Pros:

An evening meal in the restaurant was good.
The location was good for eating out, visiting attractions and shopping

A small table and chairs for the kettle doubled as a desk
Due to the location in the old wing of the building which had a number of steps and corridors to navigate a member of staff offered to help with the luggage as I am a lone 75 year old who may have struggled. A modern block at the back of the building was considered but the alternative room was on the 4th floor and the lift was not working.
The building has character

Cons:

Due to the age of the original building which has several rooms I encountered some problems. Single glassed windows required maximum heating but the heating in the bathroom was not working. When this was mentioned the response was to add it to the repairs list. The bedroom was cold until I manually put it on which did not make the room welcoming.
The bed dominated the room leaving no space for the luggage except for the floor or on the bed.
I personally found the room depressing. The decor and general colour scheme was not attractive.
Due to the temperature and the shower being over a bath I was very reluctant to use it.

Very well located with a secure car park- room was spacious and comfortable with everything you need for a short stay

Lift was out of order but no communications were sent ahead of arrival to make guests aware. Was tricky for those with accessibility needs.

Cons:

The lift wasnt working and three 70 year olds with heart conditions had to walk up 4 flights of stairs. (70 steps) .....not ideal at all and although weve stayed here before we will not be doing so again.

Nice stay, lovely staff
Pros:

The staff is very friendly, the breakfasts were delicious, the location is great, as you’re near the quay and the city center.

Cons:

The rooms are a bit outdated. Would’ve loved a (mini) fridge or something to store a water bottle or something else. Nice to have a toilet with a toilet brush as well. The lifts were not working which was also inconvenient because we had to drag our heavy luggage up to 2 flights of stairs.

Disappointing
Cons:

Parking isn’t secure. Car attacked during the evening when we were staying. Poor communication from hotel staff providing us with incorrect information re crime number. Zero offers of assistance with cleaning the broken windows/glass as well. All the more annoying considering you have to pay a premium to use the car park. I have stayed here twice before and will not be doing so again.

Cons:

Lift broke down after 1 day. Wasn't repaired till l left after 3 days. I was on the 4th floor. At 68 it was a struggle to climb the stairs with my equipment

Good place for a short break
Pros:

Excellent location. Wetherspoons and Italian restaurant across the road. Parking available.

Cons:

Food only ok and a bit pricey. Only us in the restaurant so no atmosphere.

Staff in the pub attached to the hotel were a little indifferent. I asked if I could add the drinks we were having to our hotel bill and was told a straight 'no',which was a little surprising. No explanation, just no, we can't do that.
