Hotel Puntarenas Beach

Everything was perfecto!

Can tolerate cheap toilet paper & bath mirror for midgets. No hot water or shower. Cold eggs for breakfast. Only good was sound of ocean to fall asleep. Worst value hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

They don’t have showers in their rooms. My husband didn’t like the tub so they put us in a room that was basically a large closet with no windows. Supposedly that was the only room available with a shower that worked. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room either along with NO hot water for that shower. They eventually moved us back to a larger room with a shower and working Wi-Fi. Honestly, you can skip the whole Puntarenas peninsula. The beaches and roads were filthy!

The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The building is older, and maintenance has not been kept up. I got approached by a man drinking a beer, and begging for money, as soon as I walked out the hotel door. There is a police station, at the other end of the block. It was in a dirty area of town. The beach was across the street, but I wouldn’t recommend going there after dark. The free breakfast was delicious.

This was most interesting stay on my Costa Rica vacation, a somewhat quirky but comfortable beach hotel. My room was clean, spacious, the AC was working well, and the poolside room helped make it pretty quiet (a beach bar was across the street playing music). The bathroom had a jacuzzi style tub with a hand shower, no standup shower which I much prefer. There is no light or switch by the bed, so my cellphone served as a temporary nightlight. The parking garage below the hotel would have been convenient, but when I drove down there another guest was parked in two spots (not the fault of the hotel) and I was forced to back out. When I went to reception to inform them, they did have a backup parking lot across the street, basically an empty construction lot but locked behind a secured fence…less convenient than the underground lot, but secure which was important. I received immediate assistance from reception staff to escort me to the parking lot to open the gate, both in the evening and at checkout, so no time was lost. The morning breakfast buffet was wonderful with views of the beach across the street. The staff was great and I enjoyed my brief stay in Puntarenas.

Hatten das Hotel für 2 Nächte gebucht und sind nach einer Nacht abgereist. Es hat wenig mit dem zu tun, was man im Portal sieht. Geschmacklos eingerichtet und in die Jahre gekommen. Personal an der Lobby war sehr nett. Können auch nichts für den Zustand. Man hat das Gefühl, dass Hotel ist in den 80ern stehen geblieben. Ich weiß nicht was schlimmer war, die orangene Plastikwand hinterm Bett oder die chinesischen Plastikornamente in der Decke über dem Bett. Das Frühstück war unterdurchschnittlich. On top war das Casino im 1. Stock. Alles in allem keine 4 Sterne, max 1-2 und das für 100 € die Nacht. Puntaresa ist an sich schon gruselig.

Very nice and cool old hotel. Great view from balconies of ocean, nice clean pool and rec. area. Friendly informative staff. Very good breakfast. Very nice walk in front to nice restaurants. large room, had a room with no windows and it was still OK. Would advise trying to get a room facing the ocean if you are spending time in the room.

Excelente ubicación, me encantó.

I would never stay at this hotel again. Poor room, no coffee machine, no safer. You have to hold the shower to take showers. Very few guests, probably only us stayed there although many rooms.

The stuff at the fromt desk they were very friendly and ready to help. Unfortunately the place luck off cleanliness and good service in the ding aspect is realy bad. We had very old bedding that keep coming off the matress no conforter on the beds and thet offer us this very old ugly I that was not going to use those comforters
One of the day rain a lot we stay in we whent to the restaurant for diner we had worse experience with the food cook gave us row frozen stakes it was disgusting. I dont think i will stay at this place ever because it was not cheap

Hotel is right across the street from the beach. Staff was very friendly and accommodations clean. Balcony view was perfect. Highly recommend.

Overall our stay went well, but our check-in was a mess. This reservation was prepaid (like dozens of others we’ve made with Expedia). For some reason the front desk agent gave us the hotel’s Expedia receipt he had created which showed the room a total of $63 USD cheaper. We should NEVER have been provided that information. It took some translation to figure out what he was trying to show us. Why, we’ll never know. The pool was great, the included breakfast in the open air sidewalk restaurant was fantastic and the views for sunset from the 4th floor balcony were outstanding.
