I can't say enough about our recent stay at Brijrama Palace in Banaras. We were there for Shree Kashi Viswanath Darsan, and from the moment we arrived, we were completely captivated by the palace's stunning location right on the banks of the sacred Ganga. It truly feels like a place that embodies the spirit of Banaras, and our time there was amazing.
The food was a major highlight. Chef Akhilesh is a genius in the kitchen—every dish was fantastic, but the Gulab Jamun was a true standout. It tasted exactly the way it's supposed to, with a genuine hint of rose. Our server, Bikas, was incredibly kind and took such good care of us in the restaurant. The best part, though, was when Chef Akhilesh came out personally to see how we liked the food and even offered to make us something we’d like for our next meal. That kind of personal attention is just incredible.
What really set this hotel apart was the genuine warmth of the staff. Traveling with our five-month-old baby, we were a little stressed about logistics. But the housekeeping team went above and beyond, kindly helping with sterilizing our baby’s milk bottles. Plus, they were so helpful in arranging a wheelchair for darshan for one of our parents who had accessibility issues. Their thoughtfulness took a huge weight off our shoulders and let us just relax and enjoy our trip.
The whole vibe of the palace is peaceful and welcoming. The staff's dedication to making guests feel at home is what makes this place so special. I wholehe
Property is an outstanding palace. The service the cultural traditions were increíble
What a lovely and beautiful hotel!! The best place to stay in varanasi. Cecilia was beyond helpful. She made our stay wonderful. She made sure all our questions were answered. Govind and Nand were especially helpful. The chefs and waitors catered to our every need. It was a beautiful vacation.
.
Access to the property is terrible. 30 mins of walk through the very narrow and unhygienic lanes.
The property itself is good and the staff is super helpful.
However the access situation to go in and out absolutely crushed our experience. Not recommended.
serene and tranquil environment; offered a variety of hotel activities; fantastic facial in the spa with Merry; wonderful attentive staff - Rudresh, Ashutosh, Avi, Ravi & Fahad
Amazing experience beautiful historical building and the staff is the best
Great location, service and property
Excellent
It’s an AMAZING palace located in the best part of Varanasi, a 5 minute walks to the ceremony sight and right on the ghat. We only planed 1 day stay but wish we had stayed longer. The staff made us feel like family and helped us make it to everything!! Ravi and the chef were super nice and accommodated our preferences making our dinner and breakfast unforgettable!!
Fantastic
Try to arrive during the day, so you can come by boat to the hotel. At night, the boats aren’t used, and you have to walk a considerable distance through dark narrow alleyways to reach the hotel from the nearest car. The rooms are a bit disappointing, small and not very luxurious, but clean. The food is delicious, with a wide variety of choices. The yoga instructor on the roof is sweet and does his best to encourage mind body connection. But it’s the location, with the ghats directly accessible by elevator, that makes this palace special.
Property is very expensive
Transport difficult
Inaccessible
Amazing location
The property and staff were wonderful, but there were some unexpected surprises. I did not know ahead of time that a car could not bring me directly to the hotel and I would have to take a boat. I enjoyed it much more on the return trip. All of the stuff was really wonderful, and I truly felt like I was an honored guest. The boatmen,Mamta and Khushi at reception, and everyone who worked in both restaurants were wonderful. Ongoing upgrades, especially the electrical outlets and switches in my room would make everything more convenient.
Brijrama is a unique property primarily due to its location. No place can come close to its convenience and proximity to Kashi’s holy sites. Its location also creates challenges with accessibility. We had sr citizens with us and climbing the stairs from ghaat wasn’t easy. Overall experience was positive. Food was good. Service was slow for some reason. They need to add staff to the kitchen or restaurant. Driver Rakesh was very helpful
Absolutely amazing stay. Our stay in the hotel was from start to finish an experience in itself and we would not want to stay anywhere else in Varanasi.
Beautiful renovated palace, extremely convenient and the restaurant was superb!
If you want to experience Varanasi then Brijrama Hotel is a great place to call your home base! It is perfectly located in a beautiful former palace right on the river. They will provide a boat to take you up and down the river to watch and participate in one of the greatest spiritual traditions on earth!
Very expensive, but does not really meet expectations. Guests arrive by boat as cars can't reach the property due to its location directly on the Ganges in old Varanasi. The Ganges had flooded during our stay, so the boat entry was cancelled. Two rickshaws and 10 minutes walking did not make for a good start. The flooding, of course, cannot be helped. It should not be held against the hotel. However, the vast majority of the rooms have no views. The BrijRama is licked in on three sides by older, runned-down buildings. Our view was a wall about 4 feet away. Only the 4 suites have Ganges views. Horrible, when you pay $550 per night. The staff was wonderful, and tried their best to make up for our disappointment. The hotel gets 5 stars based on the strength of the staff itself. Very nice, helpful, friendly, professional, and exceptional.
