Dreadful food
Pros:

We only stayed for one night whilst on our tour of the National Park. At the end of a tiring day it would have been really nice to settle in the restaurant for a nice meal. Sadly it was not to be! We arrived to find a very poor selection of starters, mains and desserts. No one seemed capable of topping up empty containers despite me showing my displeasure. Quite sad really because the room and position of the hotel was good. Didn’t have a breakfast as we left at the crack of dawn with a sub standard packed meal. Avoid.

place to visit again
Pros:

Friendly staff, we as offered welcome drinks and cold towels but lack of training including the restaurant chefs how to deal with the guests,
Great in-room amenities,
Breakfast is decent but needs much more improvement(sausage was overcooked and dry) no alcohol options except beer, power failure in the room due to key pocket issues, no hot water for a new hotel this is something to look at, in-room directory misguiding with meals times, mini-fridge is available but rather empty.
Will return and recommend for a pleasant stay

GREAT HOTEL – FRIENDLY PLACE
Pros:

Six of us stayed at Oak Ray Wild Hotel at Tissa for two nights on 11th and 12th February 2019. This hotel located along Tissa - Katharagama Road, quite close to Tisawewa, is quite new, opened only two months back. On our arrival at around 1145 we were pleasantly welcomed by smiling staff. The rooms were allocated without delay and baggage brought to our rooms promptly. The room was comfortable and adequate, being about 20 x 18 ft excluding the bath room. Included in the room were, two beds with clean sheeting, air conditioner, tv, table, fridge, bench for suitcases, cupboard for clothes, kettle, tea and coffee, dressing table with large mirror, stool and safe. The washroom too was spotless and included clean toweling, hair drier, shower with hot water and of course the usual shower gel, shampoo, body lotion and shower cap. There were ample square type - 230V - 13A - electricity outlets in the room. Free Wi-Fi in the room. The rooms are in three to four separate buildings, each with three floors. There are no elevators. We opted for ground floor rooms to avoid having to climb stairs. Centrally located is a clean blue swimming pool.
The garden is pleasing with tastefully laid out flower beds and decor. On the left as you enter is a souvenir shop selling Buddha statues, carvings, carved furniture etc.
The dinner served in buffet style included western as well as Sri Lankan cuisine. We were welcomed at the dining room with smiling staff, seated on a table for six and drinks served. Though they serve wines and beer there are no hard drinks on offer. The food was tasty, not too spicy and wholesome. There were fruits on offer as well as tea and coffee. The restaurant is open for dinner from 1900 to 2200 hrs.
Though we were late for breakfast on the 12th morning after our trip to Sithulpahuwa, we were accommodated to the remains of the buffet breakfast that included fruit juices, fruits, variety of bread, rolls, eggs and Sri Lankan cuisine such as string hoppers and milk rice. Service at the restaurant was good with cordial staff.
All of us agreed that it was a great stay!

Lovely, but those flies!
Pros:

Simplistic, beautiful large rooms facing the lake. Tea, kettle, toiletries etc. Room safe. Lovely staff, pretty setting with a great view of the lake, the pool was greenish.

Our set breakfast was tasty and ample. A plate of fruit, juice, sachet tea/coffee, delicious pancake with sweet coconut cardamom filling on our 1st morning only(?) eggs, toast, jam, butter.

Flys!!!! ! I'm Australian and live in bushland, so am very familiar with insects, however the flys were out of this world! The hotel needs to address the problem, as it makes eating in the open air dining area extremely uncomfortable, near impossible. Also, the ants found every packet of food in our room, even a bag containing crackers I tied to the wardrobe hanging rod over night.

The curtain in our room covered our door if we wanted to block out the sunlight, or close it for privacy - photo. Our door made a horrendously loud grinding noise, on the floor, when opened.

The randomly placed post in our room was in an annoying position - photo.

Great club sandwich and fries for Rs 700, beer Rs 650 lion lager 500ml.

No information regarding the hotel facilities or restaurant prices in our room. As informed on arrival, wifi is pretty much non existent in the rooms, use in communal areas. However, it was ok in 203 using my phone, but not for my husband. Only water in fridge, no mini bar.

I would love to stay again, but those flys!!!

Barn door bathroom
Pros:

Old broken hotel. The bathroom door was what you expect in a barn. The shower head was broken, so that more water came out the side than the top. The floor also sloped away from the drain, so water collected at the other end of the room, where my nice dry clothes sat. But worst of all, the toilet didn't flush - and even when that was reported and supposedly fixed, it still only managed the one more flush - so we gave up. The front door (glass) didn't fit in the hole for, letting weather & noise in. The photos on the website show a mastery of lighting and flattering angles. Lastly the TV reception was non-existent - this was explained as a one-off problem with the provider, which makes sense until you see other, earlier reviews of this hotel, that report the same issue, for months.

Great stay!
Pros:

Clean and big room with great bathroom and comfy big bed. The staff is so kind and accomodating. We really dont get the bad reviews. Ok so there is no infinity pool but it would be foolish to expect that for this price. The view across the lake is beautifull!

Decent Hotel
Pros:

I have stayed almost all the properties of Oak Ray Hotels and this one was the last hotel of my trip to Yala. The hotel gives its own view to tissamaharama lake with beautiful comfortable rooms. The staff were very friendly and more keen about the stay and relaxation. We had breakfast and lunch from the hotel which was reasonable for what we paid and rich on taste,

Decent place require lot of maintenance work
Pros:

I went with my extended family. We booked 4 rooms. The location is fine. There is a lake right next to it so there is always a cool breeze. The staff is friendly. The biggest problems: Lousy internet at the lobby and no internet at all in the room. Some rooms are falling apart. Broken shower head, toilets that don't flush and doors that don't close are a few problems we encountered.

Pictures are nice. On arrival not the same
Pros:

Nice view. Good Pool. Good for a family stay. I booked this hotel seeing the pics on web and confirmed. On my arrival I was really disappointed. Though they are cheating with pics to attract more people.
I would recommend any one to come and stay here. Bathrooms are tiny and not functioning well.
This hotel is completely different look from the pictures on web.

Beatiful view and kind people
Pros:

Such a beautiful and peaceful place. The staff made us fell so welcome and the service level was extremely high. They really did everything to make us enjoy the stay, which we did. Unfortunately we only staid for one night, would have liked to stay longer. We enjoyed a nice dinner after our safari and the next day we spend some hours swimming and relaxing by the pool.

overnight stay at OAK RAY
Pros:

Visit to Yala National Park, stayed with family. Reception was very good and the Front office Manager made us very comfortable. The room was good, however the dressing section lighting was not sufficient. He also informed as they are likely to shift to a bigger place there may be shortcomings. overall good.
Since our food choice was vegetarian, Mr Shanka took great care for our dinner and breakfast and gave us choice of Sri Lankas vegetarian dishes. Big thanku to your team.

Lake View
Pros:

Stayed just for a night. Room was on the ground floor facing the swimming pool. And a huge lake. Room was alright but small and toilet door could only be locked from the inside. Be sure to keep doors closed as they have small insects that fly into the room. Overall nice and quiet. WiFi only at the lobby.

Nice hotel on the lake edge
Pros:

Nice hotel on the edge of the lake.
Nice views, excellent pool.
It is next to the lake, so many bugs...
The restaurant is OK, we had a a-la-carte diner. Nothing special, just OK.
We had a breakfast package, as were to go to Yala Nat. Park. This was a very good package.
Helpful staff. Clean and spacious rooms.

Awful place
Pros:

We went here for 2 nights & the place looked like crap. It's a far cry from the photos appear on internet & a shabby old hotel which needs immediate re-furbishment. Not to mention da giant centipede appeared in our room next to the bed !! Bathroom door was broken and the rooms are not spacious. Do not recommend for any guest. But the staff were really supportive & tried their best to make our stay comfortable. But we cancelled our 2nd night booking as this place was not comfortable at all.

Decent Hotel but very tiny bathrooms
Pros:

It is a nice hotel.. The rooms are big.. And the lake view is awesome. However there are very few plug points for charging all ur electrical equipments. Also everything in the bathroom is falling apart, the bathrooms are quite small as compared to the rooms.

Base for Yala NP
Pros:

We used this hotel as a base for our trip to Yala NP - highly recommended.
My only problem with the hotel was that we were on the top floor and there was no lift!
Otherwise it was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent

terrible inedible food
Pros:

we stayed at Thaulle and one night went to Oak Ray resorts restaurant after reading good reviews, but our experience was terrible. we ordered the following:
1) Pumpkin with baby prawns soup - there were no prawns in the soup. they got us the soup when we asked about the prawns the manager came sheepishly and said they didn't have prawns, then why did they even give us the soup w/o informing us
2) Amritsari fish from their Indian menu - it was terrible. only tamarind and tomato sauce and extremely sour. we wasted the whole dish
3) Fish and chips - the only decent dish
4) Grilled lemon butter seer fish with mash potatoes and sauté vegetables - they took lemon butter too literally, there was actual lemon squeezed with melted butter, the mashed potatoes were just plain boiled potatoes mashed and the fish was hard and tasteless.

terrible terrible food. pls do not waste your money and time visiting this place.

Nice Hotel on the lake
Pros:

Nice looking hotel on the lake with a pool. Great views over the lake from the rooms although I did struggle with the room key to open the room. There are is no lift, but only two levels.
There is a safe, mini bar, tea and coffee facilities and wifi.
The wardrobe was up against one bed which made it hard to open, plenty of power outlets.
