Whilst it is very interesting UNESCO heritage building and the rooms are superb, the service seems lacking compared to our recent experiences in Kerala. Reception is mediocre and waiter staff are leisurely. The food was better than average but we thought westernised a little too much. The location is terrific with an intriguing entrance off a narrow alley.
Visited Haveli Dharampura & Golden Haveli in Feb with sister. It was an experience we both wanted to have after my last visit to Lakhori restaurant in Haveli Dharampura in oct 2023.
Haveli is located in small gulley of chandni chowk near jumma masjid where a car cant reach. For the first timer it feels overwhelming trying to make your way through the narrow gali. Walking between shops, people , scooters and cows...😆.
But once you reach haveli your world changes.
It takes you back in time beautifully and artistically restored to its pride. We loved watching " kabutarbaazi" & kite flying in the terrace of haveli...waking up to the azaans of jumma masjid ...open sky with stars and litup jumma masjid view is all ethereal.
Staff is extremely helpful and Courteous.
Being Indians we could easily navigate ourselves through chandnichowk in rickshaws. We loved the stay and vibe.
We preordered a vegan 7-course dinner for 5 of us from the U.S., France, and Malaysia. Special efforts was made for our dietary considerations, including one vegan person with low salt requirements, and all the dishes were truly excellent. In addition, we had a. wonderful server who added to the enjoyment of the evening. Highly recommend if you can manage the cost.
Yes, it’s pricier than some hotels in Old Delhi, but you get what you pay for, cleanliness, service, location, and a sense of history. I’ve stayed in five-star chains, but this one has soul. The haveli itself is the best part of the trip. If you love the idea of sleeping in a 200-year-old building but still want AC, good Wi-Fi, and a hot shower, this is your place. The staff make you feel like a guest, not a customer.
I traveled solo and felt completely safe and comfortable here. The staff remembered my name, helped book a rickshaw tour, and even called the driver to make sure I got back okay. The room was cozy, and the old architecture gave it so much character. Highly recommend for solo travelers.
A wonderful hotel , great food and very friendly staff
The allure is more than the substance. I was looking forward for this. The overall experience was average to below average. Nothing special here in terms of the food or experience. Very slow service. Overpriced limited value for money. It is set up more for Western tourists that do not have an exposure to India.
Visited Haveli for their lunch tasting menu. Glad to have spent time here as it was not only a beautiful place With delicious food but also offered excellent and warm service. Rajan was welcoming and friendly and made the experience so much enjoyable! This place is not to miss when visiting India!
Old Delhi can be intense, crowded, noisy, and chaotic. Haveli Dharampura offers an oasis of calm right in the middle of it all. You can explore the lanes by day and come back to a cool, quiet room by night. Don’t miss the rooftop at sunset! You can see kites flying, domes of Jama Masjid, and the golden hues of the city. I ordered masala chai and pakoras, simple but perfect. It’s one of those rare Delhi experiences that feel both local and luxurious.
Beautiful heritage hotel in old Delhi, restaurant good, room noisy if on the road.
Not too good if you are not too mobile, down a narrow uneven side street.
The hotel is as pictured, restored to an amazing place. It's definitly worthy of the Unesco standing. The rooms are nicely decorated, very clean, all amenities. I could hear the neighbors and some of the curtin's had a gap you could see in/out. The staff is fantastic, from house keeping to registration to restaurant staff. Sunin was my go to person, he arranged rides, tours, took care of anything I needed. The breakfast was fantastic, with many Indian dishes to try. Dinner was also very good, just a bit spendy, the dinner show only lasted for 2 dances which was a bit disappointing.
What you should know is that the hotel is in an alley, no car can drive to it, but the amazing staff will come out and get you from the road. Old Dehli is a bit scary, many homeless people, trash every where, all alleys, but again the staff will walk you to and from. I would still recommend this historic hotel, it really is unique, and the staff will take care of you.
Haveli Dharampura isn’t just a hotel it’s an experience! Arriving in Delhi as our first stop, I wasn’t sure if throwing my daughter into the chaos of Old Delhi was wise or not but reading about the beautifully restored Haveli I really wanted to experience it and so glad I did! From the moment we walked in, it was instantly serene and we were treated like royalty. We were immediately given refreshments and told about the history of the Haveli. The restoration of the Haveli is truly impressive and impeccably done. All the workers were so lovely and hospitable, I didn’t get all their names but remember Joseph who is the head of marketing stood out for his enthusiasm and passion for the Haveli. Our room on the 2nd floor looking down onto the courtyard was absolutely lovely, and most important to me, QUIET! (I am going to take a moment to give a shout out to Sanjay of Journey India Online for always securing quiet rooms for me throughout India…look him up. He curates the perfect trips based on your needs! https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1062901-d4083650-Reviews-Journey_India_Online-Ghaziabad_Ghaziabad_District_Uttar_Pradesh.html).
At sunset there was traditional kite flying on the roof which my daughter and I both had a chance to try and the view from the rooftop is spectacular. We had dinner downstairs, which was delicious and later there was a traditional Kathak dance and live music. I had read in reviews about the music and performance being loud but the performance is only 20 minutes and the live music is a completely reasonable volume and I thought both were wonderful and it was quiet by a suitable hour (around 8:30-9pm). I highly highly recommend Haveli Dharmapura to anyone wanting to have an authentic experience with a slice of luxury. It was a PERFECT introduction to our 5 week tour of India!
Thank you Haveli Dharmapura! I will be back on my next trip to India.
Beautiful historical building located in Old Dehli with full immersion in the heart of the city. The staff is very friendly, and professional, helpful and accompanying you if needed to the main street. Security present all the time. The rooms are nice, with beautiful doors, comfortable and clean, a bit of noise from the street, but I enjoyed it, since I was looking for this kind of experience. A very delightful experience and I strongly recommend it!
A very special place that I will always remember! The haveli is located in the middle of the old town of Delhi, quite an adventure to get there through the narrow roads, but we were picked up and helped by friendly staff.
The haveli is very nicely renovated. There is a roof top bar from which you can do fly a kite and enjoy the lovely view.
The restaurant has very good and tasty food, we ate there the two nights we stayed at the hotel.
The staff if extremely friendly! We stayed in the other part of the haveli and they accompanied us every time we went from one building to the other.
This is a place we can truly recommend!
Such a beautiful hotel
Great location right in the heart of Delhi
This is converted house many original features still there
The staff are amazing….Curry for breakfast…..
You must go fly a kite in the evening
Was disappointed staying here. Situated in a very noisy and unsafe environment. The roads leading to hotel are not accessible to cars. My elderly parents had difficulty navigating the multiple steps leading to the hotel. The lanes out the hotel have abundant pickpockets loitering, so safety is a concern when stepping out .
It is not worth the price.
Fantastic stay!
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Old Dehli
Full of character and tradition but with a modern twist.
Room was beautifully decorated and appointed- very comfortable.
The food in the restaurant was fabulous but above all the service was incredible! Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone in the hotel was very attentive.
I would highly recommend this lovely hotel you will not be disappointed
I joined Tripadvisor quite recently, well, let me look back and write a review of a place I visited about a year ago, but it is still deeply in my mind and it is worth to share.
Haveli Dharampura - UNESCO Awarded Heritage, a luxury boutique hotel,
which I discovered and happily booked.
The hotel is situated in the heart of Old Delhi, near the Jama Masjid Mosque, in Chandni Chowk, a historical, but quite hectic area, where Haveli Dharampura is a jewel and a piece of serenity.
The uniqueness of the property was the most appealing. Authentic architecture and design, where the sense of India could be found in every detail, is absolutely gorgeous. It is a true masterpiece!
I was welcomed by General Manager and felt how he cares about every single guest and makes everyone feel unique. I am really thankful for such a warm hospitality!
The room was spacious and comfortable with all necessary contemporary facilities.
Indian sweets in the room were a welcome addition.
It was an adventure to walk around the hotel, which offers different activities and atmosphere depending on the time of the day.
Glittering and beguiling evenings, refreshing and relaxing mornings.
Haute cuisine restaurant offers authentic dining experience.
Breakfast is served daily. Buffet style and à la carte options are available. Indian masala chai enriches your breakfast time with aroma of cardamom and ginger, evokes feelings of warmth and peace of mind - the exact feelings I still hold in my mind!
There is a wide coverage on the Indian and international media about the history and renovation of the hotel. Some newspapers articles and archived photos could be found in the lobby, what is also very welcoming and informative.
It is an honor to stay there!
We stayed here with our teenage kids, and everyone had something to love. The kids were fascinated by the architecture and the rooftop kite-flying scene. We adults appreciated the spotless rooms and warm hospitality. It’s a wonderful way to experience Old Delhi; the markets nearby have changed a lot since I lived here around 20 years ago, but the energy is still the same. We would love to visit again and would recommend it to any families out there that enjoy history.
We had a wonderful 4 night stay here. The haveli is a little oasis away from the bustle of old Dehli, but 10 minutes walk from the Red Fort, Spice Market, etc. It's easy to get into the centre of Dehli by tuktuk or the metro. We ate one night in the restaurant. As mentioned in the reviews, it is slightly expensive but the quality is excellent. The staff were so kind and attentive, without being obtrusive. Each evening there's kite flying from the roof, traditional music, or dancing at dinner. We would definitely recommend this beautiful historic haveli.
