Fortuna Hotel

A great place, well located near beach and eateries, decent value, but a few points...

This is run by remote management team, only the (excellent, friendly) housekeeping and maintenance staff are on site. We booked via airbnb, and the management team were very friendly and responsive by airbnb messaging.

Excellent location and value for money attracts lots of younger guests (spring break period when we visited). Most are great, but a selfish minority can make a lot of noise late at night, or play loud music round the pool. The management take this seriously and try to discourage it, but with no-one on site, particularly at night, the loud and selfish largely get away with it.

Talking of noise, the aircon, extractor fan and fridge in our unit were all pretty noisy, particularly at night. Thankfully we visited in March, I imagine this would be a greater problem in hotter weather.

Surprisingly, the kitchette area has no utensils/mugs/plates etc. What you see in the photos is what you get. The drawers are all empty.

Large and comfortable bed, very welcome.

Other than that, a wonderful place - two lovely pools, a generally relaxed and friendly vibe, great location, good value for money, maintenance and cleanliness all good.

The location was the best! One block from the ocean. Easy to get to the restaurants without being right in the middle of them. We visit every year and love this particular area. The beds were comfy. Place was clean and AC worked great. The pools were refreshing and clean as well. It is a bit of a younger crowd still for the Spring Break months. It wasn’t terrible though. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves.

This is not a hotel, that is the first thing you should be aware of. This is an Air BNB style property with a number of rooms. The rooms themselves are in good shape and the deluxe room we stayed in was very nice. The A/C was loud and didn't work particularly well in February so I would hate to visit in the summer. The kitchenette is very handy and the full size refrigerator was nice.

My major issues with this hotel are two things: the information on the hotel listings is incorrect and deceiving. They say they have two pools and I could only find one, for example. They say they have a 24-hour front desk when in fact there is only a "host" there from 9-4 and even then it was hard to find someone. Second, the communication they provide is pretty pathetic. When I arrived after 4pm on my first day at the hotel there was no one to check me in (there is no indication of this on any listings on any website including their main website) so i couldn't check in to my room. Why didn't I call the main number or the after hours number or the corporate number? I did and they all had full mailboxes and no one answered. Pretty great customer service, wouldn't you say?

This is the first place i have ever stayed where i have to pay for another hotel room so that I could check in to the first hotel room.

This just seems like a very bare bones operation that doesn't do the bare minimum and I was very disappointed.

Our trip was a decent experience overall, but we did encounter a bit of a frustrating situation. While the accommodations were fine and the amenities were enjoyable, we were unexpectedly questioned by management regarding the number of people in the pool. We had made three separate reservations, each with a designated number of guests, and assumed that this clearly indicated our total party size. However, it seemed that there was some confusion or perhaps even suspicion about our arrangements. It was a bit of a bother to have to explain ourselves and provide proof of our reservations, especially given that we were following the correct procedures. While the issue was eventually resolved, it left a slightly negative impression on what was otherwise a pleasant stay.

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff are very friendly and they go above and beyond to help with any needs you may have. The 2 pools are very nice. The rooms are very clean and updated. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is actually set up as a motel. The property was clean and the office staff were friendly. The location was just a short walk to the beach and I appreciated them providing chairs, towels and umbrellas. My only complaint is that the rooms weren’t updated. The water did not run clear and the bathroom smelled a bit musty.

I appreciated the free beach umbrellas, chairs and towels. Overall, everything was good with one exception - the old school LOUD window A/C. It would be great if they switched them to the modern quiet wall ones. Impossible to sleep without ear plugs otherwise.

Customer service was wonderful. Location and price couldn’t be beat. Loved the ability to borrow beach chairs and towels from front desk. I personally appreciate when places only do housekeeping upon request so I enjoyed my stay here. Extra towels, toilet paper, hair dryer and iron were in a drawer. Mini fridge, microwave, keurig, tv, etc. Everything I’d need.

The place was nice, but they’re really picky about how many people are in the rooms and who you bring But other than that, it was great

Nice, quiet, relaxing, clean. It was the perfect location. Minutes from the beach, restaurants and fun! Hotel provided towels, chairs and umbrellas! Size of the room was huge. Fit my family perfectly. We will be staying in the future!!!!!

I ended up staying here because of the discounted rate thru hotels.com. This was my first time staying at a boutique hotel. But, It was a solo trip so the facilities and amenities were perfect for me. The beach and restaurants are a short walk away. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Great value for the cost: the hotel does all the basics really well. The staff were very kind and lovely people. We appreciated the beach chairs and appreciated fresh towels everyday. The water pressure on the shower was strong. There was a quiet lounge to get work done. Location was close to the beach and restaurants.

The Fortuna was great. Everybody we dealt with was super friendly + they are very focused on keeping the hotel incredibly neat and clean. The pool was clean, quiet and relaxing but when we wanted some party atmosphere, we were just a couple blocks from the beach and close to restaurants, bars, etc. We do plan to stay there again. Retro style motel vibe is exactly what we were looking for. Rooms were nice, pool courtyard was lovely. Super close to bakeries, shops, restaurants and beach. Bathrooms in rooms could use some love.

The room was very small, making the beds hard to access. The property allows dogs and the dog next to us started crying at 8am til 9pm one day, started again the next day too. It weed and pooped all over the floor in the room as it was left alone so long. Two reports to office and nothing changed. Was glad to check out and will NOT be rebooking on our way back thru fort Lauderdale.

Shower never got hot and pressure was to much

Very nice. Warm and welcoming. Easy access to beach!

Front desk lady was very nice. But Unfortunately we found a big cockroach in our room and had to get switched our last night. A/C isnt the best and had to leave some clothes behind because of the situation. Very dissappointed
