Hotel Halsingland

A great place to stay! The hotel combined two of the officer's quarters from Fort Seward to make a beautiful building. While the building is from the early 1900s, it is beautifully maintained. The owner is very helpful - he went so far as to dig out a socket wrench to help me with an errant piece of photo equipment. Would definitely stay here again.

Historic hotel with comfortable accomodations. No open restaurants nearby, but some in the city.

It is a historical building and this gives it character. Beds are comfortable. Bathroom walls is small as expected for a historical building.

Historical building with charm. Reception Desk was very accommodating and waited up for us to check in even though we arrived on the ferry past 10 pm.

The owner Jeff and I were talking and he knew I was leaving for the ferry back to Seattle the next morning, but I had the incorrect time. He personally came to my room to tell me to please double check. I would have missed it had he not saved me. Thank you so much.

The owner, Jeff, was very friendly us as we arrived and checked us in while also outlining some local establishments and attractions that we might find interesting.

Very comfortable accommodation in a beautiful historic building well located in Haines. Jeff was very helpful in recommending what to see and where to eat.

The property & hotel itself was like history stood still. Beautiful view of the mountains & water. Clean friendly can't say enough about the atmosphere of the property. Epic property

It's a very cute old building. The owner, Jeff, was very kind, helpful, and flexible. It was close to everything in town. The room was beautiful and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay there again when in Haines.

This is a great historic property. The old buildings are very well kept and clean. The check in clerk was very friendly and informative.
The views over the ocean a fantastic on a nice day. The deck areas or parade square are a nice place to have your coffee and enjoy the day.

It is far from chic or modern but thats what makes it unique.

I like the beauty of this old area and building.

It would have been great to have food options there but apparently that is a thing of the past.

There is zero ambiance. While it is an old and charming hotel There is no possibility of interacting with any of the other guests. Just made it seem like I was the only person there.

Good central location if that is important to you. It is one of several buildings that apparently were part of the fort seward housing and this one just happens to have been converted to a hotel

There aren’t many options in Haines for an overnight stay. The property is historic and has tons of character, however it is in desperate need of some repairs.

The manager was outstanding!! He had immense knowledge of the local area to include dining options and areas to see during our short stay.

Overall, if you don’t have your standards high, it will be fine. It’s a great place for a night or two and offers a chance to stay in an historical property.
