Our host at the bar and lady at reception were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Decor dated and plain no personality, even though the building has huge potential.
Well.. Amazing Staff!! Made to feel very comfortable indeed..
Prices of the drink!! Changed with every person...
Nice surroundings
Just felt a little dated. The bed was really hard. No hot water in the shower
Only stayed 1 night but loved every minute. Set on beautiful well kept grounds. Room was huge. Loads of space for 3 of us. Beds are super comfy, room was spotless and the shower is what you call a power shower. Most places I've stayed the showers not great but this one was amazing. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again.
Only negative is the lack of plug sockets in the room. Would be ideal if there were some by the beds.
Quiet location (except for the seagull - it is the seaside after all!) in Falmouth but very easy to access the town and beach. The Welcome and service from Will was exceptional, everything from check-in to bar-service to waiting tables at both breakfast and dinner - Will was there! I'm not sure if he runs the place single handed or is a triplet? A real gent with a friendly word for everyone whether he's just arrived or finishing a 10+ hour shift. Food is exceptional and very reasonably priced and whilst some of the hotel is a bit dated, it's clean, comfortable and the bedrooms are spacious and well equipped. We will visit again.
Very friendly accommodating staff
Bed not too comfortable
Lovely 2 night stay, all the family enjoyed it including the pool and spa facilities. We will definitely be back
Na
Very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble
Bathroom water pressure.
The staff were very helpful and very knowledgeable. Super friendly and made our stay special.
Could do with improvements in places as quite old and outdated.
The evening bar staff (one person) was amazing. My remote wouldn't work so he got new batteries. I asked if they did room service and he brought my bar meal to my room, all whilst running the bar alone. I'm sorry, I don't know his name but he's a credit to your team
The lack of 24hr reception. The lack of swimwear for sale for guests who forgot their swim wear and it's time to upgrade the room TV's!
The waiting on staff were excellent, very cheery and helpful
Nothing
The Sauna and wirlpool
The Restaurant
Loved the restaurant and bar area.
Gym and pool
Maybe a little TLC but I can't recommend this place enough
Friendly helpful staff, good room sizes and clean. Dated in decor but tasteful.
Breakfast needs improving
Staff were lovely
Location a bit far out
We recently stayed at Penmere Hotel for what was meant to be a special occasion. Sadly, the experience was deeply disappointing.
I want to begin by acknowledging the staff. They were friendly, approachable and professional throughout. They handled issues calmly and did their best in difficult circumstances. They are clearly not the problem here.
Although we were given a full refund, which we do appreciate, the issues we experienced go beyond money. When you book a hotel, you are also spending your time — and that cannot be refunded.
Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. However, the hotel is extremely dated. There was no plug socket next to the bed and the cups provided were very small rather than standard mugs. Outside our patio doors there was constant dripping from a broken gutter, a large pile of cigarette butts, and a patio area that was poorly maintained, overgrown with weeds and visibly dirty.
The most significant issue was noise. The sound insulation is extremely poor. In our first room we could clearly hear every movement from the room above, along with toilet flushing and the cistern refilling. It kept us awake until after 2am and then woke us again at 6am. Staff kindly moved us to another room at midnight, but unfortunately the second room had the same issue with loud plumbing noise from the adjacent room. Being moved at 12am is not a reasonable solution when the problem appears to be structural.
We used the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The sauna raised safety concerns — the wood above the coals was blackened and brittle, and the lower part of the door frame appeared to be rotting. It did not feel well maintained.
There was also a strong damp smell walking from the garden rooms through to reception and the bar area.
Breakfast was mediocre, with low-quality ingredients that did not reflect the pricing or the expectations set by the website.
This review is not aimed at the staff. The issues are clearly maintenance and investment related. The hotel’s website presents a fresh, clean image that does not match the reality.
We chose to raise our concerns privately first out of respect, but future guests should be aware of the noise and maintenance issues before booking.
Everything
The man in reception although very nice absolutely stunk of cigarettes
