William Gray I’ll give another Stay!
Pros:

Staff was excellent, rooms are spacious clean and comfortable. Located in such a beautiful historic area, everything is within a 5-10 minute walk.

Front desk and room cleaning was top notch and both were very attentive to whatever needs was asked of them.

Couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere and area to stay in while in the city!

Back for our 2nd stay — Ready for our 3rd!
Pros:

This is our second time staying at Hotel William Gray in Montreal — and we’ll stay here again on our next visit! Perfect location on a charming street, walkable to restaurants and Metro (you can get anywhere you need to go in Montreal by subway or bus so easily, including the airport). Great coffee shop in the same building. Relaxed, stylish atmosphere (i.e. cool, but not a scene). Delicious smelling Le Labo bath amenities in the rooms. Very helpful and warm staff. Twice daily housekeeping visits if you’d like (and the green/red light system is genius; no clumsy door hangers). Did I miss anything? We love it here.

Great stay at Hotel William Gray
Pros:

My stay at the Hotel William Gray was nothing short of a delight. Despite some ongoing construction and lack of pool access due to it still being the off season when I stayed there. The staff were very accommodating to my requests. The cleaning staff kept my room impeccably clean. The hotel met my high expectations in every regard.

A 5 Star Stay Defined by Extraordinary People.
Pros:

Hotel William Gray is a masterclass in elevated hospitality. A beautifully restored historic building where modern design meets genuine, heartfelt service. But beyond the stunning aesthetics, it's the people who make this place truly unforgettable.

From the moment we arrived, Eddy set the tone for our entire stay. His warmth and charm made us feel not just welcomed at the hotel, but welcomed to Montreal itself. Eddy was attentive, proactive, and accommodating. On our last night, when we mentioned wanting to find a place for a nightcap, Eddy didn't simply point us in a direction, they curated the experience. Eddy recommended a speakeasy (a classic Montreal cultural experience) and personally walked us there IN THE RAIN! Eddy is the kind of hospitality professional who reminds you why travel is so meaningful.

The valet team, most notably Tom, matched the same standard of excellence. They were unfailingly prompt, ensuring our car was always ready so we could make the most of every moment in the city. What set them apart, however, was the care they showed during checkout: reminding us to have our passports accessible and sending us off with waters for the drive to the airport. It didn't feel like a hotel transaction, it felt like family seeing you off.

Hotel William Gray has it all - stunning design, beautifully appointed rooms, top-tier amenities, and breathtaking rooftop views of Montreal's skyline. But's is the exceptional, detail-oriented staff that elevated this from a great hotel to an unmissable experience. If you're visiting Montreal, stay here, you won't regret it.

Cool Vibes Old Port Montreal
Pros:

It is said that Montreal Quebec has two seasons, winter and construction.
And indeed we experienced this on our recent stay in Montreal.
Will Gray is well situated in Old Port Montreal. You can see, smell and walk history right here.
The location perfect, steps from Ferris wheel, clock tower, urban beach, science center, shops and restaurants…
A few steps to the Basilica, under construction but still open for tours, light show and concerts.
Will Gray also under construction of lobby and meeting area although the staff well communicated short bursts of drilling and noise.
Halls quiet, rooms soothing, front desk/concierge/ doormen helpful.
Meals at connected Maggie Oaks delicious and well staffed.
This is where you want to be when visiting Montreal; enjoy the serenity of this most comfortable hotel and imagine today amidst the past.

Amazing Experience and Service
Pros:

I booked the hotel William Grey on a recommendation from a college and was not disappointed at all. First the hotel is located right in the heart of old Montreal a perfect location surrounded by shops and restaurants. The hotel was beautiful well maintained, modern and spotless. Rooms were clean , spacious and well laid out. The restaurant that was in the hotel was Maggie Oaks and it was such an unexpected surprise we ate there a total of four times. The food was amazing, good size portions cooked to perfection. The service was out of this world not only at the restaurant but right from the front desk to every employee we encountered. Special shout out to Pascal and Vincent for one of the best service experiences we ever had. I would highly recommend William Grey for any occasion for any trip.

Luxury comfort
Pros:

I stayed at the William Gray for 2 nights. I had the most gorgeous view from the 8th floor of the Ferris wheel and the citadel. It was also a quiet location within the hotel. The room was spotless with a minimalist decor, including my favourite spot, the yellow chair and ottoman. Accented by the cement reinforced walls, it is a small and very cozy space with a comfortable bed and ample down pillows. Check-in was quick and efficient. I look forward to returning.

Best Service I have ever experienced!
Pros:

While attending a work conference in Montreal during Ramadan 2026, I had a memorable experience at my hotel. Each morning before dawn, the chef went out of their way to prepare a special suhoor meal for me. Every meal featured a different theme, beautifully balancing sweet and savoury elements, and was always accompanied by fresh fruit.

Everyone at the hotel was really friendly and cordial!

A gem in Old Montreal
Pros:

A true gem in Old Montreal. Perfect location. The entire staff made you feel welcome and comfortable. They helped us with any questions or requests. Went above and beyond to help with meal plans. Paulo, valet, was most professional. Eddy and Diego were so friendly. Just a fabulous place and people. Will certainly return.

A Charm in Old Montreal
Pros:

What a great stay in Old Montreal! A fantastic location to walk around both day and night. Staff was wonderful. Our room was clean and we liked the decor.
If you like walking and the weather is ok, you can certainly walk to Ste Catherine Street - -about 20 minutes. We walked to The Bell Centre to watch the Habs and it was 28 minutes. Try the roof top bar for a drink and to see the city at night. It’s heated so you won’t be cold. We would love to come back!

Unprofessional!
Pros:

New Year’s Eve Ball at Hotel William Gray was my first experience and definitely my last.

Because of the announced Old Port road closures, I contacted the hotel days in advance to ask how guests attending the event (without a room reservation) should plan their arrival, parking, and timing. I live only 20 minutes away, so a room was not essential, but proper planning was. I was initially told there would be no issue arriving at 7 PM. After I forwarded official city notices recommending arrival before 5 PM, the hotel replied that valet parking was an option on a first come, first served basis, or nearby street parking.
Based on this information, I arrived early at 4:45 PM, expecting to park at valet. At arrival, the valet attendant informed me that valet parking was only for hotel guests with rooms, despite this never being mentioned in any email. When I questioned this contradiction, Eleni Albanis was called. Her attitude was dismissive and disrespectful. Instead of addressing the misinformation, she simply said I could not park there and offered to refund my event ticket—15 minutes before the roads were about to close, while I was already dressed for a formal event. This is completely unprofessional for a hotel of this level.
Had this restriction been clearly communicated in advance, I would have planned my outfit, footwear, and transportation differently with my friend.
Thankfully, we had brought spare shoes and managed to find street parking nearby, though not in an ideal or clearly permitted spot, as most other options were far away.
The confusion continued inside the hotel. We asked reception where we could change shoes and leave out coats and was incorrectly sent to the 3rd floor, only to later discover we needed to be on the 2nd floor. At that point, my confidence in the hotel’s organization dropped to zero.
We were told the cocktail reception would be on the 2nd floor before moving to the 3rd floor for the main event. When we finally tried to enjoy a cocktail, we were told we needed bracelets—something no one had mentioned before—and were sent back to the 3rd floor to get it. By then, frustration had completely replaced any excitement for New Year’s Eve.
The service during dinner was acceptable, but the main course meat was extremely dry. Overall, the evening was overshadowed by poor communication, lack of coordination, and especially the unprofessional behavior of front-facing staff.

If Hotel William Gray cannot accommodate or clearly manage parking and logistics for non-hotel guests, then this event should not be publicly advertised. It would make far more sense to limit it to hotel guests only.
This was, without question, the worst hotel-related experience I have ever had.

Best hotel experience!
Pros:

This hotel and service exceed my expectations. I planned a surprise birthday trip for my fiancee. The hotel not only provided us an early check in, but also upgraded our room and brought us cake and a heartfelt card. We felt so taken care of! Despite being in a wonderful location, we didn't want to leave the hotel. The view from our room was spectacular, and there was so much to explore with the hotel. We will definitely be back!
