Hotel Amber

siamo arrivati non con molte aspettative, date le molte recensioni negative che abbiamo letto.
la posizione è ottima, il prezzo nella norma: 71 euro per una camera da due, per 4 notti.
la prima camera che ci hanno dato era molto piccola, e l’acqua non funzionava.
tuttavia sono rimasto sorpreso dalla disponibilità dei due ragazzi che erano in reception: non hanno tardato a darci una nuova camera nonostante l’orario tardo.
la seconda camera era un po’ più spaziosa, e la doccia funzionava (incredibilmente la prima doccia con acqua calda dopo un mese di viaggio in india!).
Tuttavia il letto era piuttosto sporco e abbiamo chiesto venisse cambiato, e così è successo. ci è anche stato detto che il giorno dopo ci avrebbero mostrato diverse camere e ci avrebbero fatto scegliere quella che avremmo preferito, cosa non da poco!
Alla fine ci siamo accontentati di questa camera, nonostante qualche parte del muro con muffa, un odore abbastanza presente di umidità e di muffa stessa e un climatizzatore aggiustato in un modo poco convenzionale che puntava direttamente sul letto senza possibilità di essere direzionato (dopo essere stato a Mumbai mi è venuto il raffreddore).
Amber hotel rappresenta una costante che durante il nostro viaggio in India abbiamo ravvisato nei nostri soggiorni: se ci fosse un po’ più di cura, non si chiede tanto, ma solo un po’ più di piccola cura e che sia costante, tutto quanto sarebbe molto più bello, piacevole e funzionante; ma come quasi ovunque è come se a chi ci lavora non fregasse nulla..

tutto sommato, la disponibilità del personale e la posizione sono le note positive, per la stanza che si ottiene, che alla fine è accettabile, secondo me il prezzo dovrebbe essere abbassato.

Lo consiglio se non avete grandi pretese o standard (come noi).

Nothing is likeable in the property

La chambre la clim c’est basique mais pour un ou deux jours c’est correct.

The hotel is on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. You need to climb stairs.

We stayed in Colaba, Mumbai, and overall had a good experience, especially considering the general standards in the area. After reading many reviews before arriving, we noticed that most hotels seemed to have similar issues — mainly cleanliness and noise — so we came with realistic expectations.

The room was fairly clean, although it could definitely use a fresh coat of paint. That said, for the price, it was absolutely acceptable. What really made a difference was the staff: they were very kind and helpful from the start. We were welcomed with water upon arrival, which was a nice touch, and when we had an issue with the electrical outlet in our first room (it was actually smoking), they immediately moved us to another room without any hassle.

They provide towels and soap, and they were also very flexible in letting us leave our luggage there after check-out, which was really convenient.

The location is another big plus — it’s close to the main attractions in Colaba, making it easy to get around.

And a special mention: right downstairs there’s a lady selling absolutely delicious momos — definitely worth trying!

All in all, a solid option for Mumbai if you’re looking for something well-located and good value for money.
