Very helpful staff. Food was very good for all meals, breakfast and dinner.
Was on nice grounds and lovely walks close by
Rooms weren't overly clean I had to get moved and had paid for a terrace and was moved to a room without one without a mention of it
The room had fresh vomit from the previous people the smell was disgusting with fleas on the bed when I pulled back the blankets
The man on reception wasn't very nice about me coming back
I did go down after the 1st night and said even a drink would cover they did give a bottle of wine but only coz I asked
the Restaurant staff were professional and welcoming, the food was good...
Check in was ok...... had to iron a top and the iron was leaking so asked for another one, that was dropped to the room ok.. cob webs and general cleanliness could have been better in the room . Was disappointed with the "Terrance" of our room.. very enclosed and was in disrepair and not what I'd refer to as a terrace ! on day of checkout, we got a call from Reception at 11.30am, while we were in the middle of our breakfast , reminding us that checkout was 11am ! that's to early for a checkout time, especially when breakfast is open to arrive up to 11am ! when we did check out, the lady there didn't engage with us, or ask how our stay was..... it was an awkward departure if I'm being honest. One other thing to note, and not yere fault, is the taxi guy "Brendan" that the hotel recommends to all of its guests.... HE is very ignorant, and noted that he is the only "taxi" in town and has been doing it for alot of years...... there are plenty other "hackney" taxi drivers in Killaloe, that I'm sure would love the opportunity to welcome visitors and take bookings.... Brendan seems to do his own hours, and finished by 10pm last Saturday night.. he was a bit dismissive even when we were in his car, while taking another call, that he said not to , again referred to by the Hotel .
The location is absolutely beautiful, right by the river, with stunning natural surroundings that make it a perfect place to relax. The hotel is peaceful and quiet, creating a very calm atmosphere. What made our stay even more enjoyable was the staff. Everyone was incredibly polite, friendly, and genuinely eager to make sure guests were happy and comfortable. Their kindness and attention to detail really stood out. Great afternoon tea and excellent food in the restaurant.
There were a few issues that unfortunately affected our stay. The internet in our room did not work throughout our stay. We were offered a different room, which we appreciated, but after already unpacking all of our luggage, moving rooms would have been a major inconvenience. One of the biggest disappointments was that the spa was not operating. I specifically chose this hotel because of the spa and had planned to book two or three massages during our stay, so this was very frustrating. Housekeeping was inconsistent. On several days, our room had still not been cleaned by 3:00 p.m., and I had to go to reception to ask for it to be serviced. The quality of cleaning also varied—sometimes only one bed was made, on another day only the second bed, the rubbish bins were occasionally left unemptied, and the carpets were not always vacuumed. The telephone in our room was also not working, so it was impossible to contact reception or order food from the restaurant without going there in person. The breakfast was generous and of good quality, but the selection remained almost exactly the same every day. During an 8-night stay, it became repetitive, as there were very few alternatives beyond eggs and cereal. Sometimes we had guests in the room -spiders.
