Im jist back from a weeks holiday at the Avena .
I cant thank the staff enough for what was a memorable christmas holiday .
Tje hotel wad immaculate due to the grest work by the cleaners
The food was amaxing a wonderful choice for all ages.
I travelled with 3 gemerwtions and we all loved our break .
The rooms were spacious and well equiped . .
The hotel is ideally placed minutes from the beach and lots of shops round about .
Its also right next door to a great sports bar. Ideal for 3 generations into there football.
The receptionist were so helpful especially gettimg grsndad who had passport issues from airport to the hotel . In luxury style with there own car.
The bar staff were also amazing
Providing table service whenever possible .
I cant wait to book into this hotel again
Best compliment came from my 14 year old was "how come the people here are all so nice .
Ps sorry for tsking tje baggage room key hope driver dropped it back.
Very disappointed with this hotel. The drinks tasted watered down & the food was the same thing every lunch & dinner. We stayed here in March & the food, drinks etc were so nice that’s why we booked again. Not sure why it has gone downhill like it has, it was quite busy so thought they would make more of an effort especially being so close to
Christmas
We returned following the birth of my granddaughter the year before in the hotel we spent near a month trying to get my daughter and granddaughter home as we were in aware of her been pregnant. The staff made us feel safe and helped in every way possible they went above and beyond to help in every way possible and I will always be grateful for their support. We returned this December as we class them as family and as always we were not disappointed the rooms were amazing the food was beautiful the staff are always smiling and go above and beyond. We will be returning with more family to the hotel. A speaclist shout out to all the managers entertainment staff cleaners bar staff and kitchen staff. It’s a must to try the hamma and sauna which is free. Plenty of trips at good prices too. Finally a massive thank you for having a party and helping celebrate as part of our family my granddaughters birthday 😊
4* Avena Resort and Spa in Alanya
Room 3504
This was a very bright spacious airy room containing a double and single bed. Slept comfortable without any noise issues. The balcony was very large with a table/chairs overlooking the mountains and local area, great for morning coffee as the sun rises.
Service
The customer service was impeccable. Staff always greeted you around the hotel. Reception was very helpful, spoke good English, had time to explain any information you required.
Food
A massive and BIG THANK YOU to Chef Huseyin, we've send a personal letter to the Hotel Manager as you made our holiday great.
Chef Huseyin's food were packed with flavour, well cooked marinated meat chunks and hefty portions too. I'm a foodie and it was the highlight of my stay.
The main buffet food had a variety of choices for salads, meats, breads, drinks desserts and more despite the Christmas season. The waiters worked incredibly hard making sure all the guests were happy. They were very quick to make sure tables were always cleaned and available for guests. They worked long hours but always had a warm smile on their faces.
Hotel Amenities
This was a relaxing holiday for us so we didn't use the Spa/Pool or Sauna. We were a bit disappointed that there was quite a high charge to use the internet in your hotel room, for 2 days it was 8 Euros, 1 week was 15 Euros and for 2 weeks it was 20 Euros but it was only free in the lobby area. There was also a 2 Euros per day charge to use the room safe that we've never experienced before. The Rep told us that this practice was becoming more common in Turkey, so people need to factor these extra costs if on a budget.
Our hotel room was very large, spacious but lacked cupboard space to hang clothes although the room was extremly clean. We also have a very big large balcony with a view of the local area with mountains in the backgrounds.
Local Area
The hotel is approx a 3 minute walk to bus stop, and costs 50 lira per ride (£1 UK) and the local town centre and Alanyium are quick and easy to get to. The local market was only about 10 minutes walking where you could find an array of fresh fruit & veg with plenty of clothes stalls around. Surprised how large some of the produce were such as mushrooms, cabbages, tomatoes, artichokes and various others. Prices were a lot cheaper than London and you got much more for your money. I couldn't resist a freshly made Gosleme whilst walking around. Outside the hotel there are many clothes shops and food restaurants around and the beach is 3 minutes away so you can sunbathe until your hearts content.
December was a great off season time to travel for us, weather was quite warm although many Turks had heavy jackets whilst we were in T-shirts. Easy to move around as streets not packed with people or traffic. I will definitely recommend this hotel and will go back one day.
This was my first visit to Turkey and what a lovely first visit it was!
Check in was efficient and friendly.
It was our 25th wedding anniversary and when we got to our room we had a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket.
The room was lovely and spacious, very clean and a good spot over looking the pool.
We saw cleaners daily who were very friendly and always helpful.
Free WiFi can be used in the lobby/bar area and at the beach bar. This was actually a good thing because we spent a lot less time on our phones and actually enjoyed our surroundings. You can purchase wifi in your rooms for a fee.
Free beach towels are available too which is a great idea.
The beach bar isn't included in the all inclusive from 1st November to March but the prices aren't bad anyway. There's use of the sunbeds free.
The beach is literally a 5 minute walk away from the hotel which is ideal for beach lovers like me!
Food was always hot and a decent selection. The flatbreads and fresh bread were unbelievable! The nicest I've had! The dining room staff were all very pleasant and efficient at clearing plates away.
The bar includes cocktails within the all inclusive which was great for me! (Shoutout to Mevlüt for the great selection of surprise cocktails!)
Taxis in to the town centre were only about 300tl (about a fiver) and was definitely worth it. The harbour area's lovely.
We had a brilliant holiday here and would definitely recommend it. I thought the location was a bit quiet upon arriving but it's not, there's plenty of local businesses to try. Can highly recommend Salt &Pepper for a lovely meal, we went for our anniversary (around 5 minute walk away) Lovely atmosphere and staff, reasonably priced too.
Also Hane Döner where we had a chicken kebab and complimentary Turkish tea! Only 180tl (less than 3 quid) very friendly welcoming staff there too.
The market is practically over the road too on a Monday, highly recommend for a bargain or two!
The locals were friendly too and we felt very safe here. We look forward to returning!
I went with family as I returned for my daughters first birthday after giving birth to her out here last year, the staff have been amazing from then to now, constantly checking on her and ensuring we were made to feel welcomed, the hotel is always kept clean, and the food has a little bit of something for everyone, I cannot fault my stay here and cannot wait to return ❤️
Rooms are presented well, the soundproofing… or lack of is the major disadvantage! The food WILL give you food poisoning and it is a disgraceful lack of understanding of how to thoroughly cook meat. Everyone in our party has become unwell. Staff treat you as an inconvenience if you request milk for a baby and don’t bother to acknowledge you at best. Some staff are kind and play with the children but the minority of reception/patisserie/ bar/ restaurant let this down (at least one has a terrible attitude in each area)
The service and the cleanliness was very top quality and the service by tamer checking in and checking out was very smooth and allowed our stay to heeasuer and stress free
I have to say, despite knowing it was quiet season upon booking, I felt a bit let down by the hotel, I know it was obviously November so some things weren’t on etc, but basic things like a pool heater wouldn’t go a miss. We were coming from the UK and were really looking forward to swimming. We didn’t get to all week due to the pool being cold. We found substantial dust in our room on the paintings which set off my dust allergy. We had a noise disturbance on one of our last nights when we needed to sleep, I went and told reception and they sent security up and did sort it out. As many people seem to be saying I would seriously suggest reassessing the WiFi situation. I think you should be either doing free WiFi throughout or just a flat charge per room, not per device. I’ve never had to pay that much per device anywhere. The food was okay but we were eating the same things each day. I loved the patisserie. I think that was my favourite thing about the hotel, i used it every day! Staff were friendly and nice of course, just felt a bit let down with the pool situation. We were also told by the British rep service that we could get a free taxi to and from alanya centre “for shopping” but he failed to tell us we would be forcefully made to go into a specific man’s shop who was very pushy and aggressive when we explained to him that we weren’t told we had to go to just the one shop. He was really nasty and angry when we told him we wanted to leave. It wasn’t made clear to us. We just thought it was a taxi to the centre to look around. Not sure if the BRS is anything to do with the hotel but since that’s where he met and spoke to us, we assumed so. When we returned to the hotel and tried to explain what happened to the receptionist, he seemed to find it funny. There were to female people in our group who were very intimidated by the group of men who were urging us to go into the shop.
The hotel is not a .4star rooms ok cleaner never came from Thursday till Sunday then I had to tell them the hairdryer worked for a min cut out then had to leave for 5mins then cut out again ..food average not 4star in my opinion.no entertainment no music like a morgue.in the hotel .not what it discribes..
This was just a week away to have some winter sun and for what we paid the hotel was love and the staff even better nothing was too much trouble for them
The food was always hot and freshly cooked and the cleaning staff were incredible, the whole hotel was stopless outside and inside
My only criticism would be that being a 4 star hotel the internet was only complementary in the lobby and payable everywhere else
Sadly there were very few positives. This is not a 4 star hotel, it’s a very mediocre 3 star. The photos of the rooms on their website are totally misleading. Our room was in C block (I think the C stands for cell) which is not in the main part of the hotel (it also doesn’t appear anywhere on the website). The room was cramped, the fixtures and fittings were cheap and nasty. The bed was rock hard and the bed linen was of very poor quality, and the pillows were tiny and flat. The walls were paper thin, so much so we could hear the very loud snoring of a man in a neighbouring room which kept us awake.
Speaking to Reception was pointless, their attitude arrogant and dismissive.
And for a supposed 4 star I would expect WiFi to be included but to have that service you had to pay €15 PER DEVICE extra for the week. Free WiFi was only available in the lobby. Security also came at an additional price with additional costs incurred for use of the in-room safe.
Positives were the hotel was very clean, the food was ok and the location good. We could also always get a sunbed by the pool. The room aircon, once you got used to it’s quirky nature, worked well.
Sadly I feel cheated by the experience at this hotel. To be so misled by the advertising of the rooms must be bordering on the illegal. I could continue about the problems we encountered but I think there’s enough here to be angry about.
Think very carefully before choosing this hotel.
We had a lovely stay at the Avena Hotel! The room was nice, and the housekeeping kept it very clean.
The rest of the hotel and the stay is well organized, clean and service was quick. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The pool is nice and the food is what you expect from it. The entertainment in the evening was a lot of fun, we had some great nights.
All in all we highly recommend Avena for a relaxing holiday, we would definitely consider coming back some other year!
Thank you Papel and Lorena ♥️😘😘😘
The Avena Resort and Spa claims to be “Refined tranquility by the Mediterranean” but this was not what me and my friend experienced…. Me and my friend experienced constant and strange harassment from the hotel entertainment/staff and just noticed very unprofessional staff behind the pool bar who spent large periods of the time messing around (can’t fault the females behind the pool bar they were very professional and good.) Our best day was went we went to the private beach away from the hotel and to the spa which we can’t fault but overall I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel.
Travelled alone for 9 nights at the avena resort and Spa hotel.
Staff were very helpful and friendly
The room was a decent size and very nice and clean. Maid came every day. Continuous free bottled water in the fridge. ( safe cost £14 extra for 9 nights)
I got free Wi-Fi as I travelled with jet2.
The hotel itself is very nice and very very clean. Once I saw a girl drop a straw and a member of staff walked past it and the manager called them back to pick it up that’s how clean it is.
When your glass was empty the guys who continuously collected glasses would take it sometimes they would ask if you want another and bring you one.
Pool was good very cold tho.
Sun beds , plenty of them I never struggled to get one but there was only me Usual thing towels on beds at 7 am
What was annoying was that people put towels on sun beds and never used them until later in the afternoon which wasn’t fair but that’s not the hotels fault.
Entertainment was good, kids disco started at 9pm then the entertainment. But it usually finished at 10.15-10.30 but was good.
Food. Food was good. What you have to remember is that your in Turkey not England but there’s a large selection and if you can’t find anything that you like out of all the trays of food then your too fussy ha ha.
Breakfast was a bit repetitive but ok
There’s a sandwich toaster to make toasties. The soups on the evening were lovely and you can go for soup 11-12pm on an evening.
There’s a bar in the restaurant too.
10 min walk to the beach bar. Soft drinks only, alcohol you have to purchase.
Overall I had a great holiday and I do recommend it.
We arrived here late at night and was helped to our room which was nice,
The hotel is very clean from corner to corner, this we cannot fault( rooms can be cleaned everyday also)
Food… well this is a different story, people say there is something for everyone, this is not the case, it was very repetitive and most of the time cold ( beach bar is the worst) I suffered with sickness and diarrhoea on the 4th day of holiday( quite a few people here did) so we decided to eat out for the duration of the holiday
Staff…some gave a smile but 75% of them were so miserable especially the young girl serving ice cream in the afternoons, it’s like we were all a inconvenience,
Would we come back ? No
⭐ 3.5 stars
Stayed at Avena on 19/10/2025. Decent budget stay — rooms and gym are good, and entertainment was fun (especially the African acrobatics). The food really lets it down though — poor quality, no proper meals, and ice cream only served 4–5pm. Pool is freezing, but the beach is just a 5-minute walk away. Staff are mixed, Wi-Fi costs extra. Fine if you want a cheap break and aren’t fussy about food.
Hotel very clean and rooms were fine. Impossible to get a sun bed unless up by 7 to put a towel down, even though this is not allowed. Entertainment was poor although the lady was lovely. Not much kids options to eat. We were all vomiting on the last day. We only had food and drink in the hotel. Was told by 3 other families that they had been sick. Hotel staff the most unfriendly/unwelcoming staff Iv ever experienced. Turkish bath was amazing. Snack bar food at beach was beyond basic and all food was either cold or warm. Plenty of food but not much meat or fish options.
Sängyt olivat erittäin huonot. Ruoka ei kovin hyvää, vatsa meni sekaisin, vaikka käytti maitohappobakteereita eikä ottanut jäitä juomaan. Uima-allas alue ja henkilökunta olivat mukavia.
The transfer was long, but we were given a leg stretch/break half way at a small cafe. We traveled with ‘sun express’ whose app was a bit glitchy but they were on time.
On arrival at hotel avena, we were given a twin room on arrival facing the road. Reception did not give us any problem when we asked to change this for a double. We were given a lovely double room on the top floor with a big balcony overlooking the pool. The mattress was hard, but comfortable. The rooms were cleaned and turned around daily if you wanted…plenty of clean towels etc. we found there was enough storage, clothes wise, for us both. The air con seemed a bit temperamental at first, but we got the knack after a while. Tv …had limited English type channels but that didn’t faze us as we didn’t really use tv.
The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. Plenty of staff working very hard all day long. All staff were super friendly without being false. All staff seemed content to work here.
The sun lounge deck area around the pool, has the usual ‘sun bed wars’. Towels over sun beds at ridiculous hours of the morning. Everything is cleaned top to bottom around the pool area non stop.
The local tattoo shop did send a staff member to tout business around the pool. He was not intrusive, he was informative and friendly. Not a pest at all and we bumped into him a few times on our strolls and enjoyed a chat.
We went to the beach most mornings, which is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Be careful crossing the main road, they take no notice of zebra crossings. ‘Beach hut 33’ is the hotels designated beach hut. There is a lovely bar to sit and eat/drink. Soft drinks and snacks/food are free here but you have to pay for alcohol. Roughly £3 for a big bottle of Efes beer. The sun loungers have a nice padding on them and parasols/tables etc. the beach is also clean and well maintained. As mentioned the road can be difficult to cross, but we found an underpass direct from the beach hut, which was safer. We were not hassled by any peddlers on the beach. The waves can be strong at times and although the immediate sand is beautiful and soft, we found larger rocks within the surf as you enter the sea. There was a lifeguard there. We saw dolphins in the distance one day.
We would go to the beach in the mornings and return to the hotel mid afternoon. We never failed to get sunbeds on the upper terrace which is 16+ area and had the sun on it til very late.
There are well maintained toilets and showers around the pool area and the bigger slides were fun. There is a small section of pool with a railed/type fence around for small children with 2 slides too of their own. The pool was cool, the sea was warmer.
The food:- never went hungry. We found the restaurant busy at times, could be noisy, and we saw other guests trying to find a table at times. Don’t expect to be able to have a conversation across the table at busy times, over the noise of plates banging and scraping, other people talking loud, to combat that noise, and kids obsessed with loud iPads to entertain them during meals. Other times we had random guests ask to sit next to us on our table. (Not sure how they cope in peak season) . The food was hot, plentiful and displayed beautifully. Lots of attention to detail. We were not disappointed with any of the food. lots to try and many choices. There was a section of counter labelled ‘diet’ which had less saucy food, and various other healthy options. Between the restaurant and the snack bar at the beach, and the snack bar at the pool, we grazed lots. Our favourite was the ‘late soup’.
The choice of inclusive cocktails didn’t really do it for me. Also no slushy type drinks for those who like them. We mainly drank beer, or a refreshing shandy when it was hot. You could buy top shelf better liquor at the bar if you wanted to. Local bars did excellent cocktails and reasonably priced.
The hotel was modern, pretty, lovely murals on walls. Little trees dotted around with twinkly lights at night. The hotel is very pleasing on the eye.
We bought a spa package the ‘sultan’ which was absolutely lovely. The ladies who gave the massage to us in a joint room, really put effort in. There are various packages of spa treatment. We spent nearly 2 hours in treatment for 50euros each. I would absolutely recommend a spa treatment while here.
We also made use of the sauna and Turkish hot room one afternoon. This is included in the hotel package for free and was very relaxing. You get fresh blue clean towels here as well, at the spa reception for the sunbeds.
We saw the gym, it looked like it had brand new equipment, well spaced, and air con and changing area.
There was an entertainment programme loosely put together. No real idea of what it is until late on in the day or by random. We played in a darts game one afternoon organised by the events staff. We saw a Turkish dancer one evening, and we missed African acrobats one night as we went out for my husband’s birthday that night. The bingo in the evening was dire and boring. There was a quiz night we missed on purpose, and we witnessed karaoke in the evening which was quite an amusing experience. There were certainly not enough tables and chairs to cater for all guests when the entertainment was on and it was worth seeing. We had to sit on sun loungers one night to view the ‘Turkish dancer’ .
Unfortunately it rained on the last 2 days of our holiday. No entertainment of an evening due to rain as the entertainment stage was outside.
The lobby was full of guests all sat round on phones like zombies, bored.
We found the local shops and traders to all be friendly and polite. They expect you to barter. If you are after designer knock off handbags/clothes/trainers then you have so much choice here. If you go and just look, and don’t buy, the shop owners are still polite and don’t give you abuse when you walk away. There were no ‘Irish pubs’ or typical ‘Brit’ bars. We saw no dramas, and no stag do’s hen do’s etc. Some bars had big screen tv sports on and/or live music.
We paid for an alanya city tour via the hotel rep. The tour was really good, but we found out later from other outside tourist places that we’d paid too much for this. We also went on a quad bike safari bought and arranged by a tourist info in the street. This was brilliant.
There are no flies, gnats, cockroaches, wasps, rodents etc to spoil your trip here. There are however… lots of cats. Not one stray dog seen. But cats are welcomed here, they’re well looked after and clean, fed, and friendly. Most shops or bars and the avena have their regular cats. if you are allergic it could be a problem. the hotel cats help themselves to your sunbed in the sun if you aren’t around. We saw some guests encouraging the cats into the restaurant by feeding them by hand under the table. The staff frowned on this and they actually put food outside for the hotel cats. Overall we would highly recommend the Avena Spa Hotel and we would love to come back.
