Beautiful historic building!
Parking was not very convenient, which was to be expected at a downtown location. They had valet if you wanted to use that. We were not on a tight schedule so not a big deal but be ready to walk a ways if you don’t use valet.
We went for a baseball game so for proximity to that, it was great. The room was a bit small, but had what we needed. The daily breakfast and indoor pool were my kids favorites.
The general area downtown isn’t the best. We didn’t venture to walk around too much besides food runs and the baseball game.
Room was spacious and clean.
The customer service was very poor and very rude.
The location was great. The breakfast was ample and very good. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable.
You pay the same amount for every night... The room should be cleaned. I used a glass.. It was in the same place after cleaning and not replaced or cleaned. I left a tip and asked that the floor be vacuumed and mopped.. It wasn't done.
Breakfast is included! I don't like being made to feel guilty that I'm not tipping! The man making omelettes pointed out the tip jar when I asked to have one made?
I Had three rooms for three nights... I asked if we could have a delayed departure for one room.. The gentleman working on Saturday said we could.. for $75. I said I had three rooms for three nights and it was expensive. Our plane was not leaving until late and I just wanted a couple of hours longer. He said you can have one hour. 🤷
Don't stay here! I forgot some clothes in the closet when I checked out and they were gone. No accountability from this hotel. They completely ghosted me. Low class operation. Will never stay at an Embassy or Hilton again if this is how they treat customers.
I don't often feel inclined to give reviews unless a service is exceptionally good or bad, and I'm usually cautious about leaving bad reviews that might hurt the reputation of a business.
First, positives about this hotel: Suites were spacious and clean (we rented 2 rooms for 4 people including my elderly father). Service staff on the floors (breakfast, housekeeping) seemed professional, efficient and friendly. Good exercise room as hotel gyms go.
Negatives: Coffee/tea stations were pretty sparsely stocked, with just the very basics. There was a sink but nothing provided with it (e.g. dishwashing liquid, sponge). Lifts behave a little strangely, e.g. if you've just entered pressed the button to go up or down and someone else presses the button from outside before the elevator has left, not only do the doors open again as usual, but your selection is cancelled and then over-ridden by their selection (e.g. suddenly you're going down instead of up as expected). Strange and annoying, but I could live with this.
Extra negatives: Front desk staff. I scanned the reviews here to check whether it could possibly be my imagination that the staff were extra dismissive, short and uncaring toward guests, even by US standards, and could see that others mentioned this.
The night before we left we were given permission to check out at 12.30. At 11.55 I left our room to go down two floors in the lift to my dad's room and help him get his things together. Entered the lift, tapped the card key as the doors closed behind me, only to find that the card had been de-activated. This often happens in hotels before late check-out. However, especially annoying and inconvenient when you're in a hotel that requires guests to have an active key-card not only to go up in the elevators as normal, but also to go down to lower floors, e.g. when checking out. So, because I couldn't get down to the lobby in the elevator, I realized I'd have to leave the lift and use the stairs instead. However, when I pressed the button to open the elevator doors I realized that not only would the elevator not take me to where I wanted to go, but the doors wouldn't open either. It was after normal check-out time and the hotel was quiet, so I realized that I was trapped in the lift. Fortunately, my husband had stayed back in the room to finish up, and even more fortunately, I was able to use the weak wifi signal in the lift to call him, and he exited the room and pressed the button to let me out of the lift. That wasn't a good experience, and I called my father to warn him not to try leaving his room or using the lift, as I didn't want him trapped in a lift at his age - that could have caused a serious health crisis.
I had found the hotel front desk staff to be dismissive and uncaring in previous interactions, but I decided that this situation was serious enough that it should be reported. So, when my husband and I finally made it down to the lobby with the help of a housekeeper who happened to be on the floor below us and kindly used her key to activate the lift, I approached the man on duty there and tried to explain what had happened to me upstairs. From the beginning he was impatient and dismissive, constantly talking over me. When I said that requiring the key to be active to get down to the lobby and worse, to get out of the lift even on the same floor, was potentially dangerous and a bad system, he interrupted me and said 'It's not a bad system; this is downtown Minneapolis'. Not sure how a downtown hotel in a dangerous area is made safer by effectively locking your paying guests (or anyone) in a lift on an upper floor because their key-card has been de-activated, but that was his position, and I assume this is the hotel's policy. I was shocked and taken aback by the rudeness, not to mention the lack of logic. Posting this here at the very least to warn others of what to expect with the lifts, if not the front desk staff: it's my advice never to enter the lifts at this hotel alone without making sure your key is active *before* the doors close behind you. If you get trapped in the lift you can be sure that the front desk staff wouldn't be in the very least concerned.
Needless to say, I will avoid this hotel like the plague if I'm ever in downtown Minneapolis again for any reason.
Great location! Right downtown! 1 block from light rail! Near Target field and Target Center!
Rooms are great! Morning breakfast
It is a great location for taking in events at Target Center or Target Field. The hotel is in an older building that has been updated with modern conveniences. The king room was spacious with plenty of connections for electronics, the draw back some the plug-ins were loose. The shower needed to stronger fan. The room was clean and mostly quiet, being downtown some sirens at night. The evening reception and breakfast was good, light snacks in evening with custom made omelets and buffet in morning.
It’s located in downtown and very easy to get around downtown and the hotel has great amenities been to this hotel multiple times 👍
We came for baseball but enjoyed the breakfast buffet with omelet station. Rooms were very clean, valet parking did not have enough help so long waits, not good considering $150 price tag for two nights parking. All staff very friendly and helpful including valet parking staff. Wide range of restaurants within walking distance.
Lo amable del personal
The room was fine. It was underwhelming in every way. It was a generic hotel room, though bigger than some. There was nothing wrong with it, but nothing spectacular, either.
The staff was the worst I've encountered in years. The valet was MIA almost every time I pulled up. Retrieving the rental car took upwards of 20 minutes and they brought the wrong car around more than once! The front desk staff were also MIA. Our room was cleaned most days, but some days they skipped us altogether, not even bringing fresh linens. They are clearly understaffed and the staff seem to have had very little training.
Quick check- in, pool, workout room, breakfast.
Bathroom in our room was too big.
great location for MLB, NBA an NFL trips. The staff were very helpful in the things I needed after checkout but hours before my flight took off. The included breakfast is the best in the business and the free 2 drink reception at the bar was a nice addition.
We 2 complementary drinks at the bar and the breakfast was amazing! Truly one of the best
