Ordered the baked cod and prawns, first impression was that they had given me a starter, but no , this was the main course.
The cod offered was not much more than the size of a tail, with two prawns. The vegetables served, were also minimal, which would also describe the taste.
Should you wish to change your vegetables for chips or other alternatives, there's a ADDITIONAL charge of €3, this is to change, not to have extra!
Staff were good, attentive.
But food was minimal, at €28 was poor value, left hungry.
This is a beautiful hotel with stunning sea views. Our room was very nice. The staff were all very friendly. Great location as it's only a short walk to the main street which has plenty bars etc. Breakfast was very nice and plenty of it ! Would love to return sometime and would highly recommend.

We recently celebrated a Christening in the Phoenix Lounge and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, everything was handled so smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious, with plenty of variety and beautifully presented – all of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed it. The staff were exceptional: friendly, attentive, and always on hand to help with anything we needed, which made the day feel relaxed and special. The setting itself is stunning, with a lovely atmosphere that made the occasion feel even more memorable. It was the perfect place to gather with family and friends. We’re so grateful to the team for making the day so special and would highly recommend the Waterfront for any celebration.

Excellent hotel. Staff were amazing. I would like in particular to mention two members of staff. The receptionist (blonde hair) very welcoming and accommodating. Also Justin, very good humoured, always had a smile on his face.

We were visiting family in Dungloe and they suggested our evening meal at the Waterfront Hotel. All four of us had beautiful food.
We had our wedding reception at the Waterfront in March 2026 and thought the experience right through from planning the event up until the day itself was exceptional. The staff in the Waterfront are warm, welcoming and professional and their support, advice and willingness to adapt to our wishes was very much appreciated. We had a large number of guests at our wedding and the Waterfront has a restaurant and lobby ideal for a large drinks reception with stunning views of the bay. The function room itself is spacious, well laid out and service at the meal was fast and efficient. The food here is always good, and on our wedding day it was no exception. The food options on the menu were varied and quality of food excellent. The bar staff are professional, observant and efficient and our guests were very happy with the experience. The rooms are modern, comfortable and clean. Overall, we are very happy we chose the Waterfront because it has everything- great location, lovely views, wonderful staff, great layout and a very competitive price package that gives great value for money.
