This is a lovely place to stay for comfort, good food and welcoming and helpful staff.
Pros:

Very comfortable and relaxing
Great views
Perfect location for walks to and around Skiddaw.. literally from the hotel up onto the fell behind.
Staff were faultless and very helpful.
A cosy place and excellent food -perfect after a long day or just for to unwind
Very comfy bed.

Cons:

The road was busier than I expected but I did stay on a weekday.

The Food, The Food, The Food!. Worth staying just for the Food!!
Pros:

The Food!!!! It was truly exceptional. 4 of us ate differently in the evening and we couldnt stop talking about it. The breakfast was equally off the charts!

Cons:

Not being able to stay a second night and have more of the food! :-)

Our favourite dog friendly hotel
Pros:

The best dog friendly hotel, we stay every year. The staff are lovely, food is lovely there is nothing to fault and it’s a good location to explore other areas.

Pros:

Have not explored anywhere north of keswick,very impressed,on arrival treated very well.Arrangements had been made for a surprise stopover of a good friend,she was accomadated and meals were booked together ,meals are amazing,puddings to die forxx.Weather was warm,went to Buttermere on wednesday it was beautiful.

Lovely hotel with stunning views around comfy bed and pillows,breakfast was fantastic.staff were lovely the bar was nice to sit in.

Frühstück qualitativ sehr gut, Früchte und Joghurt hochwertig
Abendessen sehr, sehr hohe Qualität und gute Auswahl
Zimmer groß und sehr schön ausgestattet.

Cons:

Badarmaturen am Waschbecken unpraktisch, Heißwasser fast nicht benutzbar, da nur getrennt von Kaltwasser verwendbar…

Ich wusste nicht, dass dieses Hotel offensichtlich viele Gäste mit Hunden beherbergen würde, die auch während der Mahlzeiten im Speisesaal (mit Teppichboden) anwesend sein würden und tw auch auf den Sofas in der Bar sitzen. Vom hygienischen Standpunkt her, gefällt mir das nicht so sehr.
