Beautiful location - secluded and quiet. It felt very authentic. The cottage was beautiful
When we stayed none of the facilities were open which was disappointing
Very dissapointing stay here on Monday August 3rd. It was my partner and I 'S anniversary and we were both really looking forward to staying here and enjoying the property. I received a phone call at 1pm that day (check in at 4pm) to be told THE ENTIRE HOTEL WOULD BE CLOSED and because we were staying in a cottage we would need codes to let ourselves in and out because there would be NO STAFF.
Myself and my partner were looking forward to using all of the hotel amenities and would not of booked had we known that the entire property would be empty. It really put a negative spin on our anniversary and truthfully being on large grounds that are quite remote, no staff, closed and nobody around is quite creepy. I have emailed the property about this and have been ignored
Staying at a property that was closed for the evening with no staff
Full of character and charm, around every corner a delight for the senses. Our room in one of the guest cottages was big & spacious , comfortable bed , high ceilings & marble fireplace. The room had a Jane Austen elegance. The bathroom had both a shower & claw-foot bath tub. Gorgeous smelling bath & shower products from their spa. With views out of the sash windows of a beautiful courtyard garden blooming with climbing roses, clematis & hydrangeas greeting you at eye level. Winding paths led to the relaxing thermal village shaded by trees offering natural beauty & privacy. The Shackleton Mill restaurant overlooked the mill waterfall with a high cathedral ceiling feels stylish and inviting. Good food & breakfast was delicious. And an excellent on site coffee shop. All the staff were welcoming engaging & friendly.
A minor thing - no USB sockets in the room & TV was dated.
The restaurant was wonderful and location amazing. Gardens kept very well
Nothing
Beautiful property in a lovely area.
I would have loved to see the poly tunnels, orchards and fruit gardens being looked after. It was a shame to see them falling into dis-use.
Although breakfast and dinner were superb, lunch was limited to sandwiches from the cafe. However, plenty of gastropubs nearby.
Peaceful, pretty
Reception staff little interest , no support finding room only map, our room name was not on the outside of house
Beautiful restored property not far from Dublin centre in perfect surroundings
Nothing to dislike
Beautiful cottage - the thermal village was a bit
Just a pity we didn’t have longer to stay there
The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous served in the orangery. The breakfast team were so pleasant. It was a “Big Birthday “ occasion and the two night stay at “Poet’s Corner “ with a wonderful meal at the restaurant one night made the weekend very special.. thank you.
We loved it all and there wasn’t anything that we didn’t like .
