From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every member of the friendly, helpful staff made the stay feel effortless, creating a lovely atmosphere throughout the hotel.
Our room was well appointed, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with retro touches that gave it real character. Breakfast was a highlight: delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented, the perfect start to each day.
A wonderful stay from start to finish — highly recommended.
Great location within the pedestrian zone. Rooftop area offered a nice place to chill and take in the views. Drinks could be ordered up or else you can take your own up from your rooms mini bar which was included in price. The fridge has 2 beers plus 2 gin and tonics and were replenished daily. They even provide a jar of olives, sweets, nuts and a fresh lemon and lime to make a drink. The fridge also had ice for our drinks. The coffee machine ground its own beans. Not amazing coffee, but nice not having pods for a change. Breakfast was nicely served to order. Not amazing, but still very good and with decent coffee. But for best coffee go around the corner to Coto! Overall, very happy with our stay. Staff were great too.
I found the rooms too dark. Not all rooms will be like this but some have corridors. Beds had nice fresh linen but mattress felt cheap. They were also on the small side and with the windows open you couldn’t really get past the bed. But they were nicely decorated and the view into the courtyard was very nice.
What a lovely hotel, has a dark moody vibe which works in this intimate Gothic quarter hotel. We had a medium room which was perfect for two. Plenty of lovely freebies in the room lovely bed and shower. Best breakfast for a long time in a hotel, even better being looked after by the lovely Fernando who was a super star. Highly recommend.
Every aspect of our stay was 100% fantastic. The staff were lovely and super accommodating - arranging taxis, restaurant reservations, etc. The rooftop terrace was a highlight of our trip, the hot chocolate and breakfast were delicious, and the moody vibes were fantastic. We loved every minute of our stay!
Perfect and utterly stunning property in the beating heart of Barcelona. High-end value in every way, amazing staff, rooms, facilities. Delicious food and an insanely picturesque breakfast/cocktail space. 10 out of 10 will stay again!!
Nothing
We loved this hotel! Beautifully appointed rooms with lots of amenities and complimentary snack and beverage offerings. The bar and restaurant service was great and we loved the restaurant offerings. Housekeeping was excellent and very responsive. We appreciated the 5 star transportation that was arranged for us (pick up from the cruise port and transportation to the airport). The front desk was the friendliest and most helpful of any we have experienced in quite some time. The pre visit questionnaire was extremely helpful…what a great idea. Thanks to all for a memorable experience!
The Wittmore has wonderful staff who will accomodate your every need. Their breakfast is amazing (try the French toast!) . A free mini bar including all the makings of a refreshing G&T make up for the small room size. Location is excellent and walkable to nearly everything.
Lovely hotel with friendly front desk staff and attractive aesthetics. The hotel's entrance is down a short dead-end alleyway, which opens up into a small dark lobby that sets the tone for the rest of the hotel - dark painted wood, low lighting and lush curtains. This continues in the rooms, where the general sense is of being in a luxurious but dark cave, with windows that open up onto a light well courtyard. The limited lighting gives the rooms a comfortable feel, particularly for sleeping, but this is not a positive in the bathrooms, where the hotel should up the wattage quite a bit (and also install ventilation for the showers).
We stayed in two rooms - medium size room 204 for three nights and then large room 206 for four nights, both of which had essentially identical furniture, look and bathroom and thus the difference was really just a bit more size in the "large" room. As noted, the rooms were very dark (even with the window shutters open), though presumably rooms on the higher floors would have more natural light filter down the light well.
This is a boutique hotel in the eastern edges of the Gothic Quarter and so, depending upon where you wish to spend your time, it might be a great location or you might prefer to be further west and more centrally located amidst the various tourist sites to visit in Barcelona. While not a bad area by any means, this area is not upscale to say the least, with notably nicer neighborhoods being Born, further west in the Gothic Quarter and on/near Passeig de Gracia.
We did not eat at the hotel but the eating and public rooms in the hotel were very attractive, with the feel of a high-end home.
All together a very calming and pleasant hotel that would be an excellent choice unless you wished to be closer to the middle of the main tourist sites.
We had a wonderful four nights at the Wittmore. Everyone who works there is great but particular thanks to Fernando who was on breakfast duty every morning and was also whizzing around looking after everyone and with a smile on his face. The room was lovely with a great bathroom and powerful shower and the bed was huge and so comfortable. The food at breakfast was divine and room service was excellent. The bar area has a really nice vibe so we enjoyed a few cocktails and the roof terrace is a must! It might be a small hotel (which we love) but it has everything you need and we would highly recommend. The hotel was also spotlessly clean with all areas smelling gorgeous and the reception staff only too happy to help with taxis and recommendations. Thank you everyone at the Wittmore.
We booked the Wittmore as a last minute decision to visit Barcelona. It is based in the heart of the Gothic Quarter and has a lovely boutique feel with a small number of rooms giving a sense of tranquility. There is a fantastic roof top terrace with a pool and great views of the city. We stayed in a Wittmore Suite on the top floor which was very spacious and really well appointed. The staff were super friendly in helping us organise places to eat out and taxis when required. Breakfast was delicious but unfortunately we did not get the chance to try dinner. That will have to be for next time, as we will definitely be back.
The hotel is tucked away in the Gothic Quarter, meaning you are steps away from the historic streets and cathedral. It was such a cosy, welcoming hotel. There was real attention to detail and the staff could not have been kinder. Nothing was too much trouble. I would not hesitate to recommend it, from the fantastic shower, cosy bathrobe, gorgeous linens and the complimentary mini bar. And immaculately clean. It was luxury but with real character, due to the staff who really lifted it up a notch above other hotels in this class. Great young team. Top marks.
Perfect room. Perfect food. Perfect location.
A perfectly sublime experience! Service was outstanding. Food was out of this world and I cannot say enough good things about the bar and the bartenders.
I enjoyed my time at the hotel. Very convenient to tourist attractions, restaurants, and transit. They worked hard to make sure your needs are met. The decor feels gothic and moody - a perfect boutique hotel.
The property was beautiful and secluded.
Hard to get a cab to/from.
Breakfast was exceptional. Food was well prepared and delicious. Room was quiet and clean. The bar was stocked with some items to make a cocktail, which was really lovely after a day of walking! The rooftop lounge is a nice bonus.
Room was very dark, which was great for sleeping but not so great during the day. The hotel is actually in a great location, once you get past the little alley way that was a bit littered.
What an AMAZING Hotel! Excellent location and beautiful rooms. The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. The room was great with ample space and amenities! You cannot beat the location - steps away from everything in the Gothic Quarter! Highly Recommend!
The Wittmore is the kind of hotel that feels like a secret — and that’s exactly the point. Tucked down a narrow alley in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, it’s a two-minute cobblestone stroll from where your cab will drop you, which only adds to the sense of discovery on arrival.
Our room opened directly onto the courtyard and walled vertical garden — said to be the largest of its kind in Barcelona — and the Spring breeze drifting through the open window was simply lovely. The hotel leans fully into a romantic, moody aesthetic: low lighting, thoughtful design, and a welcome bottle of champagne waiting for us. The bathroom was a genuine highlight — large, clad in marble or granite, and stocked with spa-grade products.
As an adults-only property, the Wittmore cultivates a lively but refined social atmosphere. Resident DJs play Thursday through Saturday evenings in the lounge, and yes, the music does carry. But the program wraps up at a civilized 11:15 pm, so a good night’s sleep is very much on the cards.
Breakfast was outstanding — a generous fresh fruit bowl, a beautiful pastry basket, a choice of two hot main dishes, and a yogurt and granola that alone was worth coming down for. It’s the kind of breakfast that sets you up cheerfully for a full day of exploring.
For couples seeking atmosphere, character, and a deeply Barcelona experience, the Wittmore delivers beautifully. Just wear comfortable shoes for that cobblestone approach.
