Very nice hotell. Clean. Good food. Nice staff. Great location for us. We will visit Avena again :-)
Went on a 4 day break holiday with friends. Food is not too bad but there is nothing between 2pm -6.30pm, then nothing after 8pm for gluten free options. Bar shuts at 10.30pm on the night. Don't laugh in the lobby as they will tell you to be quiet anytime. by 10.30pm they close the bar and switch all the lights off. They even tell pensioners to go to bed. The only member of staff any fun was Asil always smiling very happy to get you drinks.
The rooms are not to bad, clean and well stocked, comfy beds, towels available.
The pool would Be good for the ice challenge. Baltic is an understatement. Sadly the fun police made the hotel the most miserable place I've ever stayed in. Was like being back at school, the constant telling off was a joke. Their attitude was rude for laughing, our neighbour was told off for having music at around 11pm it wasn't loud but they had 2 knocks on the door. The staff going round telling everyone off was horrendous and rude. I will never go back here again. Within seconds they are on your case for laughing they even offered to move us to another location to have fun. Honestly it was awful the staff at this hotel. Can't laugh or sing without being told off.
Just came back from an amazing holiday this hotel should be 5 star from its location everything on tap shops restaurants beach the hotel is beautiful spotlessly clean the staff extremely helpful friendly and always cleaning and working hard to accommodate the guests needs we were brought drinks to our sunloungers and the food was lovely very fresh and lots of variety highly recommend and we definitely being going back thank you for making our holiday the best
Stayed here for a whole week with my son for birthday celebrations honestly the most horrible hotel and staff you could imagine.drinks were watered down and the food ok on some nights.as we got to know other fellow Brits we all congregated on one of table only to be told the next day we was too loud and they’re goi my impose drinking bans how style never knows me thing like it were on out holidays ffs it’s a time to be happy and jolly it left a right bitter taste for us all the location of the hotel is quite near alanaya with is a plus point horns to Neil’s never return to this hotel and neither would the people we was there with the gym in the hotel is decent though and sauna is a nice place to chill out I would also say the staff and the worst I’ve experienced in turkey the only person was lovely was kristina the Russian on front of house.
So, you're looking for an all-inclusive holiday? Here's a few things you need to know.
* WIFI isn't free at this hotel. It's only free in the lobby. If you want to use it in your room, it's a charge *PER DEVICE*. That means most days it's just a bunch of desperate people staring wide-eyed in the lobby, wondering why they are here. Is the WIFI good? Sometimes. Sometimes it stops working. Sometimes it only works in part of the room.
* The spa isn't free. It claims it is, but you go down you're going to be bullied about getting some overpriced treatment package. Want to use the sauna? Only open two hours a day. The hammam? Only available if someone else isn't in there.
* No food and drink in the room. Instead you've got to go to the bar, but the bartender will only serve you once he's finished serving his friends. Do you want to close your door? Because there's a problem with that too, and it won't always lock. Do you want to use the safe in the room? Guess what! That's an extra charge, too.
* Want to use the gym? Better not use the rower, which is missing a foothold. Want to use the scales? LOL, no one has put batteries in there for weeks.
I booked a family room from February 13 to March 6 for three cyclists. Upon arrival, the internal regulations are clearly displayed at the reception area, including check-in and check-out times, meal hours, and the spa schedule (16:00–18:00).
Despite this, we have repeatedly been asked to leave the spa area during the officially stated opening hours. The explanations given were inconsistent, such as “other guests also want to use the sauna” or “it is reserved now, please come back at 17:00.”
When payment was taken, it was not communicated that sauna access would depend on the personal discretion or mood of the spa staff. The posted schedule indicates fixed operating hours, not conditional access.
As athletes, we rely on sauna sessions for recovery, and this situation has been both frustrating and disappointing.
I cannot recommend the spa service. This has been the worst spa experience I have had in Turkey, and this is my seventh stay in the country.
Had a four night stay here recently, the hotel is clean and staff polite. It has a nice large lobby which is nice to sit in especially in the cooler months when it’s not ideal to sit outside.
The room I had was a family room which would be perfect for a family of four (it was just myself and daughter) and it had a small balcony. There is a fridge in the room but they tell you you’re not allowed to take food or drink to your room (bit over the top). I had difficulty making the large shower head work but overall it has a large bathroom and also plenty of space for your things.
The buffet was boring and repetitive and can’t say I rated the food much. The bar served a variety of all inclusive cocktails which tasted all very similar and they had tuborg on tap. The wine was awful so I would avoid.
The pool was clean and my daughter managed to use it one day we were there.
The hotel is roughly ten mins in a car from Antalya and there is not a huge amount for you to do in the area. Having said that we’d gone out of season so expected things to be shut and quiet.
I was impressed with the spa and really enjoyed my massage, but make sure you tell the masseuse how you would prefer your massage as my friend said his was quite brutal!
Was majorly impressed with the chaps on the reception one day as I had left my phone in a taxi. I was able to locate my phone on my daughter’s iPad and it was fortunately at the Taxi rank. They were able to call the taxi man and good enough within an hour and a half. The taxi driver had brought my phone back appreciated the honesty and made sure he had a good tip as well as the Taxi fair.
Would’ve been nice to have some entertainment, even if it had just been a musician once or twice. Although it was out of season in the hotel lobby was packed and sometimes you struggle to get seats and had to sit in the little patisserie area.
The rooms walls are paper thin and you will hear people next door so bare that in mind when booking this hotel. Also one evening we had terribly heavy rain and I was woken up at four in the morning by the generator. It sounded like the country was being invaded, it was that loud, but this was because I believe they had a power cut.
On the first day we were put to a different hotel as the rooms weren’t ready or weren’t available. This made us really stressed as this shouldnt happen when you book. We were able to check in after 3pm the next day. Because of that we good room upgrade and free wifi. The food, rooms and everything else was fine. Location is good and i would happily come back
Im jist back from a weeks holiday at the Avena .
I cant thank the staff enough for what was a memorable christmas holiday .
Tje hotel wad immaculate due to the grest work by the cleaners
The food was amaxing a wonderful choice for all ages.
I travelled with 3 gemerwtions and we all loved our break .
The rooms were spacious and well equiped . .
The hotel is ideally placed minutes from the beach and lots of shops round about .
Its also right next door to a great sports bar. Ideal for 3 generations into there football.
The receptionist were so helpful especially gettimg grsndad who had passport issues from airport to the hotel . In luxury style with there own car.
The bar staff were also amazing
Providing table service whenever possible .
I cant wait to book into this hotel again
Best compliment came from my 14 year old was "how come the people here are all so nice .
Ps sorry for tsking tje baggage room key hope driver dropped it back.
Very disappointed with this hotel. The drinks tasted watered down & the food was the same thing every lunch & dinner. We stayed here in March & the food, drinks etc were so nice that’s why we booked again. Not sure why it has gone downhill like it has, it was quite busy so thought they would make more of an effort especially being so close to
Christmas
We returned following the birth of my granddaughter the year before in the hotel we spent near a month trying to get my daughter and granddaughter home as we were in aware of her been pregnant. The staff made us feel safe and helped in every way possible they went above and beyond to help in every way possible and I will always be grateful for their support. We returned this December as we class them as family and as always we were not disappointed the rooms were amazing the food was beautiful the staff are always smiling and go above and beyond. We will be returning with more family to the hotel. A speaclist shout out to all the managers entertainment staff cleaners bar staff and kitchen staff. It’s a must to try the hamma and sauna which is free. Plenty of trips at good prices too. Finally a massive thank you for having a party and helping celebrate as part of our family my granddaughters birthday 😊
4* Avena Resort and Spa in Alanya
Room 3504
This was a very bright spacious airy room containing a double and single bed. Slept comfortable without any noise issues. The balcony was very large with a table/chairs overlooking the mountains and local area, great for morning coffee as the sun rises.
Service
The customer service was impeccable. Staff always greeted you around the hotel. Reception was very helpful, spoke good English, had time to explain any information you required.
Food
A massive and BIG THANK YOU to Chef Huseyin, we've send a personal letter to the Hotel Manager as you made our holiday great.
Chef Huseyin's food were packed with flavour, well cooked marinated meat chunks and hefty portions too. I'm a foodie and it was the highlight of my stay.
The main buffet food had a variety of choices for salads, meats, breads, drinks desserts and more despite the Christmas season. The waiters worked incredibly hard making sure all the guests were happy. They were very quick to make sure tables were always cleaned and available for guests. They worked long hours but always had a warm smile on their faces.
Hotel Amenities
This was a relaxing holiday for us so we didn't use the Spa/Pool or Sauna. We were a bit disappointed that there was quite a high charge to use the internet in your hotel room, for 2 days it was 8 Euros, 1 week was 15 Euros and for 2 weeks it was 20 Euros but it was only free in the lobby area. There was also a 2 Euros per day charge to use the room safe that we've never experienced before. The Rep told us that this practice was becoming more common in Turkey, so people need to factor these extra costs if on a budget.
Our hotel room was very large, spacious but lacked cupboard space to hang clothes although the room was extremly clean. We also have a very big large balcony with a view of the local area with mountains in the backgrounds.
Local Area
The hotel is approx a 3 minute walk to bus stop, and costs 50 lira per ride (£1 UK) and the local town centre and Alanyium are quick and easy to get to. The local market was only about 10 minutes walking where you could find an array of fresh fruit & veg with plenty of clothes stalls around. Surprised how large some of the produce were such as mushrooms, cabbages, tomatoes, artichokes and various others. Prices were a lot cheaper than London and you got much more for your money. I couldn't resist a freshly made Gosleme whilst walking around. Outside the hotel there are many clothes shops and food restaurants around and the beach is 3 minutes away so you can sunbathe until your hearts content.
December was a great off season time to travel for us, weather was quite warm although many Turks had heavy jackets whilst we were in T-shirts. Easy to move around as streets not packed with people or traffic. I will definitely recommend this hotel and will go back one day.
This was my first visit to Turkey and what a lovely first visit it was!
Check in was efficient and friendly.
It was our 25th wedding anniversary and when we got to our room we had a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket.
The room was lovely and spacious, very clean and a good spot over looking the pool.
We saw cleaners daily who were very friendly and always helpful.
Free WiFi can be used in the lobby/bar area and at the beach bar. This was actually a good thing because we spent a lot less time on our phones and actually enjoyed our surroundings. You can purchase wifi in your rooms for a fee.
Free beach towels are available too which is a great idea.
The beach bar isn't included in the all inclusive from 1st November to March but the prices aren't bad anyway. There's use of the sunbeds free.
The beach is literally a 5 minute walk away from the hotel which is ideal for beach lovers like me!
Food was always hot and a decent selection. The flatbreads and fresh bread were unbelievable! The nicest I've had! The dining room staff were all very pleasant and efficient at clearing plates away.
The bar includes cocktails within the all inclusive which was great for me! (Shoutout to Mevlüt for the great selection of surprise cocktails!)
Taxis in to the town centre were only about 300tl (about a fiver) and was definitely worth it. The harbour area's lovely.
We had a brilliant holiday here and would definitely recommend it. I thought the location was a bit quiet upon arriving but it's not, there's plenty of local businesses to try. Can highly recommend Salt &Pepper for a lovely meal, we went for our anniversary (around 5 minute walk away) Lovely atmosphere and staff, reasonably priced too.
Also Hane Döner where we had a chicken kebab and complimentary Turkish tea! Only 180tl (less than 3 quid) very friendly welcoming staff there too.
The market is practically over the road too on a Monday, highly recommend for a bargain or two!
The locals were friendly too and we felt very safe here. We look forward to returning!
I went with family as I returned for my daughters first birthday after giving birth to her out here last year, the staff have been amazing from then to now, constantly checking on her and ensuring we were made to feel welcomed, the hotel is always kept clean, and the food has a little bit of something for everyone, I cannot fault my stay here and cannot wait to return ❤️
Rooms are presented well, the soundproofing… or lack of is the major disadvantage! The food WILL give you food poisoning and it is a disgraceful lack of understanding of how to thoroughly cook meat. Everyone in our party has become unwell. Staff treat you as an inconvenience if you request milk for a baby and don’t bother to acknowledge you at best. Some staff are kind and play with the children but the minority of reception/patisserie/ bar/ restaurant let this down (at least one has a terrible attitude in each area)
The service and the cleanliness was very top quality and the service by tamer checking in and checking out was very smooth and allowed our stay to heeasuer and stress free
I have to say, despite knowing it was quiet season upon booking, I felt a bit let down by the hotel, I know it was obviously November so some things weren’t on etc, but basic things like a pool heater wouldn’t go a miss. We were coming from the UK and were really looking forward to swimming. We didn’t get to all week due to the pool being cold. We found substantial dust in our room on the paintings which set off my dust allergy. We had a noise disturbance on one of our last nights when we needed to sleep, I went and told reception and they sent security up and did sort it out. As many people seem to be saying I would seriously suggest reassessing the WiFi situation. I think you should be either doing free WiFi throughout or just a flat charge per room, not per device. I’ve never had to pay that much per device anywhere. The food was okay but we were eating the same things each day. I loved the patisserie. I think that was my favourite thing about the hotel, i used it every day! Staff were friendly and nice of course, just felt a bit let down with the pool situation. We were also told by the British rep service that we could get a free taxi to and from alanya centre “for shopping” but he failed to tell us we would be forcefully made to go into a specific man’s shop who was very pushy and aggressive when we explained to him that we weren’t told we had to go to just the one shop. He was really nasty and angry when we told him we wanted to leave. It wasn’t made clear to us. We just thought it was a taxi to the centre to look around. Not sure if the BRS is anything to do with the hotel but since that’s where he met and spoke to us, we assumed so. When we returned to the hotel and tried to explain what happened to the receptionist, he seemed to find it funny. There were to female people in our group who were very intimidated by the group of men who were urging us to go into the shop.
The hotel is not a .4star rooms ok cleaner never came from Thursday till Sunday then I had to tell them the hairdryer worked for a min cut out then had to leave for 5mins then cut out again ..food average not 4star in my opinion.no entertainment no music like a morgue.in the hotel .not what it discribes..
This was just a week away to have some winter sun and for what we paid the hotel was love and the staff even better nothing was too much trouble for them
The food was always hot and freshly cooked and the cleaning staff were incredible, the whole hotel was stopless outside and inside
My only criticism would be that being a 4 star hotel the internet was only complementary in the lobby and payable everywhere else
Sadly there were very few positives. This is not a 4 star hotel, it’s a very mediocre 3 star. The photos of the rooms on their website are totally misleading. Our room was in C block (I think the C stands for cell) which is not in the main part of the hotel (it also doesn’t appear anywhere on the website). The room was cramped, the fixtures and fittings were cheap and nasty. The bed was rock hard and the bed linen was of very poor quality, and the pillows were tiny and flat. The walls were paper thin, so much so we could hear the very loud snoring of a man in a neighbouring room which kept us awake.
Speaking to Reception was pointless, their attitude arrogant and dismissive.
And for a supposed 4 star I would expect WiFi to be included but to have that service you had to pay €15 PER DEVICE extra for the week. Free WiFi was only available in the lobby. Security also came at an additional price with additional costs incurred for use of the in-room safe.
Positives were the hotel was very clean, the food was ok and the location good. We could also always get a sunbed by the pool. The room aircon, once you got used to it’s quirky nature, worked well.
Sadly I feel cheated by the experience at this hotel. To be so misled by the advertising of the rooms must be bordering on the illegal. I could continue about the problems we encountered but I think there’s enough here to be angry about.
Think very carefully before choosing this hotel.
