I was worried about staying here after reading some reviews and realizing it was outside of the city walls, however my fears were unfounded. The hotel is a few feet from an entrance to the city and the fact that it was outside made parking and luggage drop off a breeze. We had friends staying inside and it was somewhat of a nightmare to drop them off. In fact I'm not entirely sure that we won't receive a fine in the near future for trying to drop them off.
As for the hotel, we had two rooms and both were big and comfortable. I only took videos of the rooms and can't figure out how to post them here. The breakfast was generous and even had an option for freshly cooked eggs. We weren't able to do e at the hotel but the dinning room was very full of ambience and beautiful. The hotel has a lovely patio that we sneaked out to at night and I can imagine it would be lovely to sit out there with a glass of wine and unwind at the end of the day.
I would highly recommend this hotel and Obidos and would stay here again if we are ever in the area again.
Arrived before 10 am. Offerred coffee and storage of bag until room ready. Room great, breakfast amazing. Had dinner at hotel, food really good. Pleasant stay. Helped with bus and train route on day of departure. Very helpful staff.
The first impression when you enter is: being impressed by the thousands of books which are the characteristic point of this hotel. Very unusual and extraordinary. We had a modern furnished nice room within these very old walls. The location is perfect to explore wonderful medieval Obidos by walking. It feels like timetravelling within these old castle walls.
The reception staff was very helpful and very friendly, gave us great advices for beaches nearby. Parking was a bit challenging in the narrow streets as there were no hotel dedicated parking space.
To ME, this was the best hotel experience of my life. We had room 1 which may be described as an upgraded room I assume. I say this as in the element we were in which is a historical town. The hotel is just outside the fortress walls and has easy access to the inner portions of the walls with residences, shops and restaurants and with beauty everywhere. Getting back to the hotel, its room, restaurant and complete interior is amazing and a site to see. We look extremely forward to going back to this hotel in the future and will request the same room. I must point out there is a private terrace that is accessed through a window which was my favorite surprise. We also had perfect weather so this always adds to the experience. I wish we stayed there longer.
Very
very good experience in this fantastic hotel. Big, well cleaned suite. confortable beds. Very good breakfast. Must see hotel.
This hotel is a beautiful unique charm. The only improvement would be the need for newer mattresses.
Beautiful property, very unique.
Just wished they had shampoo & conditioner after a long travel.
If you are looking for a unique experience, this is certainly one!
The concept of the library-themed hotel is a great idea, but unfortunately, the execution falls short. The whole place feels outdated and poorly maintained. Much of the charm is just a façade, and there’s a noticeable musty smell throughout the building. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, a disappointing experience despite the promising concept.
Very large and spacy rooms, in a very old building,
Comfortable beds, nice sheets and pillows,
Great having the toilets separated from the showers (in different divisions)
Awesome breakfast! One of the best ever!
Five star's staff,
And the greatest environment to make a reunion!
Staff is absolutely lovely
One of the coolest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Prime location just outside castle wall and very walkable to all the shops and best restaurants. Fun, funky, cozy rooms and a very helpful staff. Beautiful courtyard to sip your glass of Vino Vehrde and read your book. Amazing breakfasts with beautiful pastries and a hotel cat that is precious! All around great vibe!!
This quaint hotel has a gorgeous theme of books lining all the walls and every nook and cranny. It is a book lovers paradise. It is in an old building so the stairs are a bit worn and the rooms are dated, we had second floor and the bed design was futon like on a raised platform. Great courtyard for a coffee or a drink. Breakfast was lovely and eggs could be made cook to order and were delicious too. We enjoyed an evening meal in the dining room with great service. Wine was a little pricey.
Such a quaint and unique hotel! The staff was incredibly welcoming. The atmosphere is a book lover’s dream! Would absolutely recommend if you’re staying in Obidos!
The hotel is charming and offers a very "home away from home" feel but all the staff are the real stars. Each and everyone are just naturally good natured and accommodating. Lydia always greeted me with a smile and made sure I had everything I needed. The bar and restaurant are not only convenient but also a very beautiful spot to enjoy your most wonderful, top notch meals!
A wonderful hotel, charming in every way and perfectly situated. Thank you. Family will be back
A good hotel very near to the historical area
Hotel is in need of an upgrade/renovation. Basic elements are missing like a kettle to boil water.
Beautiful boutique hotel themed around Books. The decor is really nice and cosy. The Bar/dinning room is absolutely beautiful. The staff is extremely nice and it’s walking distance to visit everything in Obidos. Our room was very nice and I will surely be back.
