Hotel was clean. Room was small but this hotel is almost 100 years old and is in good condition. Has a moth ball smell that my wife didn’t like.
It is a very unique place. I would strongly recommend staying in this hotel. Keep in mind dining room is open from Thursday-Sunday. Excellent food. Staff was so friendly. Roo was so clean, and a lot of history in the 100 year old building. Awesome place!
The owner was so gracious as we arrived late in the evening. The grounds are beautiful. The room was very clean and had character. Our stay was very brief, but comfortable and restful.
A very interesting and well kept hotel and restaurant. The staff was friendly. They rooms were clean and comfortable. The food and service at the restaurant was excellent. The grounds outside were very pleasant, with peacocks and guineas roaming about. An aviary and a nice patio area with a large fountain. Very relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. We definitely will return again
Always a nice stay. Tried the restaurant and it was very good.
Gorgeous and quiet hotel
Nice staff
It was amazing how well -maintained this "piece of history" is. Beautiull with all the modern conveniences. Comfortable bed, nice clean facilities.
A somewhat "dated" property but quaint and certainly the best hotel in the area, food was good and the peacocks are interesting - would stay again.
This is a lovely old Florida hotel. We really enjoyed the grounds and the peacocks. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and beautifully decorated.
Very historic hotel. Extremely clean but room is small and walls are very thin.
We did not stay. We looked for another place. The photos are Not what the place looks like.
The surrounding area was very run down and very questionable.
owners and staff are very concerned about your comfort
Very interesting ecletic hotel
I love historical hotels and homes and Putnam Lodge is so well maintained with historical details. The staff are very nice and the restaurant is great. The peacocks walking around the yard were an added bonus.
This is a unique property worthy of a visit. Built in 1927. The dining room and staff were excellent!
This is an older hotel that has a very interesting history. It’s worth the time to enjoy the artwork found throughout the lodge. Everyone on staff that we encountered was friendly and helpful and we found the other people who stayed there to be delightful.
The bed was extremely comfortable! The only complaint I had was there was music playing at least until 11:00 pm. It then resumed early the next morning. I think it was coming from their beautiful back courtyard?
My husband and I enoyed our stay. The staff was amazing. Will definitely be coming back.
The room was very comfortable and pleasant. We will return for other stay!
Ok, this is a mixed review for all the couples out there. We accidentally found this place.
I am a history nerd and I absolutely fell in love with this place. I made 8 different videos, walked the halls over and over, sat in the study and read the newspaper clippings of the history of it, visited the dining room, chatted with people in the cafe kitchen, and sat in front of the fire in the morning. This was a literal dream vacation stay for me, at a phenomenal price.
My husband, he hated it. To him, I booked us an old, haunted hotel. He loathed every single non-modern amenity from the “community a/c” to the closets and doors and cast iron bath tub. There is a TV, electricity, an in-room fridge and an A/C vent - so it’s not like you’re at the turn of the 20th century, but it might as well have been to him. I seriously thought we might fight. lol.
In the end, we both slept phenomenally. He said it was the best night’s sleep he had in a hotel. We we had gone to the dollar store the night before and picked up a cheap mini fan and it all worked out.
So the final verdict - if you love resorts, and ultra-modern, probably keep driving. If you want a one-of-a-kind stay and you’re an easygoing type or love history and charm, you are going to be in heaven.
