Saplinbrae Hotel, Mintlaw (near Peterhead)
We recently stayed at the Saplinbrae Hotel and were thoroughly impressed. The hotel offers a warm, comfortable atmosphere with the added convenience of on-site parking.
Despite being busy during our visit, the staff remained professional, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout. Their friendly service made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Dinner was the highlight of our stay. As we hadn’t booked in advance, we ate in the bar rather than the restaurant, but the food was still excellent and the setting was relaxed and welcoming. If you want to dine in the restaurant, it’s definitely worth reserving a table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
Breakfast was also good, with plenty of choice, but it was the evening meal that truly stood out.
Overall, Saplinbrae is a charming and well-run hotel that delivers on comfort, service, and quality dining. We highly recommend it for a relaxing stay in Aberdeenshire.
Apartment had been recently decorated andcwas in excellent condition.
Very quiet in a quaint setting
Was really nice place to stay, room was great, service was excellent and the food was fantastic.
The Cedar chalet was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Enjoyed breakfast and dinner twice each, where the food was quite tasty. Would love to return someday.
Altogether excellent. Staff, food and accommodation can't be faulted.
Friendly staff, very peaceful location.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Hotel could do with a facelift, paper peeling of the walls and damaged paintwork both in our room and throughout the public rooms.but the most concern was the amount of flies around our table both at the dinner and breakfast as the were a constant irritation at all meals.
We booked a superior king room and were disappointed, the bedside tables was made of thin tin and clattered whenever anything was laced on it.There were not any toiletries in the bathroom as i would expect in any hotel of this price and rating.
The food was well cooked and served by helpful pleasant staff.
What a hidden gem of a hotel! From the anticipated needs when booking to the friendly efficient staff on arrival and throughout out our stay and not forgetting the quality food served. Probably the best cooked breakfast I’ve had too!
I also have to mention the spacious deluxe room that was spotlessly clean and the team who keep it that way.
Lovely location for a quiet stay. The staff were very welcoming and room clean and very comfortable.
We had dinner and the food was excellent - sauces so tasty and the fish wonderfully fresh.
Handy location for jumping onto the NE railways trail nearby and also for various local attractions.
This is a lovely hotel on the outskirts of Mintlaw. As an old house, it has character. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The meals are excellent. This was our second visit and we will definitely return.
Stayed here before so i like it enough to come back however found the room a bit cjilly and couldn't work out to get heating on. Next morning staff member showed me how so not a big issue. Its a really nice old building.
Very pleasant country house hotel.
We had three rooms for one night, to celebrate a family birthday, and had dinner in the restaurant. The rooms were all extremely comfortable, with everything you could need. the bathrooms were great too. Dinner was really excellent and my son who has a dairy allergy was given his own menu to choose from, this was brilliant, and an added extra that was greatly appreciated. We had drinks by the fire before dinner, and returned there afterwards. Breakfast was delicious, staff so helpful and friendly. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Amazing place, had everything and more to make sure any visitors are comfortable even things we didnt know we would need.
I was there with the children and they barely wanted to leave the grounds but when we did venture out there is loads of places nearby to visit. Staff were very helpful and lovely
Good choice of food with additional selections that could be made by the chef for dietary preferences e.g. vegetarian. Friendly staff. Clean and comfy rooms.
Love Saplinbrae and this was my fifth visit, and my wifes first. Thankfully she loved it as much as i do. Lovely room, comfy bed, great shower, very peaceful and the food is always outstanding but this was the best yet! Amazing staff as well.
A friendly, welcoming lady greeted me on arrival and explained everything simply and professionally.
The room was warm, comfortable and most adequate for one night at the hotel. Very comfy bed.
The teas and coffees were well stocked with my favourite Clipper coffee - tremendous attention to detail, imo.
The bar restaurant has an open fire which was continually stocked as it was snow and sleet outside.
In the evening, the food, service, and value was nothing short of excellent.
Breakfast was very good too. The lady who served me was helpful and polite.
The decor isn't overly Scottish like a lot of Scottish hotels. Just enough tartan without feeling like your trapped inside a Bay City Rollers reunion concert.
Clearly, a well established hotel which is worth the visit.
Good value and excellent food.
Very comfortable hotel with great food. Lovely dining room, worth going to even if not staying there.
