Good location and friendly staff, but the internal noise makes it a poor fit for anyone who isn’t a very deep sleeper.
Pros:

Genuinely friendly staff and a great location in the Historic Center. The windows do an excellent job blocking outside noise.

Cons:

Noise from inside the hotel is a serious problem. The door barely blocks sound from the staircase, and guests and staff were loud well past 10:30 PM every night. I’m a good sleeper and it still affected me. No rules about noise despite plenty of other posted rules. A heavier door would fix this almost entirely. The room also had several maintenance issues: loose hooks, a broken safe, wobbly bathroom fixtures. Breakfast is fine but unremarkable with no real choice, and being asked for a review the moment we finished eating felt more like a cheap diner than a hotel.

Pros:

Ich habe das Zimmer für meine Tochter gebucht. Sie wurde sehr freundlich aufgenommen und vom Hotelpersonal bei der Organisation ihrer Weiterreise unterstützt. Zum Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse haben sie ihren Teller sehr hübsch dekoriert. Sie hat mir berichtet, dass sie sehr zufrieden war.

Pros:

We loved everything about Friends Hotel & Rooftop! We were warmly greeted when we arrived which felt good after a long day of travel. The room was relaxing, bed was comfortable, and shower was hot. Breakfast was amazingly delicious and the location was perfect to walk around town and explore.

Pros:

Location was great. Close to historic centre without the noise. The breakfast included was amazing. Beds were comfortable

Cons:

No hot water in the sink. Showers were nice and hot though. This is typical for historic locations in Ecuador.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
Pros:

It’s a unique building with lots of character. We had a great view from our window. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was hot. We had easy access to filtered water. The staff were very helpful, kind and accommodating. They helped us organize tours and taxis when we needed them. When we went to Cuyabeno they stored our extra luggage for us till we returned. The breakfast and coffee were excellent and there are quite a few restaurants close by.

Cons:

There are a lot of stairs and no elevator. With adjusting to the high elevation of Quito we sometimes found the stairs challenging.
