Last Resort was one of the only places to stay in Karamea. It did the job for the two nights.
Pros:

Proximity to Oparara tour and Heaphy Track

Cons:

Looked and felt outdated.

Comfortable rooms & friendly service. Maggie was a gem, with her friendly but no nonsense
Pros:

Great rustic vibe with a good restaurant & bar facilities. The room was spacious & quiet. Within walking distance to the village & pub & estuary walk.

A great starting place to have a good sleep before a multi-day hike.
Pros:

We were glad that the receptionist placed us in a quieter area of the resort, the place was ideal for us as we started the Heaphy Track from the West side. It was great that the lodge has its own pub and the meal was great!

Cons:

The doors to the room and bathroom were quite squeeky.
