Great location very friendly staff
Pros:

Location and a lovely breakfast

Cons:

We were traveling with our dog and dogs are not allowed in the bar or dining room. Due to having the dog we were asked to eat our evening meal and breakfast in the reception area - which in itself we didn’t mind however there are no suitable tables in reception to eat from so it is pretty uncomfortable.

Pros:

Food was reasonable

Cons:

No car park but on road parking not too bad. We are in our 70’s and had to maul suitcases up two steep flights of steep stairs, no lift. Paid for a superior room but the bed was so small and uncomfortable. The room should have had a king size bed. Room was very hot but it was not possible to open any windows.

The Pentland was not Penthouse
Pros:

The location, parking and breakfast were all excellent. The quaint nature of the building and its interior were pluses.

Cons:

There was no hot water. Tepid at best and I wasn’t able to take a shower though I really wanted to. It had probably the worst WiFi I have ever had at any hotel anywhere! The sheets and bedding were clean but just looked old. The pillows felt like they were bought at the dollar store.
I would not recommend or return in the future.

Started very well, ended not so impressively

Location and bar meal in evening. Very good good and friendly

Cons:

Breakfast was awful. Bus tour had been in before us and although we were were in for breakfast an hour and fifteen minutes before breakfast finished the hot food was not being refreshed so some had run out, all tables were dirty, no glasses or cups or cutlery. On asking the single waitress on duty she was uninterested and it was about twenty minutes before we got cutlery and glasses. We gave up waiting for cups so did without a hot drink or hot food

Great , homely , good food and service.
Pros:

Stayed at sister hotel Station St ( as I had inadvertently booked single twin and I wanted a double ) . Staff were very friendly , great onsite bar and dining with homely feel . Close to everything .

Cons:

All good.

Parfait pour prendre le bateau pour les Orcades le matin de bonne heure
Pros:

Hotel propre et d'un bon rapport qualité prix.
Petit déjeuner copieux ouvert à 6h30

Cons:

Chambre très bruyante : la fenêtre à guillotine ne permet ni l'isolation thermique ni surtout sonore. Jusque tard dans la soirée, passage de voitures aux échappements modifiés et les mouettes très bavardes à partir de 5h du matin !
