Location was excellent/ hotel inside looked good well presented
Music on sat eve was poor told it was on until 11 30 but finished by 10
No aircon in bedroom/ very unpleasant night sleep/ fan was very poor you should invest in proper fans that cool the room
Moved the radio as it kept coming on dust on table under radio
It was central for a lot of places
Hotel room was so small .and no. Air conditioning .could not sleep so warm .breakfast was awful not cooked probably . We did complain never offered any discount on breakfast it was not cheap
Great location. Local market just outside on Friday and Monday mornings . Good range of local cafes for breakfast /lunch. Easy access to Cambridge. Easy parking in pay and display 3 mins away
Room clean but needs maintenance
Chose a regular double room as visiting friends during the day . Room needs upgrading . No drawers. Bedside light not working and not fixed despite telling reception . Damp mould on wall/ceiling in shower room. Grouting black and mould around shower fittings.
We asked for water in our bedroom . Glasses provided but no water . We were asked if we had a basic or superior room as only the superior gets free water!!! All hotels we have stayed in provide free room water. Is this good customer service?? It was also a sweltering weekend with temperatures at 36 degrees during the day and not much cooler at night. No air con but fine with the fan they provided and open window.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff
Hot day, staff provided fans but were very cheap so only blew hot air. Room needs a freshen up which isn’t a big deal but also mould in bathroom and shower tray overflows.
Someone had access to our room and came in while we were sleeping
Nice bar area, great location
Lack of air conditioning in bedrooms. We stayed during a heatwave so obviously this affected us more than it would have at another time. But the small fan provided in the room was totally inadequate. The heat in the room was unbearable so we left during the evening of our 2nd night. The restaurant was ok but the food wasn’t great quality.
Location was good.
Dreadful room: No window! Skylight only which had been left shut on a very hot day - it was like an oven. No indication when we booked that it was an internal room. Also they told us when we checked in that the kitchen was busy with a 50 seat booking and that we would need to eat out if we wanted to eat at a normal time. Our options were then limited as places were already booked. Why didn't they advise us of this before we arrived so we could book something ahead of time? Finally no one asked us how our stay was - we were relieved of our keys by the breakfast staff.
The hotel room was so small .and so warm no air condition gag could not sleep breakfast was awful was not cooked coffee was cold .would not stay there again
No air conditioning .and such small rooms
Traditional hotel tastefully modernised in the heart of a delightful small town.
Great breakfast.
Very clean rooms. Draught beer selection: Poor.
Feedback from my last stay: London Pride available but staff happy to serve pints when oxidation has occurred.☹️
Also, while you’re asking for feedback (which never see’s the light of day anyway) Shame!
Why is Brixton always out of stock?
Breakfast staff very good but please manage the bar, especially when Wetherspoons is not only 30 metres away. They can serve a pint properly. My advise to the GL is take pride in the bar. Manage it properly.
Parking outside this hotel for guest is confusing. Why? ‘Loading Only’. Perhaps HDC could help the Golden Lion?
Dynamic pricing makes it expensive when full
Hotel was clean tidy and very friendly staff
No lift in the hotel
Very warm welcome. Decent ale and a good menu. Lovely breakfast. Room was clean and the housekeeping left a written note welcoming me to the hotel. Nice touch.
The parking is Ok but, you have to keep an eye on the time. Parking in the square is fine from6pm but charge period starts at 7am
Loved the location, hotel was nice bar area good
The walls are paper thin, we could hear everything the next room where saying first night heard someone on the phone till 1.30am the 2nd night just people talking shouting until 2am so not the best night's sleep.
Im abit picking on cleanliness, little things like grout could just do with a good clean with toothbrush .
Tiny blood stain on bed cover!!!
The food is well over priced we only ate there the first night, I had the sea bass which was lovely but what came with it was just tiny pieces of veg probably no more than a table spoon, hassle back potato's had been microwaved.
My husband had the rib eye steak which I know is a fatty steak but only half of it was steak the rest fat, again not alot came with it.
We enjoyed the area alot great base.
clean , friendly lovle😄y hotel
perfect stay
