Best Western Hotel Blumarea

We stayed as a family of four (two adults, a three-year-old and a one-year-old) in late October. The staff were excellent from the start – friendly, responsive and very helpful in arranging our taxi from Olbia Airport (€210) and ensuring our rooms were next to each other. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was great with plenty of choice and alternative milks available.

However, the main reason we booked this hotel was the “heated” pool, which unfortunately was not heated at all during our stay. The location is also a bit misleading – it’s in Lu Bagnu, not Castelsardo town. In October it was very quiet with few restaurants open, and walking to Castelsardo isn’t safe as the path stops halfway and the busy narrow road has no pavement. We relied on taxis: €20 each way to Castelsardo, €50 each way to Porto Torres, and €180 to Olbia (we booked the return transfer ourselves).Buses are available, unfortunately not at the times we needed them for the above journeys, but we used a bus for a day trip to Sassari (I think it was just €2 each way for the adults and the children were free, and we used a bus from Olbia to Olbia airport which was €1 each and the baby was free.

The people were wonderful though – both hotel staff and locals were so warm and kind, especially with our kids. We had a lovely holiday overall, but next time we’d stay closer to Castelsardo town or hire a car.

Our room, the shower runs hot then cold, the temperature didn't remain constant for the 2 weeks we were there.

The swimming pool was dirty, it had a constant dirt ring running all the way around it. We asked for the manager to address this, it never happened. You wouldn't give a guest a room with a dirty bath, so why would you do this with a swimming pool? Very disappointing 😞 We never saw the pool attendant taking samples from the pool either to check the water quality. On our last day i had to tell the pool attendant to unblock the lower pool beacuse it had fully blocked with leaves and was overflowing onto the sunbed area, making it very slippery and dangerous to walk on. The pool attendant just sat on his phone.
The pool is awkward to get into and out of if you are disabled. The step on the far side side is too deep.

Cleanliness of room and public areas was great but we felt the swimming pool needed attention here and there. Check in and check out staff very friendly and helpful however when I explained a problem with the creamer in my room, the reception lady advised me to go to the pool bar (quite a walk and inconvenient) as she couldn’t help. The welcome drink was a lovely touch. There were free parking bays just outside the hotel which was great. The room (we paid for a sea view) was a great size and there were plenty of sockets and amenities such as a kettle and a fridge. The hotel is just across from a beach although we didn’t go there as it was raining. There were restaurants nearby with takeaway options. Be mindful that even though this is a lovely hotel, it is about a 15 minute drive into Castelsardo.

We received a warm welcome. The hotel is bright and modern. Our room is very clean and comfortable. The beach is a few minutes walk away and Castelsardo just a few minutes drive or bus away.

Super lækkert værelse med altan og havudsigt, helt klart et must ikke så meget gang i denne by meget stille. Vi have 4 nætter blev vækket midt om natten på 3 af nætterne pga strømsvigt, som gjorde at branddøre smækkede i af flere omgang samt falsk brandalarm midt om natten….desværre meget larm om natten

Charmant hôtel avec une piscine magnifique, un petit déjeuner buffet de grande qualité, chambre confortable et snack/ bar piscine très appréciable!
Le personnel était très sympa et aidant.
Seul bémol: la taille de la salle de bain, Minuscule pour une chambre familiale de 4 personnes!
L’emplacement est pratique proche plage, restaurants à proximité aussi mais les environs ne sont pas des plus jolis!

Receptionist was lovely, all staff were very friendly. Great breakfast and lovely to have a free welcome drink. Enjoyed exploring Castelsardo. The pizzas across the road were excellent!

Salle de sport fermée car c’est dimanche d’après la réception. J’avais choisi l’hôtel pour ça. Pour le reste, prestations correctes.

My friend and I had a problem with the hire car which we picked up from Olbia airport. We had an incident on a previous day before arrival at this hotel. Marina, the receptionist, went above and beyond helping us with obtaining a quote for the damage. We are most grateful.
