables, le petit-déjeuner est copieux avec beaucoup de produits frais. Nous avons mangé le 1er soir et le repas fut divin. Le SPA est également très beau avec piscine et plusieurs saunas ainsi qu'un haman et un jacuzzi. Quelques jours avec ma fille qui nous ont reposés. Nous reviendront c'est sûr :)

Sehr schönes Hotel - tolles Zimmer und schöner, aufwändig gestalteter Spa-Bereich. Top-Personal.

Wir sind mit unserem Hund angereist und es war wie immer alles in bester Ordnung. Freundliches Personal, hervorragendes Essen, wunderschönes Zimmer. Überaus guter Service beim Nachtessen. Wunderschöne Umgebung, für Hunde sehr geeignet. Wir freuen uns schon wieder auf ein nächstes mal.
