Central location is excellent. Rooms are dated but clean. A modern thermostatic shower would be a star up compared to the "bath tap blender" currently installed. There's no air con, just be aware of that. The sink didn't drain so teeth were brushed over the bath.
A full cooked breakfast was extra, which is OK in principle and we were happy to pay but the meal was very poor indeed. Well presented, but a fail nonetheless. Really poor. Paper thin tiny bacon slices, overcooked, black pudding warmed rather than fried or grilled properly, greasy hash browns, half-cooked tomato, average sausages. If I'm paying extra for breakfast, it needs to warrant the price, this was well below par.
Hot water available for making tea is in thermal jugs and just isn't hot enough to make a proper brew. Not being able to properly brew tea is inexcusable as that's the most important thing at the start of the day. Coffee was very weak and other guests were commenting on it too.
Great location
Staff not overly helpful with check in or in the bar area so we ended up not bothering to eat here.
Fourth floor room was stifling hot- although this was during the heatwave so I’m sure many hotels struggled
The room was very comfortable and I was grateful that a fan was provided. The breakfast was very good and the staff helpful. I also had my evening meal in the restaurant which was good
Although I knew there was parking at the hotel I didn't know that that was charged extra but it was not too expensive and was so convenient as my event was close by in the cathedral.
Nice little pub, clean room and great parking.
The room has no Air Con, it was the highest recorded heat for a June night in the UK, so the room was very hot. However we knew that before we went as we have used the hotel before. A few beers before bed!
Location excellent.
Breakfast, which was an extra, was absolutely shocking. Paper- thin overcooked bacon, warmed black pudding instead of nicely crisped, undercooked tomato, greasy hash browns. Water not hot enough to be tea. Really disappointed to the point where I feel ripped off. Don't have breakfast, you'd be better off having a G's sausage roll and that's saying something.
Room was fine very hot only one fan but to be fair not much the hotel could do about that it was clean and bed was really comfortable , breakfast however was another matter definitely not up to scratch the buffet had no butter no orange or apple juice , no cups a sign saying yogurt and berries would be supplied on request because of the heat but when requested was told that they only had natural yogurt and no berries . My husband waited over 20 mins for his breakfast order to be taken and I called the guy serving over as 3 tables had their order taken before us . My husband said that we had been waiting a while only to be met with real attitude from the manager as how he was sorry but had just come off a conference call when informed he had managed to serve other tables were told they were short staffed and they were working shifts back to back , no apology just ‘welcome to my world ‘ we left cancelling breakfast and went elsewhere it really was a shambles!
Unfortunately we won’t be staying again which is a shame as have stayed before as the location is good for visiting Exeter .
An dem Abend wurde ein Fußballspiel übertragen, welches wir gerne sehen wollten. Es hat alles super geklappt. Man hat unser Anliegen sofort umgesetzt. Vielen Dank
Bei nur 1 Nacht gab es nichts auszusetzen.
Convenient for the quarry area
No air conditioning and the rooms are in a horre dous 1960's block attached to the very nice old pub
Room was fine
Unfriendly staff from start to finish (same lady). Unwilling to help us when the room was extremely hot.
Very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, good value for money
Not a negative as such since this is a very old building and it was very hot weather when we stayed. The room was very hot, retaining the heat from outside. This is due to the age of the building so not a criticism in anyway.
Convenient for city and Quay , staff really good , rooms clean . Restaurant good and well priced .
Comfy, spacious room. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely grub
I liked everything.
