Staff were very welcoming. Decor was amazing. The suite we were given was fantastic, comfortable and very relaxing. We dressed for dinner and didn’t feel out of place.

This is a delightful place to stay, with fantastic rooms (we had a lovely junior suite) including beds that are just a joy to sleep on. We enjoyed excellent food - both the evening meal and the breakfast were well presented and delicious, and the service was prompt and pleasantly friendly without being intrusive.
The hotel is wonderfully tranquil - beautiful Victorian architecture and exquisite grounds. A splendid choice for an overnight stay.
Lovely, period property but updated with comfortable facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Bruno who couldn't have done more for us. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection, couldn't fault it.

the receptionist was a little unprofessional - she made some comments about another guest, and was a bit off-hand at one point. Several of the waiters were excellent and really friendly, helpful and professional - one male waiter was a bit off-hand. Otherwise really good.

This is a beautiful hotel in a historic building. We loved the elegant style of the place and the very pleasant staff. The warm welcome from the night porter on our late arrival was particularly appreciated. We also liked the tea and coffee station in the room with a decent sized teapot and a good selection of teas. Breakfast was served in a lovely room with pleasant views onto the grounds.
We found the pillows uncomfortable (one was too hard and the other better but rustled a lot).
I was also disappointed by the choice of bread at breakfast: sliced loaf from the supermarket. Given that there is no shortage of artisan bakeries in the area, I would have expected better quality bread from such an establishment.
We also asked three times for our bathroom sink to be unblocked (very slow drainage) but it was never done.

The rather unsmiling utilitarian reception behind 2 computer screens, rather than a warm welcoming smile and for the price, an evening turn down and room refresh service in the bedroom should be normal?

We stayed in a twin room, the bed was firm and pillows a little lumpy but just not my personal preference
