Great location with a short walk to the lake, beautiful rooms and very comfortable. Delicious food, All the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The ground were nice.
The hotel is just soo dated. A big refurbishment is needed.
Clean room, good breakfast.
Small room with poor view. Monsoon shower only, no handset and tricky controls.
Wow! Such a beautiful place ,me and my daughter spent time researching the history of the house so interesting.
We were amazed at beautiful the house is and the gardens, so much love and care has gone into keeping it looking so beautiful by the lovely gardener we got chatting to.
The staff, Helen, thank you so much for making our stay so perfect, going above and beyond to make my daughter’s special birthday stay so very beautiful. Room no 6 was a magical, she was living her twilight dream with those early morning views ,
And the restaurant and bar staff thank you for the cocktails, chats and laughs!!
You were all so fabulous, we hope to be back one day the 8 hour drive was so very worth it !!!❤️

The location was amazing, very close to Lake Windermere. The grounds were picturesque with plenty of space to go for walks or take in the view.
I would have given a score of 10 rather than 9, but the room next door kept leaving their dog in the room alone and the dog constantly barked and whimpered (without taking a breath!). It kind of ruined the tranquility of the hotel vibe.
Extremely dog friendly and accommodating. Wires were amazing!

The hotel had upgraded my room without charging me extra, and it was a gorgeous room! Both staff members that I've talked to were super kind and welcoming. The view from the windows was very pretty.
The bath tub and shower were a bit difficult to figure out at first. And a metal piece had fallen out from somewhere and I didn't know what it was.
A real mixed bag this place. We had the 4 poster bedroom with lake view and it was beautiful, as were the grounds and scenery outside the hotel. But inside was very dated, old brown carpet all through the hotel, like going to your nans house as a young kid. That kind of decor. The prices were also insane! We’re not frugal by any means and have no problem spending over the odds if it’s worth it, but £55 for 2 small, cold sandwiches one with just salad in it and 2 cocktails, one of which was wrong, (asked for a mojito, received a rum with lemonade) this after not having the ingredients in stock for the cocktail I actually wanted, was crazy. Also £9.20 for one pint, beyond London prices. It just doesn’t add up, especially when there’s a 10% service charge added every time you want something from the bar. The evening meal was quite nice and enjoyable, but at breakfast there was over a 45 minute wait and had gone off my appetite by the time it arrived..and with only 3 other groups at breakfast at this time it’s hard to justify the delay.
Attentive staff, gorgeous grounds, and lovely views. Clean room, comfy large bed. Staff were very accommodating provided a mini fridge and iron on request and even rang to let me know I had left a bracelet.
Very over priced and Ambleside and Windermere are both far away, no local shops or anything nearby. Not much hot water for a shower, shower over bath and bath doesn’t drain shower water away enough. Small average room for the price and small tv. £18 for a double gin, bar food menu limited and quite pricey. Paid £370 for two nights with no breakfast.
